Where is the Texan VS Titan thread

Welcome to the boards. You're now the official game starter thread guy. :tiphat:

Seems the more the Texans choke, the more people take longer in starting the game thread.

It should explain the level of frustration felt by all. We cant even get a legit game day thread started now days.

Game thread creation seems to be tied to enthusiasm for the upcoming week. The Broncos thread came up quick after we beat NE. It's crickets so far this week outside of our still trying to get over the "piss down your leg" performance this past Sunday against a team that had no business coming into our house and beating us like that.

We all know that it is very difficult to maintain a hot streak they way the Titans are right now. The pressure builds with each win. Maybe we can take the wind out of their sails. Maybe not. We shall see.

It seems the quality has gone down dramatically. Remember in years before we had people arguing because there were like 2 or 3 of them. lol

Yup was fairly common to see 2 posters start a game day thread.

Now we revert back to some off topic thread earlier in the week...

You see, the Texans have done it to me again. I promise I tried to be apathetic to this season, go into each game with the "don't get too pumped up" attitude, but here we are. Three games left in the season and this game Sunday is for the AFCS lead. So I have to watch now. I wasn't going to, really I wasn't! So regardless of this outcome on Sunday, I'll have to watch again the next week to see if we can remain in the playoffs. And then of course if the Tacks beat the Saints.....dadgummit, you see......UGH!

Now, Mr. Henry may rush for 250 Sunday. And I'm not sure I can handle getting punked by Tannehill after that prepubescent QB toyed with us last week. It was a few years ago I think that the Texans went out and shat the bed then came back and boat raced the Tacks the next week. O'Brien called one of his best games and we all were praising him for it, maybe not all of us but most of us. Let's hope he has one of those moments this Sunday. For once I'd like to finish the game in this thread and not the drunk thread!

I have a feeling OB has this game circled (that comment still bothered me from the Ravens game) and is going to try and prepare his team for it. OB loves him some divisional games. He already won his SB this year against the Pats.

I hope so.. But he may have a leg injury that hampers him a bit..
Smoke screen?

He looks the best I've seen him.

Some people thought he doesn't have the speed and horizontal agility to get to the edge, and I disagreed.

The Titans running game plays a huge part in the WCO that Tannehill is also wet suited for.

That Oline seems to play better together now, probably helped by the scheme.

He was taken out early in the Raider game... Hamstring looked to be tightening up... Havent heard much about it this week though.. So maybe he is good to go.

Up by three TDs in the 4th quarter, there was no need to put him back out there again. And he still rushed for 103 yards.

Henry did not practice today. I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see him until Friday and maybe not even that.

We Titans fans are watching closely to the injury report to see if we get back some of our dinged up secondary. CB Leshawn Sims came back today and Kenny Vaccaro practiced today after being in concussion protocol after the Oakland game. No CB Adoree Jackson today...we'll see if he practices tomorrow. The Texans receiving corp is very dangerous and Watson can create a lot of time for pass plays. So we need all the help we can get.

Could be a slugfest.
Vegas is suggesting it.

The Texans have the edge on ST.
The Titans have the edge in Defense.

Watson might be able to exploit the weak state of the defensive backfield of the Titans.
On the other hand, the Texans D has been pretty bad of late.

Playing at home might give the final advantage to your Titans.

@Sevenfeet What do you think is the winning recipe for the Texans? In other words, what do you feel the Texans will have to do in order to win?

I'm picking the Titans to win this one. Henry running wild on our secondary just scares the hell out of me. Those guys don't want to tackle anyone.

JamTex would have the upcoming matchup thread, which turned into the gamethread, right after the game on Sunday. He usually had it ready on Monday.

I blame OB for managing to knock out even the most optimistic poster around here.

He was given grief over the inconsistancy :ant:

As evidenced by our performance, home field means nothing.

Like many of us, I guess after that beat down by the Broncos, he still hasn't made the upward turn toward hope for the next game.

I find it strange that Texans are practicing in the practice dome. The temp today will shadow that we can expect in Tenn, where the temp is expected to be ~45 degrees with 40% chance of rain. If the Texans are worried about practicing in the cold because of the increase potential for soft tissue injuries, rather than having no preparatory accommodation is much more concerning.......i.e., with only first exposure to extreme conditions coming when playing in Tenn.

