Took less money than what from whom? The Jets yanked their offer.
Suh didn’t take the Jets offer which was reported to be the highest.

Suh had an option. He just didn't accept their offer in what the Jets considered a timely fashion.Suh didn't have an option. The Jets yanked the offer.

I guess we are done with Free Agency. On to the draft then.
Fair enough, I shouldn't have interjected politics into this thread over here. My apologies. Why can't you people ever keep your F@$#ing Politics OUT of sports!?!?! They ALL suck and don't give a **** about any of you morons pandering to either side...
I would love to see the Texans get a bad ass safety. That is one position this team has never really had a kick-ass badass player at. Sorry if I offended all of the Von Hutchins and Matt Stephens fans.![]()
I know it's not the only position, but it's the one that sticks out the most in my opinion.I do not count Ed Reed. Marcus Coleman, Glover Quin, and Quintin Demps are the best safeties they have had. Hell, they only had Demps for the two seasons so that doesn't really qualify I guess. Then, Glover Quin, didn't spend the majority of his career here. Bernard Pollard could dance, but could not cover George H.W. Bush in flag football if it depended on his life. Too bad Steve Atwater, Ronnie Lott, Jack Tatum, or heck even Willie Wood had any phenoms in their bloodline coming anytime soon.
Wow! I just remembered making this post today. Maybe I need to start wishing for more things...![]()
Ndamukong Suh has signed with Rams for 1 year.
I've been on board with rolling with Davenport honestly.John McClain

O'Brien "We could have 4 new starters in the offensive line. We're going to give Julien Davenport a chance at left tackle. When he played, he held his own. None of these positions are nailed down. We want guys that are versatile."

Gabbert to the Titans
I never heard anything other than there was an offer on the table and that the Jets had rescinded said offer. I never heard a reason why. When he took the Rams deal he had no option. The Jets deal was off the table before the Rams made an offer.
As to the Jets, yes Suh got an offer but story I read said the CEO & GM sat down, reconsidered whether they wanted him, decided they did not and withdrew the offer.
But whatever.

Kind of have to unless there is a surprising cut or someone unexpected drops in the draft. Need to scheme to give him help rather than sink or swim though...
O'Brien: " when he (Davenport) played he held his own"
Coachspeak for "that's all we got" because no Bill he didn't ''hold his own" he actually graded out at poor. I hate when people try to tell me a **** sandwich will taste good.

At this juncture, Davenport is just another Newton but on the left side. Not saying he coldn't finish his development but it sure would've been nice to get a LT in FA. If the team is looking in close-out aisle for a LT, go ahead and sign Greg Robinson on the cheap. Maybe the Texans get lucky with this signing....if they don't, cut him since the price will be in the Texans favor. Nothing ventured, maybe a little, nothing lost.

..
LT and backup QB are needs 1A and 1B, with TE not far behind imo.
And QB is the one that we really need a vet at for sure. There are a couple of journeyman vets out there with considerable playing experience including one with experience in this system.
I'm a bit perplexed as to why we haven't signed Matt Moore or Weeden. We could then draft a guy late to groom as a future number 2.

Top 5 Grades:
T Julien Davenport, 81.9 overall grade
LB Benardrick McKinney, 79.3 overall grade
LB Dylan Cole, 79.1 overall grade
WR Chris Thompson, 78.6 overall grade
CB Kareem Jackson, 77.4 overall grade
How is Davenport anything like Newton?
Finish his development? He just started.
I'm saying that Davenport has potential at LT. He needs work, but there is observable talent.Lol so you're telling me Davenport is a better player than the rest on that list?
Edit: one game. One measley game!! And against the Colts? Man I need a drink now.

I think at some point last year I stated that Davenport could use a season or two of development time and you jumped in and said a second season was crazy. Seems like you've changed your tune.
Because high picks (#2 overall) always get the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th chances. My question is, why not try the guy at another o-line position other than the one he has shown to be a complete failure? Robinson's inability to get out to the edge would be mitigated with a move to OG. WTH?Idk why you have this infatuation with Greg Robinson but the dude sucks.
I would've preferred Solder, at a more team friendly rate than NYG paid, but that's not possible anymore. I'll take Davenport and give him the reps he needs and try to find the best possible competition available to try and take his spot. TT will explode regardless of injury, record or blame. It's what we do.I get the developmental argument for Davenport .. my concern lies with the level of competition in college and also the 2 games where he performed well.
Do we really want a guy protecting the franchise QB figuring it out on the job? TT server would blow up if Watson gets hurt because of a blown assignment by Davenport. Von Miller. Calais Campbell. Myles Garrett. DeMarcus Lawrence. The entire defensive front for Philly.
Sorry if I'm not as enthused.
Nope. What I said was I am against arbitrarily sitting people. You play the best player possible on the roster.
I probably also said something along the lines of it's ridiculous to determine, mid-rookie season, the fate of a player in their 2nd season as there is typically a large jump after the 1st full time NFL off-season between years 1 and 2.
And you didn't answer how Davenport and Newton are similar.
Davenport's gone against Clowney for a year in practice, right. I don't know if he's ever stopped him, but he's at least competed against one of the best.Just am observation and the fact that he hasn't really had to stop any of the top DE's at this point in his career.
Idk why you have this infatuation with Greg Robinson but the dude sucks. Robinson is going into his 4th season and still hasn't figured it out. Much rather see what Davenport has to offer.
PFF graded Robinson 36.6, #78 Tackle. Davenport 47.6. Basically someone from the stands has just as good of a chance as Robinson.
Outside of Davenport, the rest of the teams potential LT are OG's by trade who might've dabbled at LT for a few games here and there.
Seantrel Henderson is an OT and started his last 2 years in college at LT.

I believe we will have a much better offensive line this season.
No where to go but up
I wanted to like your post but realized...
David Carr wouldn't.
Ryan CladyIsn't there a 33-35 year old LT we could sign out of retirement? (This would be an after the draft scenario if we don't get someone or if the team isn't convinced that Davenport is ready)
