The Actual And Real 2016 Texans' Talk Mock Draft Extravaganza

Well, he nabbed Jared Goff in the first round, so how about Connor Cook in the 2nd?

That was a joke.

They need OL, ILB, and WR?

I'd probably go Corey Coleman or Will Fuller here, maybe Vadal Alexander?

I would say Coleman or Joshua Garnett.

I like the Garnett pick. With Anthony Davis coming back and pairing him with Staley you've got your bookend OT's. Add Garnett and a C and all of the sudden the OL starts to look alot like the 49ers OL of 3 yrs ago.

His clock just ran out. Any more votes on who the pick should be? Appears to be 2-1 in favor of Corey Coleman over Garnett/Alexander.

With the 37th pick in the NFL draft, the San Francisco 49ers take: Corey Coleman, WR, Baylor.

Jacksonville selects Yannick Ngakoue – DE/OLB, Maryland

Jags continue to add to their front seven by taking this athletic pass rusher. Honestly, I feel like people are completely missing the boat on this guy. I see zero separation between him and Noah Spence yet Spence is considered a late 1st round prospect (despite character concerns) while Ngakoue is considered a mid-round guy (despite zero off-field concerns). Their athleticism and production is almost identical.

Jags already added a DE in the 1st round in Joey Bosa and a DE/DT in Malik Jackson during Free Agency. They also get back last year's 1st round pick in DE Dante Fowler. However, they add even more to the pass rush here because it is still sorely needed. I envision Ngakoue as an off-ball SAM linebacker who is utilized as an edge rusher much like Bruce Irvin was in Seattle or how Von Miller was in Denver (before they switched to a 3-4). You can then slide him down to DE across from Fowler in passing situations and move Bosa/Jackson inside. I considered waiting until the 3rd round to pull the trigger because I feel like he is that far under the radar, but didn't want to risk it so went ahead and took my guy.

This is another reason I love doing this. It helps me adjust my board... which starts off as primarily the CBS Draft Scout rankings and then I combine that with other rankings.

After taking Stanley as their future LT...

The Bucs take Karl Joseph, S, West Virginia.

Joseph can pretty much do anything you want. He can man the slot, play centerfield and he plays the run and short passing game very well.

Dammit. Really like him for the Texans.

You got so many pass rushers now you can move a few of them to Corner or Safety lol. Lot of FG block special teamers too.

As Denver proved this year...if you can rush the passer, you can win any game. Pass rush has been the Jags achilles heel for years now. As their interim GM, I take it upon myself to finally remedy that.

I had to go way down my list to find him. 222 so I guess I'll learn something.

CBS has Spence as #29 overall and Ngakoue as #207. How you could look at those two guys and see that much difference is beyond me. They have him ranked as a 6th rounder which immediately leads me to questioning their crediblity as evaluators. The guy got a 2nd round grade from the advisory committee and was getting 1st round hype during the Combine.

WalterFootball has a 2-3rd round grade on him.

I like the pick. You guys think he can instantly contend w/ Zach Miller for the job or you think Zach is gonna put it on him?

I'm concerned with his ability to run through NFL sized creases... but Miami's a two time loser not being able to keep Lamar Miller, or woo Cj Anderson. They happen to like size in a RB & I think this is the biggest RB I've seen in a long, long time.

With the 42nd pick in the 2016 NFL draft, The Miami Dolphins select.... Derrick Henry RB (Alabama)

The Rams need a QB, though not as badly as some say. I like Case, but with Treadwell in the fold from the first selection, the Rams go to the other end of the battery.

With the 43rd Pick of the 2016 draft, the Los Angeles Rams select:

Connor Cook, QB out of Michigan State

connor-cook.jpg

With the 44th pick the Oakland Raiders select Vonn Bell safety from The Ohio State University.

I was going back and forth with him and another player here, but decided he was to good to pass up on at a dire position of need for the Raiders. With Charles Woodson retired, and Reggie Nelson leaving without a contract they need to address Safety sooner rather then later. So they take probably the best pure cover safety in the draft. Started his career playing nickle corner, then was moved to safety he has the coverage game down pat. His size is of concern to some in the scouting community, but he isnt afraid to mix it up physically in the run game. Back to back champions for the Raiders, they could do worse

If you hadn't taken him I would have.

Guys, I'm up again with the Steelers at 52 or 53. I'm about 11 picks away but this thing is going fast. I'm back at the computer at 0600 and can make the pick then. If my pick comes along before then and you all don't wanna wait, go ahead and pick it for me.

Pittsburgh doesn't pick again till #58 right? I'm not sure we'll get through the Texans pick at #52 tonight unless all the eligible voters get their votes in early.

With the 45th pick of the 2016 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Rams select:

Jaylon Smith LB from Notre Dame

Though only a moderate need, he's just too good to pass on when you get the chance.

Kinda glad you did this. Buffalo has a lot of needs and ILB isn't at the top of that list. Not sure we can afford a luxury pick like that but I was really thinking about it. Now I won't be tempted.
