Death to Google Ads! Texans Talk Tip Jar! 🍺😎👍
Thanks for your support!

I quit.

How's that been working so far?

This is what "trying" looks like? JJ seems to be describing the Texans decision makers. They don't care about winning, they aren't giving their best, and are most definitly overpaid.

It hasn't ever worked long before DW4 became a Texan. Nor will it ever work

I've been saying both of these things in your post since 2010. Nothing new to see here.

If Watson goes then no reason for a stud LT either so trade Tunsil and get his contract off the books as well.
If we're going to be drafting a QB 1.3 might be better to keep him so we don't waste the first 3 years of his career, or ruin him.

Dump Martin, Watson, Watt & several JAGs on defense making too much money & our cap will be right 2022 & beyond.

Doesn’t matter how it works now. The team went 4-12 last year & got blown up by 51 when everything was all great in the locker room.

Right now JJ is the absolute LAST guy to talk about someone being overpaid. Yes, he’s given a lot to the city of Houston, yes he’s an icon here, but any sensible GM probably would’ve cut him at least 1 year ago, likely 2.

Yep,

The last paragraph certainly isn't the Patriot way.

Do you have a particular QB in mind? I'll be the first to admit I don't follow college but the only QB I've really heard anyone talk about in this draft is Lawrence. I've seen some mention of Fields but nothing major. Is he worth drafting at 1:3 and would the Jets take him at 2?

The bills used to be a joke and now they are not.

the browns used to be a joke and now they are not.

The Texans used to be a joke and
What was I talking about?

I know my team sucks and my teams Owner is truly an idiotic dim witted joke but I’m staying in this abusive relationship. I may not put out like I used to but I’m sticking around.

I remember the Jags getting to the AFCCG, the two years later being a joke again, & now they ha6the #1 overall draft pick.

I say that to say the last two years is not enough data to say just yet. I'm not sold on either the Browns or Bill's beyond this season. & My money is on the Texans two years from now.

We've got our issues, no doubt. But so do they.

**** this franchise.

I decided in 2002 I was going to love this franchise from the start and I fell in love with them because they were, despite growing pains, ran well and respectable.

This team has been a wreck since the day they hired Bill O'Brien and it has not gotten better and in fact gotten worse and worse even after firing him 5 years too late.

Patriots. Patriots. Patriots. Patriots.

And even though we've had chances to fix it, we've doubled tripled and quadrupled down on the worst parts.

They have helped sucked the life out of my desire and love of this sport. The coaching staff, the management, and the bullshit whiny dramatic players.

**** O'Brien. **** McNair. **** Caserio. **** Easterby. **** Watson. **** all of them.

None of these fools get **** from me. They're all detestable and I hate them all and everyone else responsible for all of this more than words could ever possibly describe.

Disgusting franchise. Disgusting team. Disgusting players. Disgusting league.

Most of these player wont or shouldn't be here next yr anyways.

Agreed, but I've been saying this about the McNair's since 2010 and posters thought I was crazy when I disagreed about them not being hands off owners.
It's funny to see so many here now posting their opinions that read much like you, me and Lord Bills opinions of a decade ago. Man did the negativity rain down on us. We were seriously hated. I was called a Colt fan. We were able to do the math and somehow knew the McNair formula was a recipe for average and ordinary that would never amount to much success in the NFL.

Until Cal sells the team or we somehow get to an AFC championship game (or further) I won’t be a true believer. Won’t give my $ but will still follow the team. Unfortunately the bad seasons/moves sometimes provide more entertainment than mediocrity.

Browns and Bills have been worse than the Texans since 2002. Not sure what the Browns will do today, but the Bills have managed to do something the Texans haven't since 2002...Win two playoff games in the same year and get to a conference finals...One win away from the superbowl...

I wouldn't trade what the Texans have done during that time frame though. They have at least been better than those two teams and a few others. But tallest midget person and all that stuff...…

With the Bills win there are just 4 AFC teams, out of 16, that have not been to the AFC title game since the Texans inception. And a Browns win today could cut that to 3.

Browns, Bengals, Dolphins and Texans.

As apathetic as I am about this team right now, I do believe they can still turn this ship around. If they do what TK suggested up thread. Will ownership stop their meddling ways, though? That's the biggest question that needs answering.

