It will be interesting to see how Clark's own injury history fares in his future with the Chiefs in the next few years. Clark suffered an elbow hyperextension per Pete Carroll...............of both elbows............one during the 3rd preseason game of last season, the 2nd near the end of the season (Dec 14). Clark admitted that in each injury, he suffered a partial tear of his ulnar collateral ligament. In order for these tears to have occurred, he had to experience more than just a hyperextension of his elbow..........he would have had to sustain a subluxation (partial dislocation) or a complete dislocation. Although his numbers didn't really show it, Clark has stated that he played last year at 60%. Going back to his Michigan State days, I discovered, he was using a left elbow brace back then. Significance of all this is that recurrent partial tears may eventually lead to surgery, possibly Tommy John surgery. Furthermore, last preseason, he also revealed he played all of 2017 with a broken bone in each wrist. Each required surgery during the 2018 offseason and he was able to be used very limitedly in that subsequent TC. So far, he is performing commendably, but you have to ask yourself how long until these upper limb injuries catch up with him.........and also begs the question why has he suffered significant injuries to both of his wrists and both of his elbows in such a short period of time.............inherent joint problems or his techniques routinely over-stressing his joints. I'll be interested to follow his career.
