Hopkins traded to Cardinals?

Hop will never win a ship or even get close with Arizona. Seeing Kyler throw and the offense (after Cowboys game, kyler sucks), Hop would definitely have better numbers with Watson. I would love to see Watson in a Kingsbury offense, I think he would be unstoppable.

Hopkins was targeted 8 times and caught 2. He had 73 yds for the game, but one of the passes was short, and it must have been a busted coverage which turned it into a 60 pass play. Some of those missed targets were on Kyler, some were on Hopkins putting out somewhat less than full effort to meet the ball.

Stands to reason Nuk would lead in receptions. Easy to rack those up in KK's offense & anyone who has watched Tech's offense at any point over the last 20 years, all they run is a bunch of shorter smoke/hitch & drag routes..They throw in the occasional slant & deep shot. That type of passing game requires your WR's to make guys miss. This is also why Nuk is amongst the league leaders in YAC for WR's. Newsflash, Nuk's a very good WR.

But like the Russell Westbrook triple double MVP season, a few seasons like Gilbert Arenas had where he was putting up numbers through volume shooting, Nuk's stats will look good at the end of the day, but there's not much behind them & they don't mean a whole lot from a team playoff success standpoint...Midget Murray has to throw the ball to someone.

When Larry Fitzgerald is on his team, I do

Larry has a much lower target number as well. Wouldn't that be like saying a RB3 has 30 carries on the season for 240 yards is a better runner than RB1 who had 300 carries for 1,500 yards?

When Larry Fitzgerald is on his team, I do

Fair enough. That said, both are likely HoF players, and both are certainly considered elite WRs.

I was just having some fun yanking steel's chain because he consistently says that stats are for losers. . .unless they apparently support his perspective, I suppose.

Interesting that the NFL itself does not keep official records of dropped passes. They consider it a subjective statistic.

Bruce Arians on dropped passes: "I don’t know who makes up these stats. I don’t see us dropping the ball that much. We had a game where we did, but I don’t put any stock in it. Our guys can catch, and we don’t say (anything) about it.”

Personally, I do not need stats to confirm what my eyes see. Nuk has made some of the most spectacular catches that I've ever seen as an NFL fan.

Seriously, what is the purpose of a post like this? Nuk has 40 more targets than Cobb and has just 1 drop, 41 more targets than Fitzgerald. You make it seem like Nuk is letting balls hit the ground all over the place.

78 targets, 1 drop vs. 38 targets, 0 drops. If OB ever did something right in his time here it was to get rid of that bad hands bum.

The trade was bad and unnecessary. Nothing is going to change that.

neither is whining about how bad it was, yet this thread rages on.

I think we’ve all noticed a change in CNDs rhetoric. Between the Clowney thread and this one he’s turning into Steelb. They cherry picks points that are flat out wrong and then pat themselves on back.

It’s like playing chess w pigeon; don’t waste your time.

I just don't get picking a side and then blindly following it no matter what. I love the Texans and will always be on their side, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to be all pom poms and defend them to the death. I actually can be critical of them when it’s warranted. And lately, that’s been a lot.

If you’re an OB guy, fine. But if you’re then going to bury your head in the sand so that you can’t have an objective view, then what’s the point of going through life like that?

That was a classic post of someone simply using stats to fit an agenda. Why? What’s the purpose there? Why bring up Cobb and his 38 targets with no drops in a DeAndre Hopkins thread and never mention Hopkins having 40 more targets with only 1 drop? Yeah, OB is the bomb!! That makes no sense to me.

Hey man don't get me into this.

I've never posted one thing about Hopkins stats. I have said they should have kept Hopkins for another yr.

I believe just about everybody on this MB said it was time for BOB to go. 51-7

Some just don't think everything that's wrong with the Texans org was on BOB.

Obviously that's the case, look at the search committee and tell me as a Texans fan would you rather laugh at them or whine about them? I choose to laugh.

How can you laugh or whine? We haven't heard of any GM candidates being mentioned nor have we heard of any concrete names for HC(s) who have a mutual interest in coming to the Texans.

I have my concerns in regards to who they've brought to the table as a committee but I have no idea as to who they have in mind and the direction they wish to take. Just got to wait and see before I critique the choices.

So this thread should be renamed the whining about Hopkins trade thread?

No, it's the topic that clearly exposes the utter incompetence of the Texans owners and front office in general as being an unqualified laughing stock of the NFL.

There is literally NOBODY in the national media that sees this deal as anything but stupid on the part of Houston Texans, Inc.

And if your personal opinion wasn't so invested in it and you could actually be objective about the deal, you'd see it, too.

So like PapaL said, "why keep coming here if you’re not interested in discussing THIS subject?"

And yes, when you tell people talking about a subject that they are "whining", you clearly have no interest in a mature conversation at that point. Further trolling in this thread will be dealt with accordingly.

Guess what everybody on here can do about the trade? Nothing.

The 1st part of understanding is acceptance. I've already said I would've made Hopkins play on his contract for atleast 1 more yr regardless of what Hopkins wanted. BTW, I've said the Texans org has been incompetent since 2010, I guess it just took a trade like this to make the sheeple see the light. I certainly dont think this opinion should be considered trolling in any way. Obviously you feel differently.

DeAndre Hopkins: Receivers’ stats should credit us for pass interference yards
Posted by Michael David Smith on November 13, 2020, 2:36 PM EST

Officially, Cardinals receiver DeAndre Hopkins had his least productive game of the season on Sunday, catching three passes for 30 yards. But that doesn’t tell the whole story: Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard was flagged for four pass interference penalties while covering Hopkins.

Hopkins would like the numbers to reflect his production. Hopkins said today that receivers’ official stats should reflect the fact that a pass interference penalty can be just as helpful to an offense as a completed pass.

“As long as the ball moves, that’s all I care about. But I do think the rules should change and receivers should get the counted yards for penalties,” Hopkins said.

Hopkins raises a good point. Statistics should reflect, as best they can, a player’s overall contribution to his team. If the stats don’t include a player’s ability to draw penalties, they don’t tell the whole story.
