Which off-season moves would you like the Texans to make? (Roster/FA)

I'm curious to know what this kid's natural position is. He played all along the interior line last year for the chiefs, but most at center last year according to the snap counts posted by realjoker. McClain claims that if he's brought here he's going to play guard, But from articles i've read, and the chiefs message board, it seems he's been best at center & couldn't beat out some other guys that were just ok at guard for them. If this is the case, i'm concerned simply b/c what it tells me is that the texans seem to be hell bent on playing him out of position......or at the very least in a position it appears he wasn't that good at instead of the position he's best at.

They wasted a year in Mancz's development at C by putting Martin at C when he can play Guard.
Hopefully Martin can stay healthy as we need all the OL help we can get.

You can't say they wasted a year of his development if he was their only option...which he was considering Martin was out for the year. Furthermore, it just added to his versatility of us going forward.

Fulton is a good player and would be an upgrade. i'm afraid what this tells us is they are worried that Martin may not be able to stay healthy and if he does then Fulton will play a slightly above avg OG. Fulton can play anywhere along the interior OL. Fulton is a very strong guy though.

I just hope this works out better than the last Chiefs OL the Texans signed in FA. I will admit I'm skeptical.

Id be happy if he worked out as well as this Chiefs Guard did for us.

You are talking Jeff Allen right StealB ? But aren't we still hopeful that Allen can still play some LG for us with Xs departure ?

I am. Allen looks much more comfortable on the left side. It's his natural position. Too many people think interior linemen are plug and play on either side.

Well anyone would be better than XSF lol.

but feel a little better as I just did a little more digging and it appears that his natural position is guard & his bad performance that i read about at that position was mostly in his rookie year. Apparently they just threw him to the wolves. But if you're correct in how strong he is, he should be a good fit at guard for us. He'll need to be strong dealing with Calais Campbell for 2 games every year.

He played RG exclusively at Tennessee but has played all over the interior for the Chiefs and has been considered their "sixth man" on the OL the last few years.

He definitely fits the O'Brien mold in that he is versatile although we have seen over the last few years that O'Brien appears to focus more on OL versatility than actual talent.

As a guard, Zach Fulton was #5 in pass protection last year according to PFF. Grading out as a 87.5.
#5 in pass-pro, awright that's what I'm talking about it ! We didn't have any OLineman in that territory last year did we ?

Is there anyone healthy enough you would sign or trade for that is a viable option?
The best overall FA C in my opinion.............no major injury issues...........but will probably cost a pretty penny:

From PFF

Ryan Jensen, C, 74.9 overall grade

The Ravens lost right guard Marshal Yanda to a season-ending injury early in 2017, and the interior offensive line would have been in even worse shape if not for the emergence of center Ryan Jensen. Posting a modest 74.9, the highest grade of his career so far, Jensen had played just 704 snaps in his career heading into the 2017 season but was on the field for 1,052 snaps in 2017. With his grade improving in each of the past three seasons (from 48.9, to 72.2, to 74.9), and his sixth-ranked pass-blocking efficiency rating (98.4), Jensen is the most important of all the Ravens impending free agents. With the added uncertainty of who will start at left guard in 2018, and if Yanda will be back to his best in time for the start of the season, bringing Jensen back would be a smart move at the right price.

Any LT options? What about secondary, who do you like there?

Another corner on the Texans' radar with a strong grade is Buffalo Bills unrestricted free agent E.J. Gaines. He should do very well in free agency after a good season with the Bills following the trade.

-Aaron Wilson

A Lisfranc fracture surgery (with a knee sprain occurring on that same play) ruined his entire 2015 season. Then hamstring issues, foot and thigh issues slowed him throughout 2016. He had a good 2017 season. But this was despite shoulder, recurrent hamstring and knee injuries.

My concern with corners is which side they can play on. CBS like OTs cannot always swap sides and me successful. Butler and EJ Gaines would be huge start.

North Jersey's Art Stapleton reports free agent OG Andrew Norwell has narrowed his three finalists to the Giants, 49ers, and Colts.

One league source told Stapleton the Giants are "all-in" on Norwell. The All-Pro guard has been linked to the Giants all offseason, but it appears the cap-flush 49ers are making one last push.

His guy should be our number one target.

Dang it Doc! You really know how to kill the party! :D

Norwell isn't coming here. Let's sign people that want to be here. I'm hoping we sign 2-3 splash players and/or guys that might not be big names, but that can make a real difference. I'm looking for a repeat of the JJo/Manning signings back in the halycon days of the RS/Kubiak era. At least one plus Olineman, preferably two is on my wish list. Beyond that, we need another 2-4 middling level players. Guys that can fill holes and contribute and we need help damn near everywhere.

I'm looking for the Texans to quite possibly have their largest (and hopefully best) FA class since they have been in existence.

Do that, and they will come into the draft in a much stronger position and won't have to reach for needs.

I don't want to burn up cap on high dollar guards in free agency like Norwell. I'll settle for average (which is a helluva lot better then we had.) Save the dollars and get that quality LT and CB.

I wouldn’t mind the big splash LT (Solder) paired with some “second tier” signings like Fulton to upgrade interior OL, CB Gaines and heck why not bring back Jo Jo and/or go get Boston at safety?! I’d be really happy with that free agent haul.

I’d love that, but I’m starting to get worried. There have been lots of moves being made around the league and still not a dang thing done by our front office. What happened to these “big moves” that we’re supposed to happen today? I remember that guy who claims to have all this inside knowledge said big things we’re going down by 4pm.

I would like to see a (decent) Vet LT come to H-Town, as well as a (decent) vet TE.
The rest can come from the draft - from which I hope they snag Martinas Rankin as their first pick.
Then a nice CB and S with their next two.
If all 5 perform adequately, this team will make the playoffs this season - as long as DW4 is healthy.
(assuming JJ is 90% of his former self).

I wouldn’t mind that, but I’d like for them to pick up a few running backs because we need a good one BAD!

Me too, but I am hoping that with better oline play, will come a better running game as well.
I think we will have quite a potent O and am looking forward to watching them.

Not sure who you are reading, but nothing is official until Wednesday 3:00 pm. Lots of position and such, but even the trades could fall through much the free agent signings.

The Texans have the firepower to get into the Norwell bidding, but apparently Gains top priorities don't include Norwell.
