Texans cut WR Kenny Stills!

Long story short she was the Texans PR person and she made some posts on her personal twitter that could have been taken as support for Biden/Harris and not long after was fired because she no longer meant the “cultural values”. Stills and Watt were two people that protested it greatly, Stills in particular.

Someone can correct me if I missed the details. I’ve tried very hard to ignore the political side of football as it just makes me not want to watch the games.
Stills approached the FO in regard to his strong disfavor of Amy's firing. Watt presented statements of support for Amy, but never stuck his neck out in confronting the FO in any way concerning the firing.

I'm sure he didn't fit the culture - whatever the fock our culture is.

So far, not taking into account any future administrations/cultures, our historical culture seems to be ineptitude. The Texans ineptitude is like the Pacific ocean, and the Texans brief glimpses of sanity are like little tiny islands in the Pacific, few and far between and hard to find.

IF DW4 gets what DW4 wants, that would imply Fuller will get a new contract. What is the maybe, maybe not?

Maybe not because WFV could get injured again like he does every yr.

Personally I wish they would have traded all of the pending FA's they could at the deadline since this is a lost yr. Now I'm hoping they let all of the FA's walk and trade Watt then use that FA $$$$ to rebuild the defense.

I see what you're doing... already setting up DW to take the fall if the next GM/HC sucks as well.

For some strange reason, DW loved BOB. If it was up to DW, BOB would still be here.

I think he did right up until OB traded Hopkins away with no warning. Watson has said he found out from his QB coach and thought it was a prank. I believe this and his post of the Drake lyrics after seem to back that up. I think after that Watson was just going through the motions. Which in all fairness could explain his shall we say less than stellar play in the early part of the season.

I guess it would be similar to someone taking another person's professed love for granted and using it as a license to do whatever they want.

Prior to signing here Stills was a top average yards per catch in the NFL. I think he was top 5. He comes here and he is not used much. Plus, he is what 4th on the depth chart? I saw an article and I am trying to find it. About why other WRs like Cooks, and others are better for release because Stills was a better chunk yards guy. Which is a good way to move the ball down field.

And for people saying Watson should not be blamed if a new HC is not working. I have a question: Why is that? He is the QB, he will know the plays and game plan. If he misfires and is not playing well. Are you saying it is the HC? Because Watson is going to hand pick the HC. That is fact, Cal has a team of people looking. However, if Watson is not comfortable with that person...they are not going to be picked. This should be clear. Why else is he on the committee to pick a HC? It's very simple and easy to see if you are not taking sides. Cal trusts Watson and has given him the money and opritunity to do so.

I hope he picks a good HC and we win. But after the rumors of Romeo staying as HC next year I don't know. True, if it happens it is a Cal move and likely be due to HCs not wanting to coach either Watson (and not being allowed to change QBs if he wants/needs to) and I am sure others OR lack of draft capital this year.

OB most likely figured that winning fixes everything and that if we came into the season and were winning games then people would forget the Hopkins trade. And in all honesty he’s right in his thinking there was just one slight problem with his plan.

It would be. And it is very unprofessional. The NFL at the end of the day is a business. Players are going to be traded and cut all the time. You can't just play well when you are happy with things. Look at JJ. Has he been just going through the motions? No, he is not happy but he is still out there trying to do what he can to help the team win.

Cooks was a top 5 yards per catch guy before last year in LA. They went to more of a quick game I guess & didn't use Cooks. I agree with you, Stills was a big play WR. But so is Will & so is Cooks.

That's not what they are saying. They're saying don't blame Watson if Cal picks the wrong guy. Don't blame Watson if Bieniemy is our next HC & turns out to be an avg or worse HC.

I think "Hand picking his HC" is overstating. Rogers got McCarthy fired. Rogers had no objections to LaFleur. Rogers did not hand pick LaFleur. It's the same thing.

How is he not hand picking? All signs point in the direction of it.
1- A 4th year player is on the committee over say JJ. When no player she be involved.
2- Watson has already been said to be endorsing EB. Which is a hot canidate who just may want to be a HC and Watson could be fun for him to work with.
3- Watson is untouchable. What I mean is that Cal is not going to hire a HC who says anything about a future change at QB if Watson is not playing well. Cal would remove him from the list if they ask anything about it. And we all know that.

