D. Watsons leadership...

I love Watson, I think his skill is unquestionable. However has anyone ever seen him fired up on the sideline or trying to fire other team mates up ? He is just so quiet, when they came cank to score 41 on us, he just went to the bench and sat down. We all know how important it is for your QB to be a leader.

Look at Mahomes, they were down 24 and he is over there rallying his troops. Not blaming this loss solely on him, but I would like to see some passion!

I got news for you buddy. It was nobody on offense’s fault that O’Brien called a stupid ass trick play deep in our own territory while being up 21-7. It’s also sure as hell not Watson’s fault Carter fumbled the ball in the red zone. O’Brien killed all the momentum we had!

As far as leadership, he gets on receivers asses whenever they make mistakes. Maybe you just haven’t paid attention.

DW doesn’t show he can self motivate, or motivate others. I said that during and after the Buffalo game.

He sent out a text message to the players about being great...think about the last time a text message motivated you.

He is just too nice of a guy. I don’t think he has a mean bone in his body.

**** happens in games that is not his fault. Has anyone ever seen him standing over the offensive bench giving a speech like we see Brady, Rodgers, etc when things arent going right ? I never have is all I'm saying, sometimes he seems like isnt interested in the game.

You mean like Rivers? Should he be acting like that?

Lol exactly. It’s Watson job to lead O’Brien his head coach/ OC.

too funny

JJ Watt, Hop and several other actual football players will disagree with you 100%. Best believe that

The guy is usually at his best when the game is on the line, usually. Id say thats a good leader. He isn’t perfect.

Why heck do YOU need to see him do things that YOU think display leadership?
Do something other than high fiving the opponent and than go kick back on the bench chewing your gum. I saw mahomes giving sideline motivational sideline speeches and then throwing 5 TDs.....

Running around on the sideline is not the only way to show leadership. At the same time, I have no idea if Watson was doing that or not because they are not covering the sideline every play. The media goes to what fans seek and at the moment that means looking to seeing what KC, a legit contender, and Mahomes was doing so the camera favored their sideline as to be expected.

Either way, if the team accepts and appreciate Watson's style of motivating and play then that's all that is needed. I've seen QB's that run around doing the ranting on the sideline or such and I have seen the more casual. Both styles have success to a degree but in the end these are grown men and professional athletes. If there is no self-motivation then there's a problem.

This is the last thing I think we should even worry about. Speculation and wonder when we don't see the sideline every play, when we aren't in the locker room, etc., is pointless. It's too much assuming spent. I question more the playcalling when we all know we should have a moving pocket, should see more runs on the edge especially with the likes of a Duke Johnson, Watson and such instead of seeing Hyde up the gut. I question more why we don't do no huddle when every time we do it we seem to have more success. Those are more of a concern.

Doesn't mean he has to be that guy. The team does need a guy like that on the roster too and Butt-Chin doesn't count. Where's the guy other people on his side of the ball rally around? I know JJ Watt has been that guy in the past but he's getting up there and the rest of the defense is a bunch of chumps and jags mostly. The secondary in particular is everyone else's garbage. Where's the Bernard Pollard who makes that play that just blows a guy up and fires the entire unit up? Where's the Vonta Leach or Andre Johnson who makes everyone else just get in line behind them? I'm not talking about talent but rather their approach to the game. Where's the Mario Ellie cause if you're going to have a relatively nice, passive superstar (Hakeem) you're gonna need some teeth somewhere else to make that work.

But he's absolutely a leader in his own way. Established leader.

I don't think you have been paying attention. dw4 had terrible game. keep over throwing and under throwing when it mattered during 2nd half. also holding ball too long again more than few time. at this point dw4 is not a leader. just great qb. he's on right way to be next tony romo now.

Today we got to see what a true leader/franchise QB looks like.

Let's be real we had a blocked punt, and a muffed punt return. Outside of that what did the offense really do....
This is the truth of the game. We were never in it, even up by 24.

It’s a not very good team with a crap coach and worse ownership. And it’s not going to get better until/unless ownership does.

And that seems unlikely.

By contrast, Astros, Rockets.

Not sure that I agree that we were never in it, obviously if you believe that everything is pre determined and that we can not alter our fate than you can now believe that to be true. Being up 24-0 we were most def in it, and then out of it just as quick !

I was wondering why Deshaun Watson wasn't playing the air guitar in the fourth quarter like he was in the first ? I guess he started celebrating TOO Early ! LOSER !!!!!

I woke up today with something on my mind. As much as we talk about Watson being great (and he is) we just got plastered by the guy the Texans were hoping to get (Mahomes) and were (as usual) outmaneuvered for. We may be all tickled to death that Watson can do magic tricks but he is absolutely our consolation prize from that draft because the front office here is indecisive, slow, and stupid. When he isn't running for his life or building habits that make him look more like EJ Manuel than DeShaun Watson he's great but anyone who could look at their respective careers and say "Yeah, we got a guy who is just as good as Patrick Mahomes in the end so it's all good" must be self medicating.

Even the Texans knew the guy to get was Mahomes. They just failed to go get the guy. "Failed" is sort of a recurring theme where this franchise is concerned.

IMO Watson's PLAY isn't in question at all. He does more than the offense is otherwise capable of.

LEADERSHIP? Something I've mentioned before is he has Cam Newton's demeanor. Seeming to be quite isolationist ... instead of "rallying the troops" like we saw with Mahomes, he gives off the impression at the end of the bench of "I need some ME time".
