Are you guys still on board with hiring Nick Caserio as GM?

Gotcha. I thought you guys were talking about a HC, I was literally thinking of every Coach I could think of with those initials. I though Brady went by TB12?

From NFL Now: The #Texans plan to move forward without a GM, with Bill O'Brien in favor of the current front office structure. pic.twitter.com/VAAao08xtG

Part of me wants to believe the Texans are saying that because of the Tampering thing. If Casserio ends up here the Patriots can argue any attempt to keep Casserio was futile as he already made contact with the Texans.

But I would think if the Texans truly want to throw off any scent of tampering they would interview a few candidates, even name a frontrunner.

With McDaniels having lost the Browns position to Kevin Stefanski, the speculation of Caserio following him is laid to rest............just makes Caserio to Texans much more likely.

I hope that’s true. If Cal wants to keep O’Brien as HC so be it. As long as he stays out of the OC’s way and STFU! I’d be on board with McDaniels OC, and Caserio as GM.

I’d really love it if Cal McNair would prove he’s not like dad; in that he eradicated this foolishness of trying to borrow another franchises identity. I’m sick of this Patriots south or Denver lite nonsense. Hire some new blood and cultivate your own identity. Otherwise you’re just pretenders.

McDaniels is going nowhere outside of NE. Just some food for thought...........Caserio has worked in the Patriots front office since 2001, working his way from a personnel assistant and scout to director of the department, helping the franchise win six Super Bowls along the way............and was an offensive coaching assistant in 2002 and served as wide receivers coach in 2007...........you know how the Texans love diversity.

There are only 3 teams that don’t currently employ a general manager: The Browns, Redskins and Texans.

No way does Caserio hook up with crazy controlling Snyder.

The Haslams bought the Browns in 2011...........where everyone goes to die...........including GMs..........within 2 years..........
  • Paul Brown (1946–1962)
  • Harold Sauerbrei (1963–1973)
  • Peter Hadhazy (1977–1984)
  • Ernie Accorsi (1985–1992)
  • Bill Belichick # (1992–1995)
  • Dwight Clark (1999–2001)
  • Butch Davis # (2002–2004)
  • Phil Savage (2005–2008)
  • George Kokinis (2009)
  • Tom Heckert Jr. (2010–2012)
  • Michael Lombardi (2013)
  • Ray Farmer (2014–2015)
  • Sashi Brown # (2016–2017)
  • John Dorsey (2017–2019)
Who do you believe, given the choice, Caserio would go with?

I don't give a damb about the Patriot way, or whatever. When Belichick went to New England he brought New York with him.

But nobody looks at the Patriots as New York prime.

McDaniels makes sense to me because he's fine tuned that offense year after year. It's looked like a WCO, an Air Raid offense, smash mouth offense, a zone stretch offense, whatever was needed at whatever particular time.

Yeah, he's had a G.O.A.T. for a boss & a G.O.A.T. implementing his plans. We won't be NE south because we don't have either. But if we can get Caserio & McDaniels with the offense we already have we can build the new dynasty.

Co-sign! I wonder who Caserio would pick to run the defense? I doubt he would trot that BS tired defense of Crennel’s out on the field.

I'd pump the brakes on dynasty talk, because that is downright crazy to suggest for any potential new HC.

Other than that, I don't see much wrong with this post. I'd welcome the idea of McDaniels and Cesario together. I just wouldn't want the long leash that McNair gave Kubiak and O'Brien.

Uncle Rico

Ur apology should be as loud as Ur disrespect was
LOL why would McDaniels come here to work FOR someone he probably views as beneath him in terms of a coaching contemporary? If OBrien was going to play GM until he gets fired and McDaniels given the HC job then it would make more sense (i guess) but he isnt coming here to be the OC thats for sure.

I hope you are right C&D because O'briens short tenure as GM has been a disastor and I hope the ownership hires Caserio or somebody else with his perceived capabilities and experience.

Any news on how long his extension is for? I can see the extension being just long enough to accomplish the following;

1) See the Patriots thru the the end of the Brady era (if he stays) or thru the search for a new QB (if he goes).
2) Wait and see what happens with OB in Houston (if he fails or succeeds as GM).

If we are in the neighborhood of a simple 2 year extension...I would think these points to be highly plausible.

IIRC he signed 5 year extension before 2019 season. I think 2019 was last year of previous deal so 4-5 left.

I don't think your recall is accurate as his prior deal was expected to expire after the 2020 draft

Ha! I can't blame the guy. Leaving a championship caliber front office with decades of success and a HoF HC for this mediocre franchise and it's naked emperor ruler would have been a fool's move.

:fortune: I will not be surprised if O'Brien the GM burns the future of this franchise like Sherman's march through the south. He's got no checks and balances.

Or he could have a solid FA/draft off-season and the Texans could become slime brothers

Egads man, give it up. He’s not coming here. You’re delving into loser territory now. The hot cheerleader isnt dumping the star qb for the dork. Move on.

I wonder what the Texans see in Caserio? I’m reading up on him and have yet to find anything on him that wows me. The Patriots just had a losing season without the GOAT. Besides Gilmore, and the RBs being serviceable, the Patriots’ roster is compiled of trash. I’d rather be trying to copy the Chiefs or Bills instead of the Patriots, as they ain’t sh1t without TB12.
What say you?

They’re stuck with this New England 2.0 crap. That idea didn’t work so it’s time to move on.