Bottom line is that Watson is not on the committee for a GM. He is on it to get a HC he wants. The GM he can care less. As long as they get players that he can work with or protect him (OL). Rogers has earned the right to have a say. He has won a SB, an MVP and multiple Pro Bowl and All Pro selections. He is not a 4th year player who is still an unknown as to how good he will be or won't be. Why would Cal put him on the committee and flat out say he is? If it was under the table I would understand. But it's all over with articles about it all over.

This has got to stop. He was asked what did he think if EB was his next coach.

It's not like he was asked, "Who do you want?"

& it's not like he said, "That's the guy I'm pulling for."

It was more like, "Yeah, I keep in touch with Mahomes & he loves the guy. So if he comes here, I'd love it."

Stop letting weak as5 Houston media play you like a fiddle.

They went away from Cook because of his concussion issues. He didn’t want to go across the middle like that either.

100% on the rest of your post.

Lol exactly. Sometimes we can get things so twisted. I hate when the media ask questions like that.

I don't know about that. Cooks has been going across the middle for us.

LAs game changed. Look at their WR & TE ypc before 2019. Then without Gurly & their play action, the field got a lot shorter for Goff.

If for no other reason than good PR something Texans need right now. With Covid and the oil bust Houston isn’t exactly in the best economic shape right now so people are needing a real reason to spend the unholy amounts of money that professional football. Watson is exciting and is the face of the franchise for many reasons.

Honestly I view Watson on the committee the same way I do pancakes. It’s great PR, spreads the blame if it doesn’t work out and ultimately doesn’t really hurt as long as what he says is taken under advisement and not as gospel truth.

I mean if Watson signs off on the new HC don’t you think he will play his heart out because his reputation is on the line now to. Same with Pancakes after the hire I doubt he ever writes another bad article about the Texans again. Say what you want about Cal but the man knows business and how to run one and you have to respect that.

More proof that Watson should not be on the committee. Seeing it is national and he has not said that they misquoted him. So if I am wrong fine, but seeing he has been quoted about 2 possible HCs...it sure is not looking like what you said.

Also, where did you get the information that he is not picking? Seeing Cal has said that "he has a committee and he highly values his QBs input"

I think what has to stop is anyone saying anything about HC choices until it is a done deal. I don't remember anything about who we were talking to until we had warm bodies starting to come in for interviews when OB was hired. The rest was forum members saying who they were wanting and why. This time it's Texans Comedy Show to 31 other teams. Seeing I don't think anyone else has even indicated an idea of who they were looking at. Past the Falcons who are linked to Rick Smith as GM. However, nothing else.

That right there says Watson isn’t picking. Cal is.

He brought in an executive search firm to find a GM. Then that guy will work with Cal & his “committee” to find a HC. The GM will have more say in hiring a HC than Watson, maybe overruling Watson.

I think Cal is just saying whatever to the media. I doubt you’ll ever get Cal, McClain, Watson, & the new GM in the same room together discussing a new HC until after Cal hires him & he’s introduced as the new HC.

I doubt Watson will even be in town for one interview with any HC candidate.

Please, I’m looking to discuss anything. What would you like to talk about

Aside from QB play and unfortunate drama this Texans squad is mostly pretty uninteresting, and I'm not really one for speculative drama so I'm probably not your guy here, bud. And any QB talk inevitably gets spun into is he/ain't he that good debate, which I try not to get too involved in either.

Looking forward to the Tyson/Jones spectacle tonight..

You make too much ado about nothing

Offensively I agree. Defense, not so much.

Really its both sides of the ball .... Defense is bad at every level , offense could use a decent RB , a center and a guard , maybe both guards .... Then there's WFV , staying or going ?!

I think the OT , QB and TE spots are solid on offense.

Defense ....

Roby and Reid on the back end are pretty solid. Really need 3 players on the back end.

We're stuck with Cunningham on the inside and Mercilus on the outside due to $$ couldn't replace them if you wanted to - Cunningham leads the league in tackles .... and Missed Tackles. Adams has been decent if unspectacular. The other LB spot is a black hole.

The DL is just bad , even with Watt. He's part of why the run defense is so bad (gap integrity). Need a couple players up front. Not sure Omenihu , Watkins , Dunn or Blacklock start on a quality defense.
