**Official GameDay Thread** Pre-Season Home Opener New Orleans Saints @ Houston Texans

I like what I'm seeing tonight, but it could be because the Saints aren't very good this year.

Akeem Hunt has proven that his performance against the 49ers wasn't a fluke. He secured his roster spot tonight.

Covington is definitely more interesting than Crick. I feel comfortable with our D. My comfort level with the O-Line will quickly diminish if we can't get are starters back soon enough.

The Texans did good enough today to keep me from worrying to horribly about them. Thank god I'm not a Saints fan. LOL

Replay of the game at 1:30 am CDT Sunday on NFLN
You'll probably have to listen to the Saints broadcasters for at least one half.

Half the distance to the goal line from the 32?

Maybe im oblivious to a rule but im still trying to figure this out? Half the distance doesn't equal a snap at the 12 yard line. Wtf?

“There were some good things in the passing game.” Bill O’Brien on the offense. Liked the two minute drill to end the half. #Texans

Houston Texans ‏@HoustonTexans
O'Brien on Clowney: "JD did a nice job today from what I could see on the sideline."

O'Brien: "We have to take another step next week and keep improving."

O'Brien: "There was some good, some not so good. Just happy we came out with a win. Improved from last week, which is a good sign."

O'Brien: "Offensively, we definitely improved. There were some good things in the passing game. Two-minute drill in the 1st half was good."

OB says he usually doesn't mention rookies but DJ Reader has really come on.

"Devon Still has gotten better & better every week. Chrisitan Covington has had a good camp." OB on DL standouts

"If you are able to go up against Johnathan Joseph, Kareem, Kevin & Bouye everyday, you're going to improve" OB on rookie WRs developing

"We wanted to get him a lot of snaps cause he didn't play last week" OB on Clowney playing into the 2nd half'

"Thought our first teams were improved from last week. Injuries happen into the NFL, the next guy has to step up" OB on OL injuries

Adam Wexler ‏@awexlerKPRC
O'Brien saying again he wants players they are going to need, can't have their 1st live action be vs. the Bears.

Tillman used an old school football coach saying, "Quick as a hiccup"

Yeah I saw your post, was wondering what Tk was laughing at so heard. I've heard that expression countless times

These guys may see more playtime than I am comfortable with especially due to the Martin injury and Browns recovery

Yep. Preseason is one thing, the regular season playing all the subs on the o-line will not be pretty.

I'm really liking the news on Reader. We needed young talent at that position badly. If he continues like this, you have to give Rick Smith credit for that draft value.
What I'm seeing from this draft class is nothing but positive from all of them. This was a great draft for the Texans so far. Last year is producing some really good players too. Smith might not look so bad if last years and this years draft and UDFA classes actually produce some great players, and so far, it looks like they are.

Braxton, Braxton, Braxton. Man, I had high hopes on him when they drafted him and he is not disappointing. I can't wait to see what he does when the real bullets fly!

Braxton and Will were pretty wide open allot. Those guys are going to be very serious weapons. Hop is going to be happy to lose all those double teams he has had to deal with. Now, when he's double teamed, that means either Will or Brax will be open. Defenses are in so much trouble. Especially with Lamar in the back field. This offense could possibly be the equal to this defense. If that's the case, the Texans could just possibly be as unbeatable as the 72 Dolphins or the the 85 Bears. We could be looking at something very special.

What do you think about Kj Dillon? I saw him as a gunner on one of our punt coverage teams. He did pretty good.

Other than that he's been the invisible man.

Every single new guy can't be prefect. Dillon hasn't shown much so far. He needs to step up allot. Not only on special teams, but what he was drafted for. The safety position.

I have to remind myself that these guys have only had a couple of quarters of dress rehearsal NFL action.

Tyler Ervin hasn't done a lot either, but I think some guys are just going to need to get more comfortable. Ability seems to be there though.

Interesting that OB mentioned Stills in a positive light after comments earlier in the week about how disappointing he'd been.
