Brock Gets The Start

mcnulty-kicks-desk-o.gif
This is exactly what I look like at my desk right now. Lol.

There's nothing any of our QB's could do to give me confidence going into Foxboro. They are a juggernaut and we have proven in the past with many different QB's that we are just not capable of winning those types of games.

Kinda where I'm at. I'm not sure there's anything Osweiler, Savage, or Weeden can do to give me any confidence at all.

I'd need to see Tom Brady & most of his teammates on a boat with prostitutes flown in from Atlanta & Florida... The closer to our game the better.

This is how people move on from the Texans to become Cowboys fans.

Before you go into being a real fan and getting out your measuring stick, remember some people can only handle so much pain and disappointment and this team fills it fans up to the max.

That division banner only does so much.

Hopefully those fair weather fans that jump the boat will send McNair a message when his stadium is half full and merchandise sales go down.

Cant you just feel the excitement in the air knowing Os is about to start a playoff game. This is sorta like a trip to the dentist.

I remember a time when Earl/Luv Ya Blue that there wasn't a city in this nation as fired up for playoff football as the city of Houston.

The McNair's have stolen all of that.

My tin foil hat is on.
Looks like the Texans marketing corporation did an analysis on their football division and scruntched the numbers. Guess they came to a conclusion that if they loss with brock instead of savage. Their would be 42% less questions about why they paid brock so much if they wouldn't play him in the "money time " of the season. Now, i do think that the Texans will win this game given the raiders QB issues ..however the marketing corp felt that if the football division gets beat this weekend. Reporters will stick to more about the game than whats going on behind the scenes on Kirby drive.

Ok :tinhat: off

What are the odds that Connor Cook outplays Brock Osweiler?

That just might be more interesting than the outcome of the game. If Connor Cook looks better, more accurate, better ball placement, no ints, etc. I bet fans' heads will explode.

fans heads are gonna explode just b/c that's what Texans fans heads do every time a decision is made down on Kirby that they don't like. I notice that it's more often than not the trolls and draft guys (Texian, Steelb, 76) that ***** the loudest.

If Savage is cleared to play, then he should be in there to start.

OB made this mistake last year by playing Hoyer when he had played like trash all season. Now he is doing it with Oz again. God Dammit!

We can maybe still beat Oakland, but I'd like to see as much as we can from Savage as I don't think he is anywhere near being good enough to be the future, but I'd at least like to see him get more game time to prove that wrong or to prove it right.

I agree with the call to start Osweiler. He gives us the best chance to win wheather Obrien agrees or not, I don't care. I've had enough of the Obrien show. Savage I like but he has had his opportunities, been hurt most of the time here, hurt again and didn't light it up when he was in there, no touchdown passes, all fieldgoals.??? Time to bring in a new fresh quarterback draft prospect for Savage. We can only carry so many quarterbacks on the roster and I would rather move on from him. So that's it, I've made the decision. Good luck to you Tom but really it's time for you to move on to another profession. Enjoy this one.

You didn't see Brock play inthe New England or Denver game did you?

Savage got all of 1 full game start. Cleaned up Brock's mess in Jacksonville, and went down early in his second start. That's a large sample size.

This game will come down to one simple equation: can the Texans defense do enough to overcome Brock's averaged two interceptions and O'Brien's dumbass playcalling to secure a win?

We should've beat the Raiders with Brock and a healthy Carr at a neutral site. If the decision really is to start Brock, which it sounds like it is the final decision, there isn't a better scenario (at home, no Carr) for him to gain some confidence back and build on a decent performance vs the Titans when his number was called. Beyond that, there is little hope to beat NE. It's hard enough to pull any optimism out of our current situation.

I have a feeling we will NOT beat the Raiders. Carr is not the only part of this team and we're lining up in front of Brock Ozwiper. Call it 27-16 Raiders.

Or hell, maybe Brock lights it up, suddenly becoming the guy at least somebody thought he was, once.

lol...this is disheartening...Savage just can't get his **** together

Not really, it's OB dumb ass 4th and 1 play call that screwed Savage over. Even more so is the fact he was cleared to play and then uncleared. Kinda fishy IMO.

That would be horrible to me.