Thanks for posting this.

Alot of the newcomers need to know nothing has changed, just their favorite players/ex players are now starting to speak out. I believe they never would've done this if Mr. McNair was alive. But they perceive Cal as weak and are piling on.

Not since about 2006. When Casserly got fired is when the meddling began and it hasn't stopped to this day.

I would trade what they've done in a heartbeat.

The Texans org is fools gold.

The team management wise finally looks like it might be on the right track. I don’t care what crybaby kids that just got paid millions think because they aren’t getting their way.

So he didn’t get a say in who his boss will be, welcome to the real world kid. I don’t even care if Watson was told he would, boss tells employee something that turns out not to be true isn’t exactly news. At least for Watson it wasn’t something like, “you’re not getting laid off” or “you are getting a raise.”

Team is bigger than any one player and this BS of nobody wants to play here will go away really fast if they win. Let a new GM and new HC build whatever team they want with whoever they want and not be tied down by past management.

I would far rather keep Watson but if he wants out then yeah let’s go the Patriot way and get him out to better the team long term. If Watson goes then no reason for a stud LT either so trade Tunsil and get his contract off the books as well. Even with JJ get the most you can for him.

The Texans don’t owe any player anything, they were paid very well for their talents and no one held a gun to head a forced them to sign with the team so I don’t buy into this “wasted their careers” BS. They knew what the team was and the situation was when they signed on the dotted line.

I for one am excited about seeing a full rebuild if the right people are put in place.
All true, it’s still run by a shitty owner with zero knowledge on the how to. Watson leaves, their will no winning here for a good while. It will be a bad nfl joke team.

This is great entertainment.

No they aren't worse since they hired BOB and they surely aren't better. They're the same franchise they've been since the beginning. Only difference is you prefer the Broncos form of mediocrity more than the Pats form of mediocrity.

You probably need to talk to Thorn about the benefits of self medication.

Not if they hit on the draft bounty they get when they trade DW4. If they hit on those draft picks they will actually be in a better place than they've been in yrs. I've been saying this team needs a enima since 51-7. The longer they put it off the worse it's going to be.

If Cal is the problem the plethora of draft picks don’t matter & neither does hitting on them.

Detroit will get to the AFCCG before we do. That is not a typo.

They also clear 20% off the 2022 salary cap by trading DW4. That amount alone for 1 player is a detriment to championship football. This detriment is compounded even further when you factor in the Cook and Tunsil cap figures, 36% for 3 players.

True. Houston's problems have been compounded even further with the additions of Urban Meyer and Trevor Lawrence now in Jax.

Call it wishful thinking or even naive but I have trouble seeing Cal try to micromanage Caserio after spending so long trying to hire him.
It’s not necessarily micromanaging. It’s the impact of the decision they insist on making.

Drafting Carr over Peppers. Extending Carr when everyone else knew he was a backup QB you hoped never sees the field. A HC like Kubiak shouldn’t get 6 years to find a competent DC. Or BO’b getting 6 years to find an OC. Or trading a 3x All Pro receiver, or letterman jackets for division winners

True but it’s not like the McNairs are the only owners making stupid decisions and letting egos or personal feelings get in the way of the team. In fact you can point to almost any team and see that to one level or another.

Even the Pats are now paying for Kraft choosing Brady or BB and who knows how long that tab will take to pay off. I’m not giving the McNairs an excuse I just think for us fans it’s a case of grass being greener on the other side.

Correct all I’m saying is fortunes turn eventually. We have the hardest piece to find in Watson. Assuming he sticks around I believe the Texans can get back on track. Then again things could get worse.

The corporate culture? Boardroom decision making? Texan Worthy? Is this what Cal is trying to change?

I think Caserio could turn this organization around. He's been a part of a winning organization. But, Cal and his minion have to be completely removed from the equation. Not part of selecting players, coaches, trainers, ball boys. Not part of the draft, trades, free agency. Not part of negotiating contracts or the salary cap. Go play with org charts that have zip to do with the product on the field.

Is that going to happen? If not, this is just another tease.

Because he had a generational QB, a competent HC and an owner that never meddled in any situation; the Texans only have one of those.

If the underdog Browns beat the Queefs, they’ll move up from being my #3, to my number #2 team. If they make it to the Super Bowl they’ll be my #1.5 team! I hope the Texans can get this thing right, I really do...

