**Official Game-Day Thread** Texans at Packers, Sunday Dec 4, 2016!!

Drew Dougherty ‏@DoughertyDrew
"We're not finishing drives. Not finishing games."-O'Brien on what was difference today.

O'Brien: these next 4 games are like playoff games. Quick turnaround tomorrow to start getting ready for Colts.

Aaron Wilson ‏@AaronWilson_NFL
Bill O'Brien hopes to get Jadeveon Clowney ready for next week

Bob McNair on Brock Osweiler 'you can't be critical of him he played well' (surprised he's around, usually only does post game wins)

Houston Texans ‏@HoustonTexans
O'Brien: "Our guys played hard. They always play hard. It just wasn't enough."

O'Brien on Rodgers: "I thought we battled him hard." (OMG, he's channeling Kubiak)

Brian T. Smith ‏@ChronBrianSmith
O'Brien said #Texans must be better in fourth quarter. They're a team that has slim margin for error. Can't make mistakes.

O'Brien: we held Clowney (wrist/elbow) out. He's beat up and we didn't wanna lose him for rest of season. He wanted to play.

McNair said he thought Osweiler played well and he still has confidence in Osweiler as #Texans' QB.

McNair said he believes O'Brien has done a good job this season, especially considering #Texans' injuries.

Yeah especially when they gave up 27 points to NE's 3rd string qb...they're a middling defense at best...the offense isn't the only part of the team that goes and plays on the road..

Typical. You proved your point.
He no doubt deserves blame but BO'B is not doing a whole lot to help him and our WR's are not getting open near enough and when they do get a ball that Oz does throw with enough accuarcy they drop the passes. We have been relegated to counting on our TE's and that can not be the only option worth a s**t!!!

I am for either Oz or BO'B or both leaving. I really feel we need to try Savage and go from there. We can see if Savage is to blame most or if BO'B is our biggest problem at that point.

This the reason why I call them a undisciplined bunch.

As it should be. it may be hard to believe but I'm sure their pride is hurt just as much as yours. We've still got a chance to make it to the 2nd season. As bleak as it may look there's a slim chance they can pull it all together & do something.

If they turn on each other at the press conference, there would be absolutely no chance at all.

Oh, I agree... but time for new post game lines, especially for the 2nd half of the season. Mix it up a little.

I doubt they care that much. They are laughing and smiling after the game acting like it is no big deal even after 3 losses straight. Players like Watt show anger and actually care. Most players want to win but care more about the millions of dollars they make whether then win or lose. Sure if they play better they get more but they sleep fine at night knowing they are loaded.

Mcnair doesn't care much either because Texans pack his stadium and buy all the merchandise even though we suck.

At the end of the day we are 6-6 but we have beat only 1 good team this year (chiefs). Other than that we have played like utter crap.

A 5 year old could coach better than OB and my dog could play qb better than Brock

/End rant

This is on the offense. You can't score 13 and expect to win. Defense did its job for most of the game.

I remember a while ago someone asked, "would you rather your QB throw for 99 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs & win... or 300 yards, 1 TD & a loss?"

While Osweiler didn't play great, he didn't play poorly either. I think his last 4 games were much better than his first 4. At least I wasn't as upset with him as I was with O'Brien.

Though I admit it was clever of O'Brien not to run the ball on 1st down, I'm sure Capers figured out we'll be running on 2nd before the end of our first series.

Then while I love going for it on 4th down & I hate not scoring TDs, I hate not getting any points at all on an offensive possession. & if this is a case of not trusting the kicker, there's a better way to handle it... like get a kicker you can trust.

Then how do you features a RB averaging 1.6 ypc when you have two guys on the bench who avg'd over 6? feed the hot hand. Especially after Miller goes to the locker room dinged up. Then he was missing blocks all game. another reason to give him a "break"

& defensively... a blitz every now & again would be a good thing. safeties wouldn't hurt either. I understand there isn't a lot we can do mid season but continuing to rotate Demps & Pleasant every year... if Drummand, Dillard, & Coleman can't get these guys off the field, we should be trying out safeties every week. granted the secondary held up long enough for an avg pass rush to get to the QB... we can get better at safety, we've been trying for years & I'm just not seeing it

We beat the hottest team in football, the first place Detroit Lions. Winners of 7 out of their last 8 games. Otherwise they'd be on an 8-game winning streak.

