Which off-season moves would you like the Texans to make? (Roster/FA)

Lol @ Eric Reid .. he's a BIG protester, bigger than the hated Duane Brown .. McNair isn't having it .. try again.

“Hated” Duane Brown....my god you guys are getting up there with Trump with your hyperbole and unsubstantiated statements

Lmao .. dude thumb through the Duane Brown thread for your ''evidence' and I agree that this place resembles alot of the BS that accompanies The *president and his worshippers.

Well What the hell was he supposed to say?

So OBrien is the guy who is responsible then. Got it. I mean realistically Gaines and OBrien are one in the same. Doesn't take a job with the team to see 70Ms and then whiff at every top tier player available because they want to save the money for ... Depth. Sigh.

No doubt there are fans on the messageboard that expressed their dislike for brown protesting....but Your statement intimates that McNair hated Brown for protesting.

You act like it’s as easy as going to Walmart and picking who u want...

C'mon man don't be naive.

Then don’t be cynical. The reality is what you’re asserting is baseless and DB was on the roster for damn near a whole year after he protested and spoke out before he was actually moved.

If McNair hated the dude as you say he’d have been moved long before wk. 9 of 2017.

Guys, FA has just started, lets give BG some time to see where we finish. So far these 4 moves are solid. We didn't overpay and we added talent to our OL and CB positions. We're signing versatile players on OL, because I think we learned a lesson with Allen--dude was LG and we tried to make him a RG.

Bless your heart. I remember when I wasn't so jilted and pessimistic with the team.

Read that.

And no I said before signing free agents isn't a pick whoever you want situation .. they actually have to WANT to play here and thus far only marginal players are taking the money. Why is that? I think it's the toxic ownership.

The 3 most coveted guys we went after were tremendously overpaid by other teams. For all you know it could’ve been as simple as that and may have nothing to do with whatever the hell youre asserting.

I don’t need to read what DB laid out already in the Arian Foster podcast. Furthermore, he’s just 1 guy. Highly likely that Brown is still here if he gets his new contract....but don’t let that ruin your narrative though.

I believe they went after those top tier players Rico. Unfortunately they couldn't stole up a deal so we went with plans B, C and D. They did acquire some quality players.

We'll never know. Thing is as fans we say 'no way that guy isn't worth the money' yet another franchise steps up and pays. Everyone wanted Solder (not me) then they see the money and then they don't want him anymore? Lol c'mon man. It costs to be the boss and this team is mired in self inflicted mediocrity and fans should be pissed not continually making excuses for their ineptitude and allowing non football beliefs to affect the product that the FANS pay for. We deserve better after 15 years of unwavering support.

Another finance expert saying who is worth what. So Solder is only worth what 7-8 Ms because it's convenient? Is this team going to sign Matthieu for less than 15Ms? I wish Brown was still here because he's better than Solder and would have been cheaper if this team doesn't shoot itself on the foot. Hindsight though right?

well if I’m the finance expert, then you must be the talent scout since you’re asserting DB is better than Solder right?

You don’t have to be a capologist to know Solder wasn’t worth the money he got to that made him the highest paid linemen in the league and at some point, you gotta draw the line.

You guys can’t have it both ways. You either want the FO to be diligent and remain cap flexible enough to be able to resign home grown talent when it’s time to re up (Glover Quinn, Bouye) or Dan Snyder reckless and overpay for every big name that hits FA.

We broke the bank on a bum at qb in 2016 b/c fans wanted that splash signing. To date, we’re still paying for that mistake.

So you don't believe in any of what you say either. I give you a chance to back up your words and you scurry away like someone turned on the light.

i'm not betting against the team I watch every Sunday.

Carry On

That's the biggest problem of them all, we the fans know to much about their financial institutes. I really wish they didn't disclose what these players are being paid. If we didn't know all of that, we might not get all worked up about over payments and under payments or if they offered X amount to who we doom the best player out there for that certain position. But from doing a little research, I believe we acquired some pretty good players. To top it off we still have a lot of money to work with.

You're right, the problem is they don't really seem to have a plan to balance those things

They go year-to-year desperately plugging holes while creating new ones

if they get luck and make no doubt it will be luck, they find their LT of the future then things will look much better on Kirby. I personally want Crosby/Harrison, although there's a case to be made for picking Brown if he's there in the 3rd.

