No chance Martin gets benched after just signing that ridiculous extension. If the Texans would wise up and put Fulton at C and line up Tunsil Howard Fulton Scharpie R.Johnson, I think the protection would get a lot better.
I'm not overly concerned with Howard getting schooled a bit today. Jax's defense is going to do that to lots of teams this year.
It seemed like OB and RAC were determined to lose this game but a few players wouldn't let them. So glad I didn't have to sit through OT.

I didn't get to watch the game because I was working. Did Howard show any flashes that he might be a guy capable of being a quality starter someday? Going up against Campbell is a tough welcome to the NFL debut.

Kelemente should not start. Howard will not get better riding the bench.Yep, he's a rookie, a small school one and a reach to be taken in the first round.
Can't form any conclusions other than Kelemente should start.
Rookies need time. He needs to be developed properly.

Lots of guys get better on the bench. Watson has taken way too many hits.
With Tytus doing his Jean-Claude Van Damme impression he needs some learning time
I don't think Kelemete is that much better than a rookie doing rookie things. If Watson's going to take the hits anyway, I'd rather see Howard getting valuable experience, and hopefully learning and getting better each week. Already know what Kelemete gives you.
I'm just throwing this out there. But I don't think KDog wants Howard to succeed. Especially not this early. If Howard rides the bench all season it gives him another point to argue.
Only two sacks today if you don't count the bad snap he fell on.

I'm not sure Kdog wants the Texans to succeed .
The Texans cannot succeed with bill OBrien as coach

Lol always using weird points to make your argument. Our OL doesn’t look like theirs. Howard is equal to Kelemente. Start Howard and let him get betterNot sure how you can say I don't want him. To succeed. I've said many times he looks like a solid prospect.
But he will protect Watson worse than Kelemente who at least is an average veteran. That's the priority. Dillard is on the bench for the eagles and I think they know what they're doing

How does Howard develop if he’s not getting real game reps? Get them now, learn the game, get things slowing down so that he’s not a rookie again next year.I don't understand why people keep overrating rookies. Even the best rookies struggle. This is asking for failure like with Rankin last year.
Kelemente is nothing special but he is a solid vet who will be better until Tytus develops. Tytus obviously has far more upside and our goal should be to make him reach that.

That's like taking your worst employee and having them train new employees. If we had good vets for him to learn from, this would actually make sense.Isn't that how a lot of rookies develop? It's not the only way but they can. Practice, watching tape, getting coached, seeing how the vets do it, etc
Watson was sacked four times today, for the 8th game in a row, he was sacked 4+ times.
A little better than last week …. But still not good enough.
On a short week with two new starters.A little better than last week …. But still not good enough.
The 4 sacks we gave up, has anyone reviewed them, yet?
Not yet but I think even more concerning is how Watson gets hit on just about every pass play even if there isn't a sack.

Updated PFF totals..
LT - Laremy Tunsil - 127 snaps - 2 penalties - 2 sacks - 61.9 grade
LG - Senio Kelemete - 64 - 0 - 1 - 73.4
LG - Tytus Howard - 64 - 2 - 0 - 40.3
C - Nick Martin - 128 - 0 - 0 - 70.0
RG - Zach Fulton - 128 - 0 - 0 - 59.1
RT - Seantrel Henderson - 65 - 2 - 0 - 41.7
ST - Roderick Johnson - 64 - 0 - 1 - 60.3
Overall - 6 - 4 - 58.1 grade
I think it should be:
Tunsil
Kelemente
Martin
Fulton
Roderick
This guys are more experienced and we can develop Howard/Scharping behind them. Honestly I would have cut Seantrel and continued to develop Rankin as well.
So you'd have Duke Johnson as the only running back worth trotting out?
Not sure I understand. Can still use Hyde
Not necessarily, if we continued to develop Mankin like you suggested.
I mean on the bench. And he'd be taking the roster spot of Seantrel who is already benched anyway.
Maybe the Chiefs don't want to trade for Henderson?
Wade Smith is on the radio right now killing John Lopez and his trash PFF stats regarding the o-line. Basically saying that he like most other pros don’t trust PFF...or trust them very little. he also said he reviewed the tape, o-line was only really responsible for 1 of those sacks...1 b/c he didn’t get rid of the ball when he should’ve...ive looked at it...he definitely had a hot read he could’ve went to. The other shouldn’t even be considered a sack, but a fumble....
Also stated how bloated the qb hits category is...and a lot of the time it doesn’t have a whole lot to do with the o-line...

I take PFF with a grain of salt basically because I don’t know how it is they come up with their grades. I mean, with passer rating, for example, there’s a number that you come up with, but at least I know the numbers that are plugged into the formula. So when a QB has a good passer rating, I know those numbers that are used have to be good. That still doesn’t tell the whole story, of course, but it does help tell the story.
Not the case when grading guys that don’t have traditional stats, like OL.
That said, I didn’t need a bad PFF grade on Henderson to know he had a bad game. I saw that with my eyeballs. They agreed with their grade of him and apparently someone on the Texans did too because he was catching splinters yesterday.
But back to PFF grades, does somebody else have a better way to grade than them? Serious question.
The 4 sacks we gave up, has anyone reviewed them, yet?
PFF states 1 sack was caused by the offensive line and 3 were on Watson.