Looks like I got out at the right time. :)

Honestly, when I got here 7 years ago, finally got to go to Ray Jay (been a Bucs fan my whole life), having them as my new home team, THEN seeing the Texans on Hard Knocks and realizing how much an a-hole BOB is ... at that point I was like I’ll stick with my childhood team who are now my new home team. Also the Oilers are dead and they’re not being replaced in my heart. The Texans totally failed at that as much as I tried to force that for over a decade. I made good friends in the process though and of course will keep this place going. I’ll still stay interested in what the Texans are doing but I’m here now. BTW, where else can I dress up like Captain Morgan before a playoff game?

Simple math

When they traded Hopkins for nothing, I was done with the team. Didn't watch a single game this year, just saw occasional highlights from Rivers McCown's twitter feed. I'd read his blog too because I like his work but my investment and interest in the team was completely killed with the Hopkins trade.

When the Texans fired O'Brien, I thought about giving the team a second chance but thought better of it when they installed a team chaplain/culture coach as the interim GM. I wanted Easterby gone the second he was named interim GM simply because he didn't have any qualifications to be the GM. So while I stayed away, I figured I'd give them one more chance this offseason if they fired Easterby. Obviously, they didn't. He increased his power and it appears he's going nowhere.

I truly cannot believe that this team has ruined their relationship with a franchise, superstar QB. They ask Watson for his opinion on GM candidates - not sure why but they asked, he didn't. They then ignore all of his input. Weird. The franchise tells him "we're going to keep you in the loop about the GM and HC search" but then don't bother to call him to let him know who they chose. Instead, he finds out on social media like all of us. We come to find out that the team also asked him for input on the head coaching search - he brings up Bieniemy and Saleh. Again, the franchise asked Watson and ignored his input. Didn't even pretend to consider it until it leaks out that they didn't bother interviewing either of them. It's just one dumpster fire after another and it has been this way since Easterby got here.

I enjoy you all on this board and that's really the only reason I occasionally drop in. I don't have a new team to support but wherever Watson gets traded for, that's who I'll follow. I wasted way too many years for a franchise QB to finally come along to have to suffer through more horrible QB play on top of horrible ownership. No thanks. If there's one thing Covid-19 has truly shown me, it's that life is too short to waste on things that don't make you happy. The Texans as currently managed, do not make me happy in any way, shape, or form. I do wish the Texans fans the best and those on this board the best.

Well spoken and I agree. I only stop by on occasion to read mosly the same posts just different wording. I've been around since I got back from Nam and was a gluten for punishment for all those years. I quit when the support for cop killers, rapist, wife beaters and thugs became more important that respect for our Flag and National Anthem. Haven't watched a Pro game this year and don't plan on it.

Cal didn't ignore his input. He just disagreed with what DW4 wanted. DW4 was on vacation and supposedly tried to call DW4 while he was on vacation. If DW4 truly cared about what was going on with the GM/HC hires maybe he could've delayed his vacation for a couple of weeks.

Yeah well, if you were dumb enough to sleep with that chick with no condom and you caught something, you’ve got no one to blame but yourself. And in that regard, DW4 has no one to blame but himself. He signed his contract having a pretty good idea about how the FO was operating. He HAD to know that BoB was not likely to survive a bad season. Dude came into the season on the hot seat....& after the Nuk trade, that seat was white hot.
How would you describe his actions?

I know how I would describe them, but I've been told by mods not to bring up that topic on this MB and stick to football. I will honor their requests.
???

Do you think that NE coach could win with DW4?

Nope, too many holes on that team. Especially with all of the opt outs.

BTW, I think he could definitely win in Miami. I dont know about a championship anytime soon though.

A winner knowing he plays for a loser

What has he won though?

This isn't college anymore.

If anything I would say if Brady doesn't get to make mgmt calls then neither will DW4. He certainly doesn't have the pelts on the wall. It's not the Patriot way. DW4's gone if they get a deal they like.

Lol
Nice cop out
We know you don't like DW4. But that NE coach would be born again with him

Tell me Hightower/Chang etc.. would be back/be in good shape and I could give you a better answer. Sometimes sitting out for a yr can affect player performance. See: Laveon Bell.
