RB Corps

Should we re-sign Lamar Miller

Jay Ajayi and Donald Penn should've been signed a long time ago...

If we spend a trillion dollars signing Marshawn Lynch, I'm gonna be livid

I wonder how much it would cost to get Mike Boone from the Vikings? Buried behind Dalvin Cook and 3rd round rookie Mattison. Had 2nd highest Sparq score to Saquon in last year’s draft for RBs.

I know one thing... I don't want Drake from Miami... last year on his contract... we'll have to pay him next year... we need to just bust my trade and give up both 1st round picks to Washington for Trent and Derrius Guice

Do you get a RB to come in a play blocking role?

Who?

Which RB cost the most vs. who has the most value out of Free Agency and in a trade.

Smallwood from Philly is a guy I would give up a 6th for. Good RB and can pass block plus catch the ball.
Please no more giving up picks for player trades. Cal had better shut Bob down and say look, do with what you got and make most out of it. We better see some damn good coaching for a change or put him on a bus back to New England.

You wont draft a RB in the 6th/7th rd better than Smallwood.

Speaking of the Pats, making a trade like this would be very Belichickian. Look at the trades he made in the last 2 weeks to add depth to the OL after injuries hit. Elemour (Sp) Bodine/Cunningham are all good depth pieces that were had for late rd draft picks.

Smallwood would be the equivalent of these guys, but is a better player. The Texans could sure use the RB depth.

He doesn’t belong anywhere near an NFL team in my opinion.

Johnson and Hyde will not be enough.
Hyde is terrible. Duke a little better only because of receptions. I would guess that close to half the NFL has a better 3rb back than our first. Just my opinion.
BOB really sucks. Probably take him a quarter of the season to figure this out.

I’m done trying to be Belichickian because O’Brian is not Belichick.

I believe in doing things Belichick would do regardless of who the HC is.

People dont like BOB I get that, I do like the fact that he found the answer at LT, regardless of picks he had to give up.

Posters place more worth in draft picks (What might be) rather than what is (Proven players.) and we're draftniks. Do you want Watson to get the crap beaten out of him again this yr.

You said you like Howard at LG. Well, a left side of the OL of Tunsil/Howard should be a great improvement over what we've seen the last couple of yrs. Dont worry, Tunsil will be here long-term.

Yes, left side set. I just don’t have confidence that Texans have ability to resign both given track record. When you know the buyer’s got to have it, needs and wants something agents will leverage that against you. They just mortgaged the future to sign Tunsil but he’s still in his rookie contract and Clowney was just peanuts compared to what his agent will want. Howard is the Texans only #1 pick for three years now. His 2nd contract will make him one of the heighest paid, if not the highest LG in the NFL if our projections are correct.

All I gotta say is Texans better win this year and next year to justify moves/future contracts at same time validating Butt-Chin and Cletus a force to be reckoned with :highfive:

They're going to have to pay Tunsil, no doubt about this. Gotta pay to play, I would sign Tunsil for the next 5 yrs and draft a guy to train up after yr 3.

We dont know about Howard, but he will be cheap help for the next 4-5 yrs.

What you're missing is that the OL still sucks and now it will be almost impossible to improve it

We will see about this.

I'm willing to give them 6 games to jell.

I'm much more optimistic that the OL will be much improved. The left side of the OL in particular should be a huge upgrade. Tunsil/Howard.

Not drafting a good young RB in the rd and selecting project TE Warring has me more concerned. They basically traded a 3rd (Duke) after that fact now added Hyde but with track record drafting RB’s shows they have no idea how to evaluate talent @ almost any positional group. So no different with OL, where I thought a good young Center was a must.

What I really hate was handling of Gaine, plan B fell through so they figured just muddle season and address it then. Very least Cal should have hired a consultant to advise him outside of this inner circle.

That said OL still will suck, for at least awhile, wonder if Roderick Johnson could play RT if Henderson goes down again

Even if Henderson is healthy, he sucks. Roderick will have to take over. But let's be real, Roderick has sucked his whole career too, but at least there's hope he can be decent

You do know in those 6 games Watson will get murdered right. He's going to take a beating while the line is trying to jell.

But the objective was to protect Watson at all cost right.

Well I don't consider that as protecting him at all cost.

This skit should've been taken care of months ago. Not a week before the season starts. Lol

Like O'Brien said, finding and developing an LTs is hard. So he just give a mountain of picks for a proven one instead of trying to do his job.

That's why I do not understand why a few are still in this coaches corner. Or why my boy Steel thinks this was a great move in protecting Watson. I'm like what player whether it was through the draft or FA has this regime developed? ( offensive line wise) then for the coach to make that statement should've tossed up the red flag for his faithful followers.

Ur apology should be as loud as Ur disrespect was
If this team was truly “all in” Melvin Gordon would be in the building.

How much is enough?

If I'm Cal I'd have been furious that two years after Rick, six years into Bill O'Brien we don't have a team my HC wants on the field.

I don't care why that's the case. Ain't no "way-back machine" to fix it. What can we do one week before the season starts to fix it, what would be the consequences, can we get through it?

This does not mean I think the trades for Tunsil & Mingo/Martin were worth what we gave up.

But I'm loving the talent & depth we have on the 53 going into the season. Not thrilled about the RB situation. Do we even have a starter?

& I am so glad we're not going to make do through another season to find out we still need to draft for OL.

Super Bowl or Bust :trophy:
I'm just saying, we can't keep doing what we've been doing. I like the players we brought in. They each addressed specific needs we all saw on the roster.

I get that the costs seem way out of whack. To justify the cost this team has to be in a Super Bowl this year or next. Imo.

That sounds unrealistic. Not likely to happen. I don't think it's going to happen.

For all I know this will turn out like all the cap space we freed up & didn't use.

But I feel a lot better about our chances of advancing in the playoffs than I did a week ago.

The rest, we're just going to have to wait & see how it plays out.

RB won't be the focus of this offense. That they went out and got Stills and Tunsil instead of a RB says we're going vertical not ground & pound.
If one or two of the current crop can block and catch screens and dump offs that'll be fine. If we get more than that from RB, it's icing.

2nd and 10.

Johnson up the middle.

2 yards and a cloud of dust.

Rinse and repeat. OB wont abandon the run.

Please don't ever underestimate Bill O'Brien and his offensive philosophy. You can best believe we will see both Johnson and Hyde up the middle on 1st and 2nd down a lot. Again he wants to control the time of possession.

I realize old habits are hard to break
but I think he'd have gone after Gordon with those picks instead of a LT and a speed WR if we were all in on the running game.

I could be wrong

Great Corps but Miller got hurt. That’s football. Last year if Miller got hurt.....we didn’t address that?