We lost but hung tough with three talented teams: Packers, Chargers and Raiders. Two of them on the road. Not saying much but we weren't blown out in either game.

And we've beaten the Titans and Colts (3-0 in our division) to give us all the tiebreakers and remain in first place at 6-6. We have four games left and all of them are winnable games. Let's go win the AFC South since it's there for the taking.

I missed (well, I can't actually say I "missed") the game last Sunday and today I went to the pharmacy and Home Depot during the 3rd quarter, got back in time to watch the Pack go up 21-7. Then I started doing some minor repairs around the house. So the Texans lost. Oh well. Time to do laundry.

I really do applaud your optimism... I just get the feeling the titans will best us in the last game and win the division. I hope I'm wrong.

Yes we beat the lions and Chiefs before they hit thier stride. If we played them now we would be decimated.

Don't give up just yet. remember the NFL season is a journey & though the stats aren't impressive, the offense appear to be really close to getting it.

One play going our way & we're talking a different game.

Sure it's just as likely we teeter the wrong way & it all falls apart, but we're a good way beyond where we were in September & October

Why?

So I can spend $1,500 to see another Kansas City game?

Or are you delusional enough to believe this team is a SB contender?

After today's game you really think the offense is close to getting it Thunderkyss?

I mean we are consistently making the same exact mistakes that we've been making all year. Now our receivers are dropping passes at a alarming rate. We are not getting any running room because the offensive line is getting worse.

I'm sorry bud but I just don't see what you are seeing when you say, the offense is getting close".

So I ask, close to what exactly?

Delusion.

Sports media in New York or Boston would roast an owner for saying this. That's why they have more championships.

Chron writers, you need to be all over this.

The running lanes weren't there on the inside. if Miller would see what Blue saw, those would have been 20+ yard runs. had Blue been in the game a fee times in lieu of Miller those would have been 5 yard runs instead of 2.

Brock is making better decisions. Still improvements to be made, I think we're on the verge of getting past simple.

Nobody is forcing you to attend the game. Sell those playoff tickets if you want. I'd probably buy them for $2,000 if we win the AFC South and host another wild-card game.

Glad to see you enjoy wasting $$$$ more than I do.

The McNair's are counting on fans like you to make their 2nd billion.

This year is turning out to be and feel just like nothing more than a rebuilding year with a new rookie quarterback. I guess he's getting a little better every game and maybe next year we will have a good team with a solid quarterback. Improve the offensive line and a few other positions. I've pretty much wrote this year off at this point. Even if we did somehow make the playoffs, how far are you going to go with this team with all of it's issues.

Funny you mention Yellow Rose, had a shot of first running (outlaw) and it was incredible :shots: you have good taste my man and yes it does help with the pain.

Until the Packers got hot, Oz played sound if not great football. He still should do better against a Packers defense that has shown to be vulnerable plenty of times this season, this even though BO'B has no business running our offense or any other pro teams offense.

Today's loss is team wide. Oz was not as bad as the loss implies. He threw passes that were dropped and also had a hard time finding open recievers much of the game.

BO'B is a mainstay as head coach as long as we finish .500 or a slight bit better each season and we have injuries to key players for any length of time. That is our destiny!

The way BO'B calls offenses I do not think it matters who gets injured.

He called a solid game today for what it's worth but that is not good enough at this point in the season and with the record we have.

While Osweiler didn't play great, he didn't play poorly either.

For the life of me I can't understand why people are running to this guy's defense. Before the last TD drive in desperation mode, Osweiler was 58% completions, 148 yards. 4.7 Y/A, and an 81.1 PR. Now his passer rating may have been one of his best of the season, but the rest of it still sucks ass.

That's 3 1/2 quarters plus of suck ass football. You scored 13 points against a team that has routinely given up 30+ in 5 of their last 7 games, weather be damned.

Is it ALL on Brock? No, of course not. His head coach doesn't do him any favors, no doubt about that, OL blah, blah, blah, but it doesn't change the fact that it's an uphill battle for the Texans in every damn game this clown steps on a football field. Stop making excuses for him. HE SUCKS, HE SUCKS, HE SUCKS!!! There are no fucking positives! HE SUCKS!!

