Takeaways from the Falcons game.

Happy to see a big win but Falcons D is so bad I don't really know what to think.
Watson was very sharp today and took what the defense gave him when he needed to.
The oline played well in pass pro and the ground game. Watson needs to bottle what he did today and take a swig before each game.
Fuller had a career day and Carlos Hyde is just bad ass.
Darren Fells had two TDs as well.
If only they could play this way every week.
Next weeks team is going to be a completely different ball of wax.
I'll open it up.

Something changed in the playcalling.
I don't know if a conversation was had....but things look a bit more simplified which leads to Watson getting the ball out much quicker.

Someone joked about having Dabo Swinny on skype....but I do not think that is far from the truth. No...I doubt Swinny was involved...but our play calling definitely resembled one built to keep Watson upright and comfortable.

Did you guys see the plethora of slants across the middle? Multiple receivers where hit in stride today....and I loved every minute of it.

Yes, the middle of the field was used this game and the routes were not slow developing. More misdirection as well

Before the game started the announcers mentioned OB wanted to go back to some of the plays from his rookie season. Maybe that’s what happened.

Did we get a sack today?

Duke has no burst to get through the line. He's got a slow build to his speed you wouldn't expect from a small guy.

OL, saw some good. Saw some bad. I know they're still learning to play together but you'd think if the Falcons only have one guy worth planning for, you'd do a better job of it.

Speaking of which I saw Martin doing a lot of pointing today. Is he now calling protection?

I hope the light has come on for OB that maybe his playbook needs to accomodate the skill set of his players, not force them to become something they are not.

Let this be the first step in the evolution of a new offensive direction.

Duke is really better as a receiving back, which should have been obvious to O'Brien

I believe he also has an offense that can run a two TE set that the pats ran with Gronk and Hernandez. We may not have the same type of TEs like that but Fells and Akins have shown they can catch and create mismatches.

Takeaways, this was fun no question but the Failcons are a crappy team even by our standards. Now that being said that offense was a thing of beauty and you can tell Watson was comfortable and having fun. He also wasn’t sacked a single time.

The real question of course was this a one off or has BoB finally switched it up. If he has then we could be in for a good season where we are actual threats to teams. I’m not ready to same good times are ahead but it was definitely fun to watch and I’ll be smiling about it this week.

Do people still think Stills is better?

@NextGenStats: Will Fuller was effective at all levels of the field, finishing with 3 deep receptions for 109 yards & 2 TD on targets of 20+ air yards.

@Will_Fuller7 accounted for 49% of team yards (136), averaging 4.0 yards of separation when targeted.

I think we would be unstoppable with all of those guys healthy and having defined roles.

This 100%.

Too early to say OB turned the corner. We have games like this all last year with DW, with Osweiller previously, with Hoyer, and with Fitzpatrick. Up and down offense. Never consistent.

Was at the game and echo what has been said, but would mention
- Solid game management, no stupid TO or challenge usage
- Liked the short kickoffs, great coverage, starting inside their 20 all day
- Liked the heavy package change up and throwing shots from it
- Liked the play calling and courage to win and trust DW4, kept them guessing and let him throw to win, not run and hope to stop them
- Very patient with aggressiveness when needed. Lots of taking what was there, but everyone had a 30 yard play

So night and day

The Falcons died the moment Lil Shanny left.

Watson had two throws over 15yds that I'm aware of.

Edit: thanks KDog for the conformation. Wait I read it wrong ... 6 over 15yds?
Looks like 3/5 over 15 yards and 1/1 right at 15 yards

Great team win today by our Texans. I hate Bill O’Brien but have to give him credit calling a good game. Ball got out of Deshaun’s hands quickly and had some intermediate routes to throw finally. Fuller was incredible and shows how dangerous he can be when healthy. Our safeties are proving to be one of the strengths of our defense, Gipson and Reid both had great games. Most fun home game I have been to since Deshaun’s rookie year in the game against the Titans

WFV had a great game no doubt but if you’re asking who I’m taking in a battle of crippled WRs; I’d take the healthy one every week. Throw Coutee in there too. Maybe 3 good hammys combines.

Akins had a TD right? I may be wrong.
He did have one nice big play reception for a first down I do remember.
He had a big catch but I can’t remember if it was for a TD either. I like him but I want to see two 6’7” TE’s creating red zone mismatches like Fell’s taunting TD catch.

Also really enjoyed the multiple formations, personnel combinations and play design used today.
Will Fuller needs to see more targets going forward...
My take
Fuller is by far the most dangerous receiver on the team, not the best in all respect to Hopkins, but the most dangerous.

Anytime he is on the field, the defense has to react and even then one slight hesitation and Fuller is gone.