So basically, if Oz plays halfway decent we're potentially at the risk of Mcnair/Smith deciding that Oz needs one more year here or at least a chance to compete with some other bad prospect if he plays just well enough to win one playoff game?

It isn't OB's fault that Savage has had injuries year after year.

True but this one instance is on OB, and I don't believe he ever had a concussion.

OB didn't cause him to have a concussion. Savage plays a contact sport. If you want to blame OB so bad, then blame him for playing Savage period. That would be more logical to complain about. Savage needed reps though, and playing him was a risk. It was a risk that no one had a problem with, but that risk still existed and the danger of that risk took place and happened. Savage got hurt. AGAIN. It isn't like OB was playing Savage with a 42-7 lead in the 4th quarter or something.

Honesty, if Savage can't handle a sneak without getting injured once again, he's not starter material. I'm still not sure he's injured though. Maybe it's the run of poor play, and the information I gathered about the Watt injury (no reinjury), but I'm in full on skeptic mode with every decision made by this FO.

Not buying it, how is he cleared and then uncleared ?

How the hell would I know?

Who cares what you or anyone else is buying though. It doesn't matter. Do you think that concussions are some easy thing to evaluate just like that? The NFL and teams all over the NFL have done a terrible job at evaluating them in the past, and have been heavily criticized for it. It isn't some easy thing to figure out in the moment like that. Are you guys actually trying to suggest that OB calculated this so he wouldn't have to play Savage? Really? OB is the guy that wanted Savage to play, and if he wanted that so badly he would have just started Oz from the jump and held out Savage. Hell, he had all the excuses to do it if he wanted to. It is becoming more and more evident that Mcnair and Smith were the guys that were in love with Oz, not OB. It seems now that OB got stuck with Oz, and if that is the case Houston fans should be at Rick Smith's house demanding he resigns like they did with Matt Schaub.

If you want to create conspiracies for something so insignificant as some concussion protocol, then maybe it was Smith and Mcnair who demanded that Oz got to play. I don't know, hell who cares. You likely will never find out since this organization keeps this tuff under wraps really well.

I think the majority of the people who are smelling BS in this situation believe that it's not OB, but the FO.

For the record, my head has never exploded.

Also for the record, the Texans org has been good for a lot of laughs since 2010.

This is the point a bunch of people seem to be missing. Can you imagine any situation where Brock wins this game and the Texans still draft a QB in this draft within the first 3 rounds? I can't, and that seriously has me questioning how long I can continue even watching football. I'm a one team guy and if that one team can't make me happy, then I think I'd rather live without them.

Agreed

Except it will eventually come out.

It always does.

Kind like the Jimmy G/BOB Rick McNair thingy.

If that is the case they should let Weeden be the number 2 this weekend and keep Savage inactive.

Weeden should at least be suited up for the game. He surely has the arm strength to throw a longer Hail Mary pass than Osweiler if needed.

Here is Weeden throwing an 81-yard TD pass to Blackmon:

That was what 40 yds in the air? And not a hail mary at all... and all players have a high light clip or two

If Weeden is so great why isn't he leading Cleveland or why did he get benched for a desperate Dallas team?

As Oz is starting, I have no desire to watch the game. Think it will be DVR. If they win, I may just watch. If not, I can just delete it and have the memory of Oz screwing up again.

Weeden had the misfortune of landing in Cleveland on the shores of Lake Erie with the worst 1st round running back pick (Trent Richardson) & some of the worst wide receivers (Greg Little consistently led the league in drops) in NFL history, let alone a horrible defense.

As for Dallas, if you look at the stats, Weeden had the highest QB rating on the Cowboys last season, Tony Romo included; he had only one bad game against New England. And Weeden had no Dez Bryant (injured) and no running game whatsoever to work with last season with Dallas. Had Weeden had this season's Dallas OL line AND Zeke Elliot AND Dez Bryant... OMG! The Texans made the right move in picking up Weeden after Jerry Jones cut him.

This game is going to be painful to watch. Unless the ghost of Joe Montana inhabits Brock's body on Saturday, I see a 13/29 for 135. It looks like it's gonna be one of these type games for me, to at least get some comedic relief.