This offense is now scoring 18.1 PPG against defenses that give up 25+ PPG. It's no aberration, it's been 6 teams, 6 games.

You can go off on the OL problems, the run game struggles, drops, coaching, and whatever, and while all of that may be true, don't sit there with a straight face and tell me Brock didn't play that bad, it's not on Brock, That's total bullshit! He did NOT play well, it's just as much on him as everyone else, HE SUCKS!!

Sad thing is I think you really believe this.

I believe all is not lost. I believe there is hope.

That we're about to see our offense take a huge step beyond mediocrity? No I don't believe that they will. Only that it is possible.

For the life of me I can't understand why people are running to this guy's defense.

I'm not defending him, I'm just calling it like I see it. Ryan Griffin didn't play great, but he didn't play poorly either, fumble or no, he had an ok game.

I threw out earlier that Brox numbers weren't much different than Rodgers. That was bait. Aaron Rodgers would tell you he had a bad day. & it was arguably Brox' best day.

Eyeball wise, stats still don't mean much where Osweiler is concerned. But eyeball wise, he looks comfortable, in control of the offense, he got out of the pocket made some plays with his legs, looked like he made good decisions throughout the game.

Some bad decisions too, but nothing out of the ordinary imo. definitely not playoff ready. he's running out of time. so we'll see

Yes he is.

But he did play better today.

Not good enough to win, but better.

Osweiler was 58% completions, 148 yards. 4.7 Y/A, and an 81.1 PR.

Sorry, my numbers were a little off. 17-29, 58.6%, 125 yards, 4.3 Y/A, 80.4 PR before the last drive that started with 4:04 left in the game.

But if you guys think that's better from him, well, not sure I want any of those drugs.

If you watched the game, you noticed that the Packers players hardly ever slipped on the "Frozen Tundra." They played as if they were treated to the joys of a velcro field. Yet the "prepared" Texans (after all BOB had them practice in a drizzle in Houston) almost to the man throughout the game were seen to be playing more on one huge Slip-N-Slide.

Aaron Wilson ‏@AaronWilson_NFL 3h3 hours ago

Nick Novak slipped in the snow on missed extra point

After the game, Bouye said

Aaron Wilson ‏@AaronWilson_NFL 1h1 hour ago

A.J. Bouye' it was tough because between every play you had ice in your shoes and I had to scrape that off so I wouldn't slip'

And Lamar Miller said that he had to switch to cleats with more studs because he kept slipping.

These were preparations that could have been foreseen and made prior to the game using other teams'/players' experiences in such environments.

As last week I posted my concern that appropriate footwear for games have not been the Texans' staff forte in the past and would potentially be a major factor in today's game.............today it obviously proved to be an unlearned lesson.

OK, wait a minute. You guys are acting like we're supposed to EXPECT professional behavior from the Texans. What the fucks wrong with yall?

Now just so yall know, I was not insulting Dr. Cloak, I wouldn't ever insult him. But I would insult the rest of you, and have repeatedly if I remember correctly. Just wanted to be clear.:)

Edit: how did that F bomb make it past the server censorship routine? I usually leave the asterisks so yall can use your imagination.

He does suck! He made Griffin fumble on what was a sure scoring drive. Then he gave up singlehandedly a 98 yard scoring drive and a 89 yard scoring drive. That ******* bum!

I've repeatedly said it's not ALL on Brock. The fumble sucked and is not his fault. Socks James falling down is not his fault. The automatic runs up the middle on 2nd and 10 are not his fault (unless he can audible out of that crap).

I'm not saying it's ALL on Brock. Just don't tell me he wasn't that bad when he absolutely was.

One of those 4 yard losses was an audible. Brock saw something he didn't like. checked into a run, then quickly snapped the ball. Dude came unblocked & made a play.

I just watched the game a second time & I'm even more sure we're still installing our offense & I don't think Brock is the reason it's taking so long to get the offense going.

For all I know, O'b may be taking extra time with the basics because we built such a big lead in the first half of the season. looks like he's still installing things, still tutoring Godsey, still... preparing for the playoffs. I'm sure he wanted win this one, it just didn't work out.
