Completely expected and the smart thing to do.
I feel bad for the guy but it's a business.

For all three games he's not hurt.He will do great in New England next year
Smart move. So now go for miller in FA.
Truer Words have never been spokenFor all three games he's not hurt.
Yeah mine too. He played hard for this team. His body betrayed him but when he was out there he has a great worker and produced. Don't care about his views about religion, politics or the extra marital stuff. That's his business and none of mine. I see him as a player on this team that just like Andre was a professional and did his job very well. I wish him the best (except when he plays against us) wherever he ends up or if it's outside of football.I agree, still one of my favorite Texans of all time.
Sad but expected. Favorite Foster game memories? Mine:
2nd TD run against the Bengals in 1st playoff game.
Juking the **** outta Polamalu and scoring TD against the Steelers.
Racking up 200+ on Indy on opening day

Big move: Arian Foster has been told the Texans are releasing him, per a source close to him. After great run, Foster finished in Houston.
Few were better when he was healthy. Complete package.
Behind Hoyer and Carr. Just Kidding.Third best Texan all-time?
Those were awesome, he was just never the same without Koob. His agent should be on the phone with Elway.
So in two years Texans have released their all time franchise WR & RB. Cupboard is empty not to mention QB, guess we didn't see this coming, LOL

Blue should be cut next. One of the smoothest RBs with the ball I've seen since Marcus Allen. RB was already a hole needing filled. Now it's a huge need. Blue is a horrible RB
Garrett Graham released as well. Twitter buzzing saying safety Rahim Moore is next
I'm in the minority. I don't see this as a "had to be done" move.
We're not hurting for money. I'll be interested to see how active the Texans are in FA. If it's the same ol, same ol... then no. This doesn't make sense to me.
I think the injury history, questionable return to form from the achilles injury and money combined to make this inevitable.I'm in the minority. I don't see this as a "had to be done" move.

I don't look at it like hurting for money just to pay Foster. We have that. But do you honestly have much confidence that he'll play more than a handful of games at most? At which point couldn't that money be better allocated elsewhere? Not saying we're going to necessarily use 'his' money wisely, because who knows as of now, just that the idea alone is on allocating resources versus a guy who can't stay on the field.

Just like AJ last year. Had to be done.

Since Rick Smith told us all that Foster would not be cut because of money, why do we all think this cut was made?
#firericksmith
Happy trails Arian, take care of that hamstring/Achilles/baby mommas et al.

Certainly, the 3rd greatest Texan of all time. Foster would be on the Texans Mt. Rushmore along with JJ, AJ, and....Joe Texan?
Is Arian the 2nd greatest Houston pro football RB of all time? Yeah, I think so.
Well, Rick Smith is a lying backstabbing yes man, so that should explain Smith's statement.
I agree with this but what have they done to replace that talent?. All they did was go full circle with Nuk by giving him the double teams AJ used to get. They released Foster now they better replace that talent, I don't want to hear them say, "we are going with what we got again".It was that time for both guys. Got on with age and didn't live up to the salary anymore. Better to cut a guy loose a year too early than a year too late.
I thought they did a good job of having an Andre replacement ready. Not so much with Foster or Schaub.
I understand the injury thing. If he hurt himself popping firecrakers in the offseason, I can understand.
This guy was hurt on the field for us. That's the way I look at it. Trying to win games so we can feel good about our team. It's a lot of money & if the Texans plan on being aggressive in FA, I'm all for it. Even if we needed the money just to sign our own (Jones, Brooks, Crick), I'm down.
Again, if the doctors are 100% sure that he'll never run another down..... 90% sure. I'm with it.
If it were me, I'd have approached him about an extension, restructure, or pay cut. When Arian Foster decides he's had enough, I'd like for it to be as a Texans. If we were able to keep him, I'd sparingly use him throughout the year, ramping it up as the season goes on. Maybe leaning on him from December on.
Now, we'll never know how he's going to perform taking my approach. He's going to be pressed into service early to see what he's got & by the time he's healthy to contribute, he may be knicked up again.
So just imagine the Texans did it my way & Arian can actually contribute in December, January... & he's a big part of why we're in the AFC Championship game.
I know it's a pipe dream. I know it's not the "business" thing to do. I know, I probably would have done the same thing. I'm just saying I don't agree that it "had" to be done.
Same thing with Cushing. We're talking about saving $2M...
I'd have to throw CnD on there if we're including fans. lolWell said, man. I can't think of anyone outside of Earl that would be ahead of Arian.
And Texans Mt. Rushmore = A.J., J.J., Arian, and Texans Chick.![]()
