The only thing I don't agree with here is that you don't know that yet. You think you know that (I think I do too) but we don't know it yet. It's still early. I'm spooked as hell by what I'm seeing but it's still early.
I keep telling myself it's still too early. The pessimist in my just sees the negative though.
Hervoyel that's my point as well. I am by no means an Osweiler fanboy but there are good things there along with bad things. No one, not even Bill Belichick or Ron Wolf can definitely say Osweiler will or won't be talented enough to win a championship. He is absolutely a work in progress. I actually agree with 76 that his eyes and delivery are far from what we would typically look/scout for, yet he has the "it" factor of leader and short term memory loss after interceptions. Some of the greatest deliveries and best eye manipulation doesn't instantly equate to success. I remember ESPN and NFL Network harped on Hoyer and his compact delivery and quick release when he was leading Cleveland, and how did that experiment turn out.
76 as far as money goes we had no chance to get Goff or Wentz but I will anxiously watch Lynch's development. He's quirky and definitely has some plus traits but again so does Bortles and how does he look. Winston was lauded as the best football "thrower" since Marino and how is that working out. 18 million per on a short term deal isn't team crippling. Our offensive line injuries and lack of depth drafting in rounds 4-7 is a major issue in regards to our offense, and that is the bigger issue with me, lack of drafting offensive lineman for depth.
Is Osweiler perfect, absolutely not. Was he our best chance to win in the next 2-4 years, when rookies RARELY succeed deep into the postseason, absolutely.
Side note: I like Savage but unless an injury occurred and he was to receive significant playing time he may as well be placed in rookie/first year development category with limited real time experience. The Texans were trying to capitalize on Watt, Cushing, Wilfork, Joseph, etc while we have them.