Not sure there is a specific recipe...only taking advantage of specific problems.

Tannehill has been known to put the ball on the ground (four fumbles this season). You have to get to him and without Watt, that’s tough. The Titans oline has been problematic early on, less so in the last few games. No sacks last week.

I’d say get a hat on Henry except that often doesn’t work. Last week he ran for 103 yards and 99 of them was after first contact. Good luck trying to take him down. Maybe his dinged up hammy will slow him down but we’ll see.

Watson has to be the second half guy from last weeks game and not the first half guy. Honestly I was shocked that the Texans didn’t have any offense until the game was well out of reach. If he gets out of the pocket, then that’s his best play since our edge rush still isn’t fearsome (although Landry continues to improve). You guys haven’t seen Jeffrey Simmons yet...that could be interesting.

Tennessee’s secondary is a problem with injuries. Will we see Vaccaro, Sims and Jackson? Who knows. If all three are out, we could get exposed. If two of those guys are back, I like Tennessee’s chances better.

Shouldn't be a problem for Titans. Our front four hasn't been able to generate pressure on their own. Against the Pats, Marcus Cannon was having problems guarding Jacob Martin's speed. But Martin is a one-dimensional pass rusher, relies totally on his speed. Once the OT gets a hold of him, he isn't going anywhere.

Our front 7 is pretty good against the run. The past few seasons, we were dominant... but if you lose Clowney and Watt, the rush defense is going to take a hit. Not to mention, we had guys in the secondary like Kareem Jackson and Matheiu that were excellent tacklers. The secondary, today, are better cover guys but not very good against the run.

Without Will Fuller, we lose our "big play" guy. We then become this dink & dunk team, looking for quick-short passes. With this approach, you need a team that executes very well just about on every play, which they haven't been able to do. In the Denver 1st half, they got into Broncos territory on every drive (except for the last). One drive they got a penalty to make it 3rd & 10, another drive they fumbled to turn the ball over, another Watson took a bad sack losing 9 yards, and another a penalty made it 2nd & 15. They were able to move the ball against the Broncos, they just need to stop being their worse enemy.

I'd say job 1 has to be Henry.
That has been the case ever since he enters the NFL.
Limit his carries under 20 is a must.
The fewer the number, the better the chance.
Easier said than done though.

Very easier said than done. For the first 2.75 years as a Titans, Henry had the (deserved) reputation of going down once the first hit came. He was tackled for loss often. He tried to juke in the backfield and got burned a lot. Then the Eddie George "coaching" happened and a light bulb came on in his head. Now he's always pounding forward. If there's a cutback, it's quick and then pounding forward. He's dragging guys with him for extra yardage. And heaven help the secondary if he gets up to full speed (20+ MPH) on the second level.

The current mood is Nashville hasn't been this sky high in a long time. I hope we don't come out and lay an egg. One thing that makes me think that won't happen is that this team has often gone out and let the opponent score first and then come back and kick butt. These guys truly believe.

Texans will definitely NOT score first... so we got you there! Haha!

Texans 24 Titans 23
You guys wil dress 3 kickers, each will miss a FG.
One of them will also miss a PAT.

Our kicker will miss just 2.

Texans win when the new guy you're about to sign miss the FG as time run out.

I think we have handle Big Time rushers in the past. I will be surprised if Henry gets more than a hundred yards against us. it is the rest of the Titan team that concerns me but even more it is entire Texans roster that makes me shudder. We beat us.

If there is one soft underbelly to the Titans right now, it's the field kicking game. Our punter is the best in the business....you WILL begin most drives backed up. But Ryan Succop got injured last year (knee), had surgery, kicked some in the preseason but it wasn't good and went on IR for the front half of the season. We hired another kicker who started ok and then stunk up the joint, so he was fired for another kicker who wasn't much better. Then Succop came back and has been terrible....1 for 5 on field goals including a upright doink last week. His extra points have been better. He doesn't have the leg anymore and we hired another kicker for kickoffs and long field goals and that guy wasn't that good on kickoffs last week either. Fortunately our offense has been so good that field goals haven't mattered as much. But if it gets down to a close game and a field goal ties it or wins it, a lot of Titans fans will be very nervous. The Titans are actually under 50% for field goal completions this season, which is crazy. Whatever's going on with Succop, he's still not healthy.
