Texans random thought of the day

Well he only wasn't cleared to fly for 1 of our road games, they already said barring any setbacks he will fly with the team to Denver

Only 1 game? LOL the point is this rarely happens and even if he's able tp fly it doesn't mean those ribs/lung will be fully healed. In fact they most likely wont be fully healed which will hinder Watson's performance.

They dont know if he will be able to fly or not, it's just a guess at this point. Punctured lungs are hard to predict.
Hmmm, PLUS the altitude of Denver? This might be a tough game for ol #4.

Dr. Chao seems pretty confident Watson will be fine to fly for Denver, and sooner actually

Ratings might be up because they also stopped televising the National Anthem?

The anthem thing affected ratings a lot less than people want to admit. All major TV networks reported a greater loss in ratings for their prime time TV shows than the NFL experienced, no Anthem to protest in those. NASCAR, NHL, MLB all experienced greater rating drops than the NFL, and those leagues have not had any anthem protests. Ratings dropping had a lot more to do with people streaming content online and there being no good way to account for it before. I'm sure the protest affected it somewhat, but not nearly to the degree that some politicians would want you to believe.

Kelly took 1 more snap this season than Hogan...........as a kneel down. An option that is not an option is Lynch. But he was so bad in preseason, the team had labelled his progressive regression as hopeless. Obviously, he's been out there ever since........and at least 7 teams that have worked him out............with not even a nibble. The Broncos are going to probably ride with Hogan as at least a serviceable backup.

Texans are by far a perfect team. But then again, there's no such thing as a perfect team. Every team in the NFL lacks talent at some position.

I disagree with the lack of talent in the DB group btw.

Old man Joseph and KJax are still good players but could certainly be upgrade. In fact KJax is really a S playing CB. There's little to no depth at the CB position. A trade needs to made.

At first I had hesitation of going after Peterson whom I really liked coming out of college but if before season I was asked if I would trade our first for a 28 YOA 6'1 200 ish 4.35 forty with first seven season pro bowl invites. 2018 projection for season based on seven games would be (or better) 80 tackles, 2 sacks, 8 passes defended with 4 INTs. Oh and BTW he can return punts. Our pick would be higher than PATs. His contract is amazing reasonable for his stats/skill set and bringing him on would impress Badger to remain and could be advantageous with Clowney if We decide to offer him an extension.

Chad Kelly, backup QB, got released by the Broncos. Broncos are going to trash the rest of their season. It's over for them. Von is going to be taking his foot off the gas pedal. He has nothing to prove and won't risk injury. My thought.

I remember a play off game where he drew blanks across the board against Derek Newton in a non-contract year.

Remember TE Khari Lee who was traded to the Bears for a 6th rounder Sept 2017 (it disappointed some Texans fans) ?.............well, he was worked out today by the Texans.

At the time, I thought, I would decline this penalty. It really doesn’t make sense why you’d accept that penalty!? Little room for improvement, not to mention an outside chance of returning one for 6.

Didn't make any sense at all. At best you hope to use that extra 5 yards to have your kicker float it inside the 5 and get a good tackle. But not taken into consideration is, you've moved the kicker. He is now trying to float it from a different location, and as we saw is likely (and more safely) to kick it into the endzone.

Drunk edit: This would be akin to Tiger Woods practicing variations of the same tee shot 500 times, then asking him to sky it from the women's tee. He can of course, but there's a larger margin of error because that's not what he's been doing the past 500 swings - which lends to 'better safe than sorry'. Bunker at -3yds or water at +10yds to continue the analogy.

I hope the Texans realize they need MAJOR help at WR. Even before Fuller got hurt they should have known Fuller is what Fuller is. Can't depend on him for full season.
Also with injury to Coutee (hamstring) in preseason they can't depend on him for the rest of the season. They should have taken action and bulked up at WR but they didn't. I can see them saying we have Dhop what more do we need. I guess in reality this is what they have done. I am not sure what can be done at this time but we won the battle last night but lost the war. I hated the Fuller pick because of hands and durability. I was wrong in that when Fuller is on the field he is a big plus, but you will never be able to depend on him to be in the game. Need to just look at him as a gift if he is able to play but plan that he won't be available.

