NFL Random Thought of the Day

The only problem, and it's a big one, that I see with this is that it makes WAY too much sense.

Having New Orleans, Dallas and Houston in the same division would be wonderful. I think it would have been better with Kansas City instead of Tennessee, but Tennessee had to go somewhere and I was doing this by geography not by potential rivalries. Kansas City and Tennessee are out in the middle of nowhere as far as NFL geography is concerned.

The NFL would never go for messing up the rivalries the Cowboys have with the Giants, 'Skins and Eagles, even though they'd be making new ones with Pats/Giants, Jets/Giants, Ravens/'Skins, Cowboys/Saints, Cowboys/Texans, Saints/Texans, (if the Texans ever become relevant) LA/LA, while still keeping most others like GB/Min, Was/Phi, NE/NYJ, Chi/GB, KC, Den and Raiders, etc.

Still a great realignment though.

Thorn's re-alignment would create new rivalries that in short order would far exceed the established rivalries.

Which team would re-locate to San Antonio? The best would've been the Raiders.

Agreed. Loved the idea of the Raiders to San Antonio. The Texas coast has the pirate history to support the name/logo.

The Jaguars also work. There are recently jaguars back in Texas.

Bortles bortling vs KC today, 2 INT's, one returned for a TD. 20-0 KC approaching halftime
Titans losing to the Bills at HT 7-6

If these hold, a chance for the Texans to be within a game of the lead in the division.

Hunt acting like an idiot...........after last week's helmet fine, he comes back after a play is over and lays a helmet on the Jags DB............15 yds..........and wouldn't be surprised if not another fine.

How good would the Cleveland Browns be if they had a good kicker? My goodness gracious they had a chance to win in regulation. Or if not for a missed extra point earlier in the game. The Browns played a gutsy game, yet again, and should have won but instead they're going to their third overtime this season.

6 seconds left in overtime.

Browns kicker, Greg Joseph, barely makes a 37-yard field goal. Haha. Otherwise they would have tied...

Browns beat the Ravens 12-9 in overtime!!!!

The ball Joseph kicked barely went over the crossbar.
I didn't think it had enough height at first.
Almost looked like it was blocked but it wasn't

Just a knuckle ball and weird kick that barely made it.

Browns nearly tied a second time in 5 games.
They should have won in regulation if Joseph didn't choke.
He missed a FG and extra point. Came through in OT though.

The Browns are entertaining to watch. I don't know why.
They're funny to watch but they play hard. I admire their effort.

Call me crazy, but I think Mcadoo and Jerry Reese made the right call last year in benching Eli. I know it got met with also sorts of public backlash because it was ending his start streak, but there season was already lost they needed to see what they had for next season. Unfortunately they turned it over to Geno Smith who is what he is, then their owner caved to outside pressure claiming he didn't know they were going to bench Eli the whole time. But in hindsight looking at this season they absolutely made the right move, Eli is done, they should have replaced him instead of trying to retool around him. But looks like they are on their way to another top 5 pick in the draft so I guess they will have another shot at it.

heJacksonville Jaguars, plagued by injuries at running back, have signed free agentJamaal Charlesto a one-year deal, the team announced Tuesday.

The move comes after No. 3 running backCorey Grantwas placed on injured reserve with a Lisfranc injury in his left foot. Grant had been pressed into playing time with regular starterLeonard Fournetteout indefinitely because of a right hamstring injury and No. 2 backT.J. Yeldonplaying with a nagging ankle injury.

So this is another reason it's foolish to sink a really high pick in a running pack.

I wouldn't be half surprised if the Giants stay ultra competitive in the process of keeping their eye on the prize.....remaining in the running for a top 5 pick to replace Manning.

Redskins Peterson.....separated shoulder.
You'll still see him out there with a harness as long as he can take the pain. That was not a shoulder separation, it was a shoulder dislocation......and, especially since it occurred twice, I'm sure that it resulted in a labrum tear which will require surgery...........when he decides to have it performed will be up to him. I am also sure that he will do everything he can to put it off until after the end of the season.

hmmm this isn't really regarding a football player, but since we are on the subject. My shoulders will dislocate sometimes when I'm stretching, more so if something puts pressure on my arm/hand area with my arm outstretched over head or out to the side. Doesn't happen all the time, but often enough where I've gotten pretty good at popping it back in place myself, would that indicate a labrum tear? I should probably get an MRI done, but I honestly don't care to get it fixed seeing as my sports playing days are over.

