Brandin Cooks to the Texans

I didn't pay a massive amount of attention to the Rams last year (the only game I can really remember is the London game, and purely from what I can recall of that off the top of my head, it seemed like Goff just decided Kupp was his guy). Anyone know if there was there any particular reason Cooks' production dropped off a cliff?

I'll look at DJ's contract just against the cap not in dollar-for-dollar relationship to Hopkins.

On paper this is true, what worries me is that you are looking at a group that has been plagued with injuries. Cooks less so than say Fuller but Hopkins was not only a great WR but he lasted entire seasons something Fuller has yet to do.

In a vacuum I’m ok with the trade, yes Cooks is now on his 4th team but the Pats gave up a 1st for him then the Rams gave up a 1st for him so it wasn’t like he was a bad player teams were just trying to unload. Rams mainly got rid of him because they need the cap space for Geoff.

That’s all in a vacuum, looking at the overall picture Cooks has had back to back seasons with concussions now so again it’s the same question we seem to have to ask of all our WRs now. How long before they go down with an injury.

Yeah. This franchise isn't likable. And the team isn't likable.

Outside of JJ and Deshaun as people of course.
 
If you had told me the Texans would have Fuller, Hopkins, and Cooks or Cobb I would have been more than fine with it. Hopkins would have been the straw that stirred the drink and of course hope for no injuries which is a big wish for WFV.

The bottom line, the trade of Hopkins remains confusing and really upturned the apple cart if the Texans were interested in bolstering their WR group. One thing I'm totally convinced of, O'Brien doesn't trust rookies. Because you could have found a cheap Cooks type of receiver in this incredibly deep and talented draft.

O'Brien the HC doesn't give a damn about the salary cap. The Texans are down to about 12 million. Bill appears to not care about future draft picks...or the cap. You don't find any of this troubling?

Bill O'Brien is 100% all in for this year. He's spending resources hand over fist. But even with this trade the Texans aren't better than they were 3 weeks ago, they're not. He's paying a premium (which as fans, we'll be paying for in entertainment value when he's finally fired) to get rid of people he doesn't like for those that he does like. He's not making decisions for the TEAM, he's making decisions for his ego.

But hey, OB will get along fine with Cobb and Cooks. At least for a year.

Rams needed the cap space As they were in a negative position. Cook concussions are a high risk. But the dude can play. I think he is more of an insurance policy with the issues we've had with Fuller.

How can we make this happen ? I am with you on this one. Lets work on getting him to be our new GM . Lets form a protest to Mr. McNair and take the protest to his office. Lets put it on facebook and see if we can get other fans to go wtih us and get OB fired.

Agree, I thought we had god weaponry and would use our 2nd rounders on defense. We ought to have some WR that could suit up and play, but I liked using a 3rd rounder in this deep class to get a cheap guy with the cadre of $10m guys we have. Offense better score 27 plus this year, defense is going to get smoked unless they go all out agression and get a lot of turnovers. They must think Martin and Ejifor are going to make a edge impact, and Jernigan / Charles push the pocket. Our CB group ain't good enough with the rush we have
 
We can’t pay Hopkins but now 4 of our top 13 cap hits this year are WRs... And getting paid more than all of them is the guy we took back for Hopkins.

Oh and BOB definitely has a type..
Fuller - 6-0, 186, 4.33 speed
Stills - 6-0, 194, 4.38
Cooks - 5-10, 189, 4.33
Cobb - 5-10, 191, 4.46