I'm reaching the point that a call to Dez Bryant wouldn't be the worst decision....at least to finish the season since WFV appears to be out for the season. A seasoned playoff receiver wouldn't hurt my feelings, plus the Texans don't have to give up a dang thing to sign him.

I don't want that guy anywhere near our young QB

With Watson and Hopkins......Bryant could be kept in check. The guy wants to win as bad as the next guy in line. Like I stated, I'd like him for the remainder of the season and the fact it wouldn't cost the team picks, personnel or any serious money.....it would make the tire kicking worthwhile. The team could always dump his arse if he attempts to become a distraction and with no repercussions....I like that part as well.

Well to me I don't think he has anything left in the tank anymore. After his lower limb injuries he lost his speed which was the only way he got separation before, for a 30 year old receiver he has never really developed as a route runner. So I honestly don't think he adds much if any to this team. Then just considering how he has been conducting himself while still looking for employment, not to mention how he has acted his entire career I do not see him being a model citizen here. Just my opinion though

I have to see this offense against a better defense before I can believe it’s turned a corner. I think everything clicked, but it was against one of the weaker teams in the NFL and we should look that good.

With Fuller going down that takes away a dimension that’s going to make defenses have an easier time with us.

(Update: After Peterson met with Cardinals present Michael Bidwell on Tuesday, a trade appears to be unlikely.)

Just found this for what it is worth.

Only 9 notifications, let's find out how much stupid I posted last night and this morning lol.
The only one I care about is post you said you were making me your heir.

Back on topic: how do we see season? If you see how 5-3 and remaining schedule can get into play offs then you have to consider prime players at prime positions with years under Texans control as more important than draft. Short term guys (due to skills or health) should be considered but are very risky.

Watson is 3-1 in his four primetime games so far. Thrown 11 TD's, rushed for 1, and only thrown 1 INT. Maybe the Texans' primetime woes are a thing of the past.
Watson is less healthy last two games and Miller doing nothing different in last two games so IMO the difference is offensive line being better then each of the other two make it all better. Another positive is the line still has higher ceiling than RB or QB.

You mean like the Jags?

rewatched the game today....
did anyone else notice how much Hopkins was working the refs during replays and timeouts?

oh and I agree that somebody owes the man an apology.

Last year, he was under utilized by the Cowboy and threatened not to return unless he was a starter. Preseason with the Cardinals, he suffered a foot injury. Then, after being re-signed by the Cowboys mid Sept, early Oct, he suffered a groin injury. He essentially didn't get to play weeks 3 through 7 (he was a FA weeks 1 and 2), although week 7 he finally came off of the Injury Report and was a healthy scratch. He was cut thereafter.

He didn't work them good enough because they called that BS push off on him. Robbed him of one of the greatest catches in NFL history. Lol

That team isn’t the same from last year.
They are still, a top ranked defense.

In regards to points per game, Cowboys are #2 and Titans #3 (Jags #8). In regard to yards/game, Jags #2, Cowboys #3, Bills #4.

May not be as dominant as last season, but still relatively a good defense. In fact, we have faced other good defenses besides the Jags.

Our offense didn’t look that good that game against the Jags. Our defense dominate.

Cowboys with better defense showed us our offensive problems. We got lucky they are a worse coached team than us.

We had problems against Tennessee and Buffalo.

Do you want to know the secret to beating the Jags? Rush the ball 30 times. Every time a team does that this year they have won. Their rush defense sucks, but the pass defense makes them look all that better.

The point stands and you have helped make it - our offense hasn’t looked as good until Miami. Let’s see what they look like against Philadelphia and Washington.