With what you are describing, I would suspect that you are experiencing recurrent anterior dislocations. I'd be very surprised if there isn't significant labral damage. Left alone, you worry about damage to the rotator cuff or even blood supply compromise to the shoulder. And lastly, but probably most importantly to you in life after sports........the appearance of degenerative arthritis. My guess is at this point, proper intensive rehab can help, but with the ligaments significantly stretched/torn and with the probable presence of labrum damage, it will have limited results. I would strongly urge you to obtain a good orthopedic exam with MRI in order to gain a solid understanding of what your particular situation entails. Remaining "ignorant" does not serve you well no matter what. Allowing damage to continue only places you in a position to look forward to major shoulder athroplasty or replacement procedures as arthritic degeneration progresses.

I wish you good luck no matter how you choose to proceed. :tiphat:

Yea I'm just being young and dumb not wanting to take care of it. Partly because my dad told me shoulder surgery was the most painful of his 15ish? surgeries(well I guess until he got his lower vertebrae fused together a couple years ago) and also I have mild panic attacks in hospitals. I really do need to get it taken care of now that I'm at a desk job with decent health insurance

Aaron Rodgers as I feared, re-injured his MCL stepping down to a light brace. Re-injury signifies further ligament damage with abnormal joint movement which could not have helped his bone bruise either. He is admitting to a "setback."

So much going on here

Lol, tells me Terrell Owens is flat broke.

I guess he can't feed his kids anymore.....after all. Hey TO, you're a football player and should've been planning for your future versus spending money like you had invented something that would give you an unbelievable residual income for life.

MICHAEL BENNETT (STUD)
Bennett has been a force for the Eagles over the last three weeks, finding his way in an Eagles uniform. Bennett had a strip-sack on Eli manning and had his way with Nate Soldier quite a few times in the game (including two quarterback hits).

Good thing the Giants got stuck with the 62 million-dollar-man and not us. I watched some of last nights game and Soldier did get his azz handed to him.
I'll take Davenport and keep the 62 mill. Yikes - Giants got stiffed !

Thoughts from last night. Holy **** I love to watch Saquon Barkley with the ball in his hands, he is explosive, elusive, fast, powerful, and has crazy balance. Unfortunately the rest of the giants team is just so unwatchable other than their weekly receiver sideline meltdown, most likely due to Eli sailing the ball 5 ft over his check downs head instead of throwing to the wide open guy 15 yards down the field. That whole team has quit, outside of Barkley so I will have to settle for just watching Barkley's post game high lights

I dunno are we watching the next great RB in the NFL ala Sanders, Simpson, Peterson ?
I still would have taken one of those QBs on the Giants' Board after witnessing an over-the-hill Eli Manning last night.
But on the other hand the Giants might have realized they were headed for another top 5 pick in the 2019 Draft ?

I agree I thought they should have taken a QB, Eli has looked done for a couple years now. Bright side for Giants fans, their rookie RB is looking great, and they are well on their way to having a top 5(if not #1 overall) pick to get their future QB. Barkley should help the rookie out with any growing pains

Caught a snippet of the Adam Gase interview post game, he was asked why Tannehil was out. He seemed to go on a little tirade over it saying something a long the lines of "Idk why don't you go ask him. I'm tired of answering questions over this guy." Is Gase finally fed up with Tannehill?

Breeland Speaks: NFL rules were on my mind when I let Tom Brady go
Posted by Michael David Smith on October 15, 2018, 5:47 AM EDT

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady ran for a fourth-quarter touchdown on Sunday night after Chiefs linebacker Breeland Speaks wrapped him up but then let him go. Speaks said the league’s increased emphasis on roughing the passer led to his mistake.

Speaks said he thought Brady had thrown the ball and was worried about a roughing the passer penalty if he took Brady down. So Speaks let Brady go, and Brady ran the ball into the end zone for a touchdown.

“It was definitely on my mind. It sucks,” Speaks said, via Michael Giardi of NFL Network.

Speaks said he’ll “finish the play next time” and take the opposing quarterback down when he has the chance. He’ll risk a penalty flag, but that’s better than a touchdown.

They used to call "In the Grasp" on plays where the QB was wrapped up;

what happened to those calls?
