FIRE O'BRIEN NOW!!!

I have one incident on my fan record I'm totally ashamed of. I somehow managed to get comped seats at the old Summit to a playoff game - Rockets vs. Nuggets during the early "Akeem" days and Sampson formed the twin towers with him. Best seats I ever got to a game. Like 4-5 rows from the floor near one of the baskets. Only playoff game I ever went to so I was pumped.

I was having some typical fan fun in the first half but as the game progressed into the second half, I was more and more pissed at one of the Denver players. He was being really dirty in my mind and getting away with it. I wished I could remember who - but he was a starter and a well known NBA player at the time. Finally I had had enough and I started calling him everything but a white man and I knew he could hear me. Finally it got under his skin and he looked my way and ran off a string of expletives and for a second I thought he was going to take off into the stands after me lol. I was downright rude. I don't remember all of what I said, but it was personal and to this day I feel bad about it.

Once he went off on me, I sat there like a church mouse the rest of the night. He put me in my place for sure and honestly - I deserved it. I let my emotions get the better of me and I was younger and way stupider back then. I was probably somewhere in my early to mid 20's. I think it was 1986. Might have been 87 not sure. I was not fully mature. I'm WAY calmer now. I'd never dream of doing something like that now. I might boo but that would be the extent.

Billy O is not far from my age. With age should come wisdom and maturity. Hecklers gonna heckle. I'm sure he was pissed that his team played like **** the first half and his emotions were on slow boil. Still, come on Billy O - ya gotta be better than this. At the least, you know he'll be called on the carpet by Cal. Only in my dreams, would this lead to his dismissal but a man can have dreams can't he?

Lol, also some naughty language, but mostly very lol..

Houston, Texas- Head coach Bill O'Brien came out on Friday to apologize for his tirade with a fan after an ugly loss against the Denver Broncos. The Texans were down 31-3 at half time in their week 14 game against the Broncos and walking in the tunnel, a fan yelled "You Suck!" in the direction of O'Brien, and he fired back.....

Not much of an apology, but meh.

BO'B issues an apology

I don't know if Bill owed the apology. Heck, the NFL is entertainment, and that was certainly entertainment. Emotions and passions run high, and for good reason - it is entertaining. That he apologized, or if he wouldn't have, wouldn't make any difference to me. I've participated at the amateur level in quite a few sports, and it is easy to get all wrapped up in the moment - that is one of the draws, actually. Fierce competition sometimes leads to heated words.

O'Brien's apology came off as sincere to me, he didn't over-apologize, and I have no fault with any of it - if anything, I'm glad BOB was pissed that he and his team were stinking up the joint.

I don’t know, you’re head coach and GM, be a little more professional. Think there might be kids there listening to that go down? Not a good look.

Not excusing the fan either, but we pay a lot of money to watch some of the crap he puts out there. And yes, that game was crap.

O'Brien stated, "I was made aware of a video that's out there at the halftime of the Denver game coming off the field. I used inappropriate language, and I just want to apologize for that."

When asked about his famed temper from his New England days and being labeled "Tea Pot" for his short fuse. O'Brien apologized once again.

"I apologize for it," O'Brien added. "Like I said, just inappropriate comments. I apologize for it and sorry that it happened."

I certainly see your point, and in reality, you are correct. He should have kept his cool and ignored the irate fan. Still, I'm not gonna crucify him for it.

Now, I will crucify him if calls a piss poor game on Sunday! And on the other hand, if he comes out aggressive and calls a good game, and puts the players in a position to win, I will give him the credit he would deserve.

Not crucifying him for it either. Just very unprofessional.

LMAO. I thought it was after the game. It was half time?

I Know its not professional and shouldn't happen but...

some small part of me is glad to see that emotion. I especially like it considering how bad we were that week. I hope this team gets to see that when they sh*t the bed.

Maybe I'm just jaded from so many bs stock answers to hard questions:

"We just have to execute. "

"That's on me."

I for one enjoyed the harsh honesty of a guy like vangundy.

It's always about the children?

LMAO

Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) Tweeted:
In the coaching world, #Panthers fans may want to watch #LSU vs. #Clemson in the national title game. LSU’s passing game coordinator Joe Brady is name being considered by Carolina coach Matt Rhule for his new OC, sources say. Rhule has other options, but Brady is a strong one.

Can we get in on something like one of these? I hear an OC can help.

We don't need Jon Kitna. We've got one of the best in Carl Smith & we also have Tj Yates.

Vrabel has a running back and OB has a quarterback. They both get the same pained expression during games, like they're watching their mothers get kidnapped by UFOs. Neither has proved anything yet.
So you disagree with Burleson.
Okay.

Game like this is why I don't care about winning the division. Anything can happen in the playoffs. Let's hope tomorrow our team comes out swinging

The chances of Tennessee winning three in a row on the road are slim in the regular season. Slimmer in the playoffs.

We have to win a road game tomorrow. If we do we could be hosting the AFCCG at Reliant. Increasing our chances of getting to the Super Bowl.

I find it interesting that even with his experience with the Patriots and Texans, when he selected his first OC, Vrabel went with Matt Lafleur from the Shanahan/Kubiak WCO tree instead of the EP offense.

Even after Lafleur left for the Packers‘ job, he promoted from within and kept the WCO with a rookie OC.
He was wise enough to know that offense was probably all Brady. Plus, what separates him from OB is that Vrabel doesn't try to do everything himself.

One of them has improved his team , the other has been mired in mediocrity.
O'Brien is batting better than .500.
I do think he needs an exciting OC who can bring out the best in this offense.
He has burdened himself with too much responsibility.

I’m just going to casually wander back over into this thread after giving the bloke the benefit of the doubt for the past 18 months or so.
