NFL Random Thought of the Day

Trent Williams traded to 49ers

I really thought Williams might be in play with TB seeing how they needed a LT. The compensation to get him was very reasonable. Great job 49'ers.

He is not a "fake" or showoff................he is as genuine off camera as on..............admirable as a player and as a person.

Exactly. I really feel for the guy. I broke my right fibula and shattered my ankle about ten years ago. It was hell for me just to be able to bear weight and walk on it again. I couldn't imagine trying to get back to NFL form. Hopefully he does what's best for his health. I honestly can't imagine him seeing the field again.

They are going to miss Brady more than they think.
I’m pretty sure they know what they’re going to be missing. But it’s not easy to plan for something when your hands are tied. BB’s been trying to move on, tried to plan for life after Brady, but Kraft wouldn’t let him.

They’re where they are, and are moving forward. It is what it is.

What they will really miss is all of the discounted players that went to play there because of Brady and their chances to win a Sb there. Belicheck will no longer have that advantage that other coaches don't have. He also won't have the same ease of getting veterans to do whatever he says as easily since the GOAT isn't there to show everyone that he is willing to which makes it a lot easier. Beliecheck will still have his history of winning for a while, but if they don't go back to winning after one bad season, his uphill battle will become a lot more steep, because the advantages he had for at least 18 years will be gone. Brady made everything easier from player acquisition to player conduct in and out of the locker room.

Also look at Tampa now. They were a pedestrian organization and not on anyone's radar for Brady other than mine, and the minute he signs and surprises all of these people in the media, then Tampa has calls from everywhere with FA's dying to go there. Gronk comes out of retirement, and Tampa has options out of the wazoo.

You mean when he was going to screw up two SB's for the Patriots by doing that? He already pouted and successfully ruined one against the Eagles, but all Beliecheck did was show his bosses and the fans how foolish he was, because Brady won an MVP after that and broke passing records in the next SB for Belicheck to screw up and then Brady carried one of the worst receiving cores ever to another SB win the following yr while Garropollo goes to a SB behind a San Fran running game, and totally falls apart in the SB even with a perfect shot to win the game.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that despite an almost 1200 yd season, the Jaguars will not exercise the fifth-year option on Leonard Fournette.

It has to be a special, special RB to earn that big 2nd contract. Fournette has fallen short of that. He always leaves you thinking there is more there.

Still, a little surprising seeing that the Jags didn't draft a single RB with any of their 9 picks.

I wonder if they think that they can re-sign Fournette at a friendlier 2021 contract, which which would have jumped from $4.16 million in base salary in 2020 to his 5th year option at $8.48 million.

I think both sides are ready to move on. The Jags should get something for Fournette and much more for Ngakoue. Stockpile picks and tank for Trevor Lawrence. I think that's what's going on in JAX.

I think I have a way to help the Jags get closer to their goal.....trade RB- Johnson and his contract to the Jags for RB- Fournette. The trade getting Johnson was so horrible that trading him for Fournette couldn't be any worse.

Good move by both sides IMO. I think he can do well there and I’m also of the belief that Dak is overrated. I would be interested to see what Dalton could do with the cast he’ll have there.
I think Dak is overrated as well, but do you think there is any way Dalton goes there to start?

Yeah as look at what happened with Titans and Mariota replaced with Tannehill and Titans in sync with each other.

The greatest buzz before Dalton signed with the Boys was that he was about to be signed by Bellichick.

That is what I heard as well. I can’t say I’m disappointed about the deal with the Cowboys because if Dak holds out or if God forbid gets injured, we have a veteran in place who IMO can lead the team. I was surprised to read that he already has a home in Dallas. Since he is from Katy I assumed if he had a home outside the Cincinnati area that it would have been Houston.

The Bears have decline Trubisky's 5th year option.
