2019 NFL Draft 1st Round discussion

Hate that Dillard got picked the pick before and Gaine settled. Devlin is on the clock and his job isn't going to be easy.

We're going to find out how good of a coach Devlin is.

I like Howard....in round 2. Felt like a reach, but if he turns out to be good, then who cares.

I want us to trade back into round 1 for a corner.

I had Howard as a potential target in rd 2, but this is a round too early imho. He's got ability and a high upside I grant you. I mean he has potential to become a first round value, but our oline coach and BOB haven't developed anyone yet that "has upside". Anyone? Beuhler?

IMO, Ford was the better prospect overall and a more ready player to come in and be a beast on day one.

Trying to take the positive approach, he has potential to be a good starting RT for the next decade if he can develop. He's the best RT prospect this team has drafted, including a certain 3rd rounder drafted over a decade ago.

Take in the fact he also isn't there to be on stage.....meaning no one had him going in the first. I've already read a couple reactions to this and everyone has said this was a horrible pick.

If he's better than Spencer this is a win.

I loved Spencer.

F@#K potential

just heard from a reliable source that they wanted howard in the 2nd rd. texans didnt want to take a chance and get jumped again so they took him with their first pick. this guaranteed they get the 2nd rder they wanted.

Well I like Howard just not here..so as Tytus is considered a down the road starter it has to mean Davenport starts LT as I thought with Howard to aim for 2020. Standig did have Howard @ 42 to Bengals but as they got Jonah maybe Howard better than I thought. SHeesh if we just had an oline coach. He only benched 21 and hasn't played right side since HS. At least we can control him for five years. I still think at least one more OLineman coming.

Anybody seen anything on this kid before they just **** all over the pick?
Well there goes our goody 2 shoes reputation. He was suspended for the entire 2014 season for team rule infraction...........and permanently dismissed from the team in 2015.

Makes since as they can still get a corner in second and they may only want one CB day two. Puzzling but I got to see how it goes.

BOB thinks he knows more than anyone else. Only have yes men and a know nothing owner. He bullies the others into doing what he wants. OK if he was actually competent but.................. we are screwed as long as he is here. Damage has been done.

That makes sense. Howard and Little were the only guys left with LT potential. Howard wasn't getting to #54 and Gaine wasn't dealing picks. Have to get by with Davenport or Kalil in 2019, and hope Howard will be ready to roll in 2020.

Combine info from Zierlein on Howard
Overview
Ascending tackle prospect who will require additional work with technique and in the weight room to fully realize his potential. Howard is a gifted athlete with rare quickness and fluidity as both a run and pass blocker and his play issues are correctable with more work. While he will be dinged for level of competition, his upside was on full display with his play against Auburn. He needs development, but he's much more than a developmental prospect and could find a starter's spot within his first two years.

Howard would have been gone for sure. Funny, his film reminded me a little of Jason Peters, think he can develop into one of those monster space eating LT’s, funny that Philly trades up for a more finesse LT in Dillard, but that’s just me.
Well I hope they get Isabella or Sanders. I like what I saw from both of them.

Lucky would you go Little in second to push Davenport and safety net Howard? I can see Little on right side soon unless Henderson is real deal.

What happened to Gaine saying they were looking to draft 4 starters? A developmental prospect with your 1st pick????? :toropalm:

Tytus Howard assured #Texans coaches they did not make a mistake.

Tytus Howard on being a former quarterback: 'I know how being sacked feels. I try not to let anybody hit the quarterback.'

Tytus Howard said the #Texans feel he can play right tackle, left tackle or guard. He’s practiced at guard before.

Don’t sleep on Tytus Howard, man. He was definitely an undervalued prospect and he has Duane Brown potential. Let’s just give him a chance. pic.twitter.com/lIyOly107i

Why does BOB always have to be the smartest guy in the room? You've got two Olineman clearly more ready, and from major programs. Instead, you go small school guy with high upside...but lower floor.

I can see passing on Taylor if there are medical red flags. But Ford? I don't get passing on Ford for Howard. Howard is the better athlete, granted, but Ford is just nasty and is a day one starter at either RG or RT. Give me the big school nasty guy over the "athlete". Wrong way to go Gaine. Wrong way to go.

We'll see, but BOB and our vaunted oline coach that can't seem to coach up anyone better have this guy ready to go early in the season to start - legitimately start not because he's the only option.

Damn you Philly!
