2016 FirstPick Draft Simulator

1. A'Shawn Robinson, DT, Alabama
Starter sooner than later can play all three downs, use Wilfork as short yardage specialist while helping coach Robinson up.

2. OJ Howard, TE, Alabama
This position must improve & OJ is one of the few elite TE's in this class.

3. Devontae Booker, RB, Utah
Big fan of his, strikes me as durable workhorse. Should give Texans a potent one two with Arian Foster (reduce his workload as well).

4. Dak Prescott, QB, Mississippi State
Think O'Brian hangs onto Hoyer who is day one starter. Will see where Savage is but Dak would be the future.

5. Joe Haeg, OT, ND State
I know he's not here this late but talk to fans speak.

5. Deon Bush, S, Miami
Very gifted athlete to bolster DB's.

6. Roger Lewis, WR, Bowling Green
Bye bye Washington hello Lewis.

The top 3 alone would be a hell of a haul .... I was thrilled in getting two of them in the above draft.

I just completed a draft by trading with TB into the 1-9 slot for 1-22, 2-21 and 2017 first to get Wentz.

I'm not sure if I would actually do it though.

I would do that in a second.

Unfortunately, while it works on the draft trade chart, the price to move up from #22 to #9 for a top QB is going to cost more than that because you will be competing against other teams who are trying to move into that slot for the QB.

Correct. The closest comparison is Atlanta trading up for Julio Jones and Atlanta gave up far more to get the deal done. 5 picks I think.

One upped that one with the same picks to get the sixth pick.

Traded the 22nd, 2017 1st, and 2018 1st for SD's #3. Which I'd do a every day and twice on Sunday.

The rest, if only ...

4 WR, 2 RB and a mid range QB with no help on the OL. You're just going for score aren't you?

Yep!

I actually think this could work if Savage is better than some people think (because he was drafted in the fourth round).

Doesn't matter where he was drafted... or who the QB is if the OL is a sieve

Just thought I'd throw this up there. Used 1-10 and 2017 1st to move to 1-1. This should interest Texian since we get both his top QB picks AND pick up an emergency backup with Braxton Miller. Getting good line help, a kicker and JJ's Brother isn't bad either.

Round 1 Pick 1 (CHI): Jared Goff, QB, California (A)
Round 2 Pick 10: Cody Whitehair, OG, Kansas State (A)
Round 3 Pick 10: Dan Voltz, C, Wisconsin (A+)
Round 4 Pick 10: Carson Wentz, QB, North Dakota State (A)
Round 5 Pick 9: Curt Maggitt, OLB, Tennessee (A+)
Round 6 Pick 10: Braxton Miller, WR, Ohio State (A)
Round 7 Pick 12: Derek Watt, FB, Wisconsin (B+)
Round 7 Pick 23: Brad Craddock, K, Maryland (B-)

It's nice to dream, what a dilemma to have, two franchise QB's battling it out in training camp 1a & 1b. While also improving OL. Braxton Miller maybe a surprise superstar in the making he is type of WR who compliments DeAndre, creates seperation out of breaks, also take cover off. Maggitt has Whitney potential, could slip through the cracks, think he'll be very productive and great addition. Don't need to mention Watt's brother, H-back slot TE & short yardage, blocking FB. Don't mind drafting a kicker late think it makes sense given need, rated 2nd in this years draft class. I'll take Marshall Law!

Round 5 Pick 20: C.J. Prosise, RB, Notre Dame (A+)
Round 5 Pick 27: Malcolm Mitchell, WR, Georgia (A+)
Round 6 Pick 20: Tajae Sharpe, WR, Massachusetts (A+)

I actually like this draft better than the on I got high score with. Wentz is unlikely to fall to us at 22, but maybe if we start a baseless rumor about his ties to a white supremacist group, we could make it happen.

:hmmm:

Look up. That's the joke going over your head.
Yep. I tend to get blinders and miss the jokes at times. At other times it's no problem. Still at other times I see a joke that wasn't intended to be a joke. Those are the funniest kinds.

Denver offered their 31st and 3rd for 22 in a bizarre bit of pretty accurate trade scenario, so I had to take it.

and so...

