Texans relees Brian Hoyer

He's waiting for an offer as a starter..........I don't see an outright situation like that really available at this particular time

You may be right. That situation isn't going to be in the cards unless there is a major injury before the season starts.

Nobody's going to name him the starter when they sign him - heck, the Texans didn't even technically do that (emphasis on word technically). I could see a scenario where the Jets, Broncos (if they don't trade for Kaepernick or someone else), or San Fran (if the Broncos do trade for Kaepernick) give him a chance to compete to start.

I doubt that any team with smarts would pick him as a starter unless absolutely desperate...........unless they "forget" about his concussion history and the fact that his next QB hit may be his last.

First, I think you're giving the NFL too much credit. If he's medically cleared to play (which he obviously is since he started the playoff game), I don't think it's going to factor in to that decision. Secondly, if it did cause a team to scratch him as a potential starter, I'm not sure why they would then turn around and say that they're fine with him as a backup. Every backup in the NFL (no matter how much they suck) is simply an NFL starter waiting to happen.

There's lots of reasons to think Hoyer won't be anyone's starter this season, but I don't believe the concussion issue is one of them (which isn't to say it shouldn't be - it just won't be).

I really want Hoyerable or Butt Fumble to be the Bronco's 1/2 QBs to start the season. It just reeks of arrogance to think you're team is so good that you can overcome the perpetual garbage QB play that those two represent.

I realize that this is kind of a mean attitude on my part. I'm okay with that inside of the fan bubble. I guess I'm just burned out of the same teams winning championships over the years that I could not care any less if the Patriots, Broncos, Steelers, Cowboys, Giants, 49ers, and even Packers, ever make it to the Super Bowl again. A big part of that is the jackass fans of these teams.

That's the Fitz I fell in love with. F'ck the man.

He's not going to slide short of a first down. He's going to tuck that ball in, put his head down & go get his first down.

Might not work this time, but I love the spirit.

I hope Fitz walks into the sunset or gets a better offer elsewhere. The Jets are then unable to land a QB in the draft and they have to crawl to Hoyer and bring him in to start for them, and then they are forced to live through our pain from this last year.

I hope Rex picks him up for $7M & sweep the Jets in 2016.

St. Louis Rams (2005–2006)
Cincinnati Bengals (2007–2008)
Buffalo Bills (2009–2012)
Tennessee Titans (2013)
Houston Texans (2014)
New York Jets (2015)

Back to Fitz, he sure switched teams a lot, makes you wonder why. Thank goodness he is super smart, all those play books to learn

I think the bears in Chicago have been spending to much time with polar bears. They can't think straight now. This kind of sh!t is what happens when you do stuff like that.

HOYER SIGNING With THE BEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!

for 1 year deal

I really don't like wishing injury on anyone, so I'm going to hope Jay Cutler has a baby or something week 1, skips the game, so we can hurt Bryan freak'n Hoy...

I'm just kidding. I don't wish any harm on Hoyer.

Bummer, good friend of mine is a Broncos fan. I was hoping the Broncos would pick him up making Oct 24th an epic MNF game.

The Texans open against the Bears, so if Cutler doesn't make it out of preseason healthy....

Ehhh...he's the backup Qou butB. At least half the backup QB's in the NFL are retreads (including the Texans). Not exactly something to jump up and down about.
i get you but Savage not a retread. You are probably referring to Weeden; not sure I would call him retread as he has not played much anywhere.

Yeah, I'm talking about Weeden (and I agree, Savage is not a retread). Weeden's been in the league for four seasons, and he's started 15 games for three different teams. I feel fairly comfortable referring to him as a retread.

Maybe, but I'm not sure I buy the prefix "re-". :D

Plus, anyone who started their career with the Browns gets my sympathy.
