Week 11: New England vs New England South

Call me crazy, but I'm predicting a Texans victory. For as bad as the Texans defense has been, the Pats have been even worse if you can believe it.

This is definitely a game they can win ..... but the Pats defense has been statistically better against the run , pass & PPG than the Texans.

Rushing YPG 129.2 - 167.4
Passing YPG 224.1 - 241.7
PPG allowed 23.4 - 28.0

Yeah, I’m looking over the Pats roster and I’m like, who TF are these guys?

All I do know is that they’re one of the best run teams in the business right now. I think even more of a problem than Cleveland was because Hunt and Chubb weren’t on the field at the same time. Harris and Cam will be.

Dual 100 yard games again??

You may say I’m a dreamer but I’m not the only one
It would be a very ‘Texans’ thing to do to go on a run of wins this season now that there’s nothing to play for.
Also very McNair to see that as evidence that nothing is wrong with the direction of the coaching staff.

To be fair, it's been a while since we've been in this situation.

From what I understand, that's the way he feels now. He got rid of BO'b, now he needs to find a new GM, new HC.

As far as the roster is concerned it really doesn't matter what McNair thinks. Changes are coming, deep cuts. No way around it.

They ain't what they used to was, but Bellringer won't tolerate the kind of schidt Houston leaves on the field. Expatriots 42, Tinhorns 20.

Upped his game? He has 1 TD pass in his last 3 games, is averaging 188 yards per game, and in his last 2 games he's averaging 1.7 yards per carry. That's upped his game while Watson continues to get **** on by some of y'all. SMDH
We give up 160 yards a game rushing. They average... Well let's just look at NFL.com for why they are going to be a big pain.

The Texans are allowing 167.4 rush YPG this season (would be most in a season in team history). NE is averaging 161.1 rush YPG (most in season since 1983).

That's not a good stat. If Cam just doesn't toss an INT or fumble. The D is also ranked 12th per NFL.com just go to schedule and scroll down on our game.

Bill Belichick will incorporate the never used Bill Yeoman "Veer Option Offense" against the Texans "Never Stop Run Defense" in an effort to put up 500+ yards rushing in an NFL game while keeping Newton's passing game to 5 throws.

Big question.....can the Watson's keep up by unleashing their passing game early and often? Or does Kelly take the Belichick bait and try to out rush NE in the game?

The two teams will be beasts between the 20's and not so good in the red zone. Another 12-6 week.......the better kicker will get his team the win.

Wonderful. But that has squat to do with you saying Cam has upped his game recently.

31 - 17 patriots. Whatever RB they put in the game will get a 100yards easy.
Pretty much, and if Cam doesn't throw an INT or fumble...he will have a good QB rating. Making it look like he was a god. Face it our D is not going to stop the run. Or pass for that matter. Not many passing TDs this season for NE. Watch them go for more against the D that can't stop anything.

DVOA is a geeks dream
For someone that says Watson's stats get bloated due to garbage time & quality of opponent's defense... I would think you'd like DVOA as well. It's a metric that factors in both of those.

Granted, no stat is perfect, but I like to reference DVOA to see if it matches up w/ what I see w/ my eyes (knowing that the ol' fashion eye test usually carries some bias to it)

I rarely go against the Texans winning a game. Belichick is certain to run the ball down the Texans throats while keeping Watson on the sideline. He will attempt to go up via the ground game and force the Texans into a game of catch-up via the pass game.

Hey Kelly......win the toss.....do not give up first possession......trot Watson and your offense onto the field and then unleash a no-huddle, hurry-up offense and try your damnedest to put up the first TD. Hopefully the defense could still stuff the NE running game at some point before they were to get into the red-zone. If Texans defense is successful, NE would have no reason not to think Kelly wouldn't be ready to protect the lead, as history has proven far too many times, and start running the ball trying to burn the clock and therefore that would be the Patriots defensive scheme......except a halfway intelligent Kelly would roll the same no-huddle, hurry-up offense back onto the field in an effort to go up by 2 scores. If successful, RC stands a better chance of seeing NE get away from the running game, a little bit, and put the ball into Newton's hands where the Texans may have a chance to enjoy a few of his typical turnovers when he's carrying the team.

No huddle only works if you have the defense in a favorable matchup, BB not going to let you keep that long

If DVOA was all of that then the Texans would have sucked for the last 4 yrs like they're sucking this year.

First of all, like I said, no stat is perfect. Even wins & losses aren't a perfect stat to reflect how good a team is.

BTW, the Texans Team DVOA for the past 4 years:

2017 - 26th
2018 - 11th
2019 - 16th
2020 - 22nd

Those rankings seem fair to me.

But 2018 was the worst year record wise?

This might be the most winnable game left on the schedule aside from Cincy.

Cam isn't a good QB , as physically gifted as he is , Watson's better .... and their defense is garbage too. Playing at home , no excuse for not beating the Pats.

I tried to dispel that terminology - "Garbage Time" in a previous post as its not accurate at all.
If you are down multiple scores early , the entire rest of the game isn't garbage time.

But that defenses play softer coverages in those situations willing to concede yards in exchange for time ticking away while not getting beat over the top the team playing from behind has two enemies , the opponent and the clock.

You see this play out almost every week in a large majority of games , realize it or not.
