Watch the words, doesn't make the pick a bust. No GM can be responsible for injuries with no history.
Wel according to this MB the former GM was not responsible for much of anything to do with the current Texans plight.

You pick a skinny 6'1 190 lb CB and he stays injured all of the time? What are the odds of that happening?

Why, that's exactly what happened. In all my years of watching sports, that has to be the weirdest damn concussion I have ever seen.

That one play was a microcosm of his entire Texans career here.. Gets beat deep, left reaching attempting to make a play, then BAM!..concussion/injured, out for the season.
well the illegal hit by Cordarelle Patterson is the one that put him on IR actually, but I agree with your point.

Sucks he was a talented guy, but he needs to worry about the rest of his life outside of football and not just holding on to an all but over career

He was already showing signs of brain damage, so hopefully he hangs it up while he’s still young and pretty well off from those big checks he cashed in these past 4 years. Best of luck to him!

FWIW...

Kevin Johnson's highest PFF score was his 2nd season, where he got an 81.2.

For comparison, Marcus Peters highest PFF score in his career was 81.3. Byron Jones never broke 80. In Jonathan Joseph's long career, he only beat that score once.

To me, KJo was heading towards a very bright career. Injuries/concussions then really affected his confidence, and I don't think he'll ever be the player he could have been.

I agree injuries derailed his career, but he did only play in 6 games in his 2nd season. To small of a sample size to compare PFF grades to guys who have never played fewer than 12 games in a season.

Yup. Fair argument. Simply stating some interesting data points that shows he had potential. Not at all trying to say he was just as good, or even better, than those other guys.

I wouldn't care how good his physicals turn out................I'd only care about his injury HISTORY............and his poor performance/production since his rookie year. I'm not sure that he will end up on a final 53, even if he is signed by someone.
This is what I was thinking, KJo was most likely a bust before injury. I was never really impressed with him. I thought he was a league avg CB at best in his best yr and I know the numbers nerds will show up proving me wrong.

I remember when he was drafted - nice family and seemed very close to them, parents and sisters as I recall.
I wonder what advice his family gave him out continuing his career in football ? My guess would be he didn't take it.
Hey Feido, hope you are doing OK guy ?

Glad he's still getting to play and make money, even more glad he's not playing here or making money off of us. :)
I hope he falls flat on his face.

Not really he probably would get another concussion and that means more lawsuits which means ruining the game.