Round 1 Pick 31 (DEN): Andrew Billings, DT, Baylor (A+)
Round 2 Pick 21: Shon Coleman, OT, Auburn (A-)
Round 3 Pick 22: Sterling Shepard, WR, Oklahoma (A+)
Round 3 Pick 31 (DEN): Nick Vannett, TE, Ohio State (A-)

I'm working on a draft:

Traded up to 1-4 with Dallas giving up 1-22 and 2017 1st to get Laremy Tunsil OT , Top player in the draft at a position of need.

Traded up to 1-14 with Oakland giving up 2-53 and 2018 1st to get Carson Wentz QB in a value play.

I know I won't score well giving up both future picks, but I would expect both to be in the bottom of the first and receiving top of the first talent.

Traded 3-85 down to pick up Denver's 3rd and 4th rounders.
3-94 Landon Turner OG

Traded back up to pickup 4-107
4-107 Kenneth Dixon RB

Traded down two spots to pick up another fifth.
4-122 Roberto Aguayo K
5-8 Jordan Jenkins OLB
5-20 Scooby Wright III ILB
5-27 Tajae Sharpe WR
6-5 Charone Peake WR
6-18 Malcolm Mitchell WR
6-20 Tom Hackett P
7-16 Demarcus Robinson WR

I'm Surprised it still scored 10068, even with trading away both future picks.

Round 5 Pick 20: Joe Schobert, OLB, Wisconsin (A+)
Round 6 Pick 20: Thomas Duarte, WR, UCLA (A+)

It didn't score well because I had to trade up to get both Tunsil and Jack using the 2017 and 2018 first round picks as well as the 2-21 this year. But I love this draft anyway. I'm thinking Shawn might be better suited to NT and he would have a great mentor and time to work into the lineup.

Another Great Draft in my opinion. Of course it cost us 2017 and 2018 1st Rnd picks. But I still think this is worth it. But the scoring hates moving up a year and two.

Just ran a quick one as Tenn. post-trade and, well, damn ...

what the blockbuster could mean for us against them ...

Round 1 Pick 15: Josh Doctson, WR, TCU (B)
Round 2 Pick 2: Shon Coleman, OT, Auburn (B)
Round 2 Pick 12: Vonn Bell, SS/FS, Ohio State (A)
Round 2 Pick 14: Jaylon Smith, OLB/ILB, Notre Dame (A-)

Round 3 Pick 13: Jalen Mills, FS/CB, LSU (A-)
Round 5 Pick 1: Willie Beavers, OT, Western Michigan (B)
Round 6 Pick 18: Anthony Zettel, DE, Penn State (B-)
Round 7 Pick 1: KeiVarae Russell, CB, Notre Dame (B+)

couldn't care less about the letter grades, those guys are seriously filling holes/adding challenges ... both short- and long-term.

And I'm sure with some more research and effort the outcome would become more daunting a result.

ugh.

This is what I was hoping for back in 13, but there were no desperate teams that year.

There was no desperation in the Rams' move. They could have easily stayed put & got Lynch.

This was a case of falling in love with one player.

That would assume that staying put for Lynch would ease any concerns.

I do agree that this isn't necessarily desperation though. They knew what they wanted and they went and go it at a market price.

No one in their right mind would pick Jaylon Smith in the second round. Following his disastrous injury, and with his recent medical re-examination, he will not be playing this year. He has denied any nerve damage all along, but as I posted after the injury occurred, he has sustained a significant injury to his peroneal nerve, which controls elevation (dorsiflexion) of the foot. He actually posted a video with his denial in order to show that he could walk normally without a brace........to "prove" he had no nerve damage. However, after reviewing this VIDEO (scroll down until you find it mid page), I clearly noted that to the untrained eye, the slow walk seemed normal enough.........BUT.......watch his right foot......it points upward (dorsiflexion) as he takes a step forward. Now watch his left foot and you will note the whole foot lifts up, but it does not point upward.........it actually demonstrates the classic peroneal nerve inability to dorsiflex the foot. If this nerve's function does not return, keeping in mind that it supplies movement and sensation to the lower leg, foot and toes , you have a player will not be able to run, stop a cut effectively.

Fair enough. It was a pretty obvious luxury pick for a team that could pretty obviously afford it. But seeing as he'll never walk again I'll rethink my simulated rough mock draft.

I just want to clarify my evaluation. We won't know for sure how much of his nerve function could return until ~2 years post injury. But the conclusions drawn from his recent re-evaluation would not be taken as much of a positive.