"We have until then (a few weeks before training camp) to snag the guys the coaches want". - Obsiwan

Now the rub is, I don't think Obsiwan, along with many others on this board trust the coaches, especially O'Brien when it comes to most personnel decisions. I haven't agreed with Obsiwan much lately but IF this offseason does turn out to be a "turd" (again), I will start to point to the coaching staff specifically OB.

We'll see. If we're talking about the 2019 draft by mid-season O'Brien would probably have failed in every phase including picking his own GM.

While I agree

This is totally on the McNair's. Maybe Gaine because he couldn't talk the McNair's to spend the $$$$ that it takes to build a winner. But on the bright side, atleast Gaine was able to talk McNair into letting him sign Henderson.

you can point to a key draft pick or 2 on every roster and say they got lucky. Why would the Texans be any different?

New York thought he was worth the money. I'm sure Eli Manning and Giants fan is ecstatic. When you consistently suck at drafting you can expect to pay top dollar for free agents and now these guys are stuck in 'paralysis by analysis' over past mistakes in free agency? It's like a clown fest.

The Texans just overhauled 60% of their worst-in-league offensive line and possibly 50% of their secondary before re-signing Clowney. That doesn't sound like a disappointing FA to me.

I'm thinking there's too much reliance on ESPN for a player's value rather than team scouts.

Every team needs it. Why would the Texans be any different?

It does take luck . Iwill admit that, but finding a starting day 1 LT is extremely lucky. It can be done though Bahktiari was a day 1 starting LT and Thompson found him in the 5th rd.

You're absolutely right we acquired some depth and maybe one of these guys outperforms expectation, I would rather go with proven commodities.

It could've been better if the Texans org had made Solder an offer he couldn't refuse.

Instead as BL said, they were predictable.

That would entail having personnel guys like Ted Thompson and Ozzie Newsome .. these guys have a hard enough time hitting on 1st and 2nd rounders.

Yeah they thought a lot of guys last year were worth the money in FA too...didn’t quite translate to dubs though. We’re you singing their praises then too?

Wouldn’t everybody? That’s what Bob did when he went with fitz at qb in 2014....hoyer in 2015... when he went with lesser known commodities like Mallet, Savage and Oz...well u know what happened lol

IMHO, we were never going to get Solder. His son is doing cancer treatment in Boston, his home is there, he has lived in the North East most of his adult life. If you know anything about folks from there, it is that as far as they are concerned the world pretty much ends at the western border of Penselvainia (sp). So, the Giants throw some major money at him that the Pats can't match, but he still has an EASY commute from NY to Boston. Even if we upped it by 10 mill, I doubt he would have come. I suspect we made an offer pretty similar to NYs, might even have been a tad better since we supposedly went at him very hard. I don't have a problem with that. We can't and shouldn't sign all the big name FAs. We are doing fairly well so far and have a fair amount of FA left.

What are you talking about apart from resigning Pierre Paul (cough cough Clowney) their biggest splurge was 18Ms on a fullback last year lol. Having a psychotic head coach didn't help matters

Man, drafting Brown would be risky, but I think I like the thought of 2 mountains playing the OT positions next yr. I heard Brown's interview and he impressed me.
I would be more impressed had Brown showed up in some semblance of shape for the biggest interview of his career. Not going to be able to talk NFL edge rushers out of running around his fat arse and blindsiding Deshaun.

Depends on how u look at it really. Butler is the more proven guy, but Colvin’s younger and has higher upside and more versatility.
I hope Colvin has upside. He's yet to intercept a pass in 48 NFL games.

Brown is a good football player who didn't test well. Watch the tape. Colvin does have 1 playoff INT I believe and if it was me I'd put Colvin On the outside, he's already the best corner on this team.

Must’ve been the year prior then when they went and spent big money on Olivier Vernon and Janoris Jenkins via FA.

Yeah that’s the narrative over on the jags messageboard. I could care less if he ever gets an int..just break up the pass and I’m cool

Can we not go to the "watch the tape" stuff, assuming I've never seen OU play? Being a bigillion pounds in a quick hitting spread offense might work in college. Brown will get destroyed in the NFL if he doesn't make a commitment to his body. He totally reminds me of that great Texans steal, Louis Nix. The lack of desire to work is evident.
