LAS VEGAS — Johnny Manziel, who will sit out the Cleveland Browns' regular season finale Sunday due to a concussion, was seen Saturday dining and gambling at Las Vegas' Planet Hollywood casino, according to employees and patrons who interacted with the embattled quarterback.

Manziel, who Browns coach Mike Pettine said still must address off-field problems that resulted in a stint in rehab last year, paid cash for a meal at a restaurant in the casino, according to Tina Samira, a waitress who served Manziel and his guests at Heart Bar at Planet Hollywood.

Manziel also sat down at a blackjack table and a casino employee examining his photo ID exclaimed, "We've got Johnny Manziel with us tonight," according to John Hornacek, a 43-year-old casino patron who witnessed the exchange.

Cleveland Browns vice president of communications Peter John Baptiste would not confirm for USA TODAY Sports whether Manziel was in Cleveland, or if club policy dictated that an inactive player's attendance was required at Sunday's game.

Manziel's rookie season ended under dubious circumstances, when he overslept before the Dec. 27, 2014 season finale while partying with teammate Josh Gordon. Gordon, who had past violations of the NFL's substance abuse policy, was eventually suspended indefinitely, and Manziel entered alcohol rehab in February 2015.

As word of Manziel's presence in Las Vegas spread on social media, he posted a photo on Instagram showing him home with his dog, with the hashtag #SaturdayNights. He later added Avon, Ohio as the photo's location.

Because jerry jones is the Kim karfashian of NFL owners. Winning is all well and good but the need for attention and hype are too tempting to pass up.

Manziel is going to be known as Jonny Affluenza. He just doesn't get it or doesn't give a bleep.

By the terms of the Protocol, he could not be on the sidelines, but although not required to, could be in the stadium. Manziel chose not to attend the game......and that's fine. But he also chose not to show up to the Sunday morning's Protocol-mandated concussion test.

This could not be said to be Manziel thumbing his nose to the Browns in attempt to being traded............this is a thumbing of his nose to the NFL Concussion Protocol.........and directly to the NFL itself.

I hope to see Manziel get the opportunity to thumb his nose as often as he wants to..................from outside the NFL.

CLE is a schithole but this guy acts like he's too good for that scene even though he hasn't accomplished squat in the NFL. He'll get another shot then blow that one too.
 
Maybe Johnny just realizes he might not even be good enough to realize his hype and so now he wants to go out as a bad boy to maintain his image instead of flaming out because he's not a great QB.

Johnny Manziel was reportedly in Las Vegas on Saturday night, hours before the Browns season finale. Manziel, who was due to miss the game because of a concussion, wore a blonde wig, fake mustache, glasses, and used a fake name in a Vegas casino. Via the Facebook for ESPN Las Vegas:

Our sources tell us Manziel was at a popular night club on the strip Saturday night. The QB entered wearing a blonde wig, a fake mustache, glasses, and a hoodie.

Manziel introduced himself as “Billy.” He was there into the 3am hour and when it came time to pay the bill, he asked to have it comped because he didn’t bring cash and also didn’t want to put it on his card.

However, the sources tell us he ended up paying with his card and signing the check.

By 3am he appeared to be enjoying the party scene that Vegas is known to offer.

The club had Manziel and his crew placed at a VIP table close to the DJ booth. The table is located in one of the darkest areas of the club.

Manziel dined at the club’s restaurant before going to the nightclub. He was seated at the most private area in the restaurant, which is still out in the open. And yes, he ate with his wig and glasses on.

Manziel was at Planet Hollywood according to USA TODAY, but the ESPN Las Vegas report doesn’t mention the casino by name. It should also be noted that there is a picture circulating showing Manziel in his natural hair playing blackjack in Las Vegas. That’s from his 21st birthday in 2013.

I'll never sniff an NFL contract and I'm too good for that scene. I don't know you and for all I know you may have one arm, mops for legs and feet, and a negative IQ and I'd still vouch on pure assumption and benefit of the doubt that you're too good for the "Cleveland scene". That's a leg that I'll give Johnny to stand on.

Johnny Manziel is presumably on his way out of Cleveland. His tenure there has reached the point where nearly any story about him, whether or not it ultimately proves true, is plausible when you first hear it. During the Browns postgame show on ESPN Radio’s Cleveland affiliate, Tony Grossi had this to say:

Grossi said that he asked (now former) Browns head coach Mike Pettine in the postgame presser if Manziel was, as he’d heard, “disheveled” and “inebriated” at practice on Tuesday. “He denied that that happened on Tuesday,” Grossi said. “But other people I [later?] talked to said that it happened the next day, on Wednesday.”

Now, given that there are reports that Manziel was out in Vegas on Saturday night, and that the team couldn’t reach him Sunday morning, it’s not as though this story, if true, does much more to compound the situation.

Manziel isn’t likely to garner much sympathy, but it does not appear that he’s in total control of his behavior. He tried to get the help he evidently needs last offseason. Bluntly, at this juncture it does not feel probable that he will clean himself up before his partying leads him out of the league.

I'm so sick of hearing about this clown.

Good grief, He ought to seriously start trying to figure out a career on how to just be some sort of part animal character for reality shows, publicity stunts, and other stuff.

He never looked like a good prospect for the pros with his size and inability to shift around the pocket, but all he has done since coming into the league is humiliate himself. I don't think he deserves a 2nd chance at this point. I think any NFL team that would even make him their backup is out of their minds. Thank god he'll never end up here.
 
I hate having to hear/read anything about this guy... so much that I'll click on this link several times a day & rant for a paragraph or two just to compensate for my small man parts.

I'm a stronger of second chances and especially for young people who mature slower, but eventually choose to put the behavior behind them and move on. I think it happened for Michael Vick, Adam Jones, Michael Irvin and many others. Youthful indiscretion is on thing, but in addition to the party issues, which I can be patient that will change, BUT, the integrity issues that are surfacing is one that is beyond the typical benefit of the doubt I will give. The latest I heard this morning (btw not first time he outright lied) was how he cleverly posted pictures of him on New Year's eve with his dog supposedly being in Ohio. However, several witnesses confirmed that he was indeed in Las Vegas, named the club and said that he was wearing a blond wig and glasses as a disguise and said that his name was Billy. Now that is the straw that has broken my back.

Johnny Manziel made a booze run outside Cleveland Monday evening, but his purchases sounded less like a frat boy rager and more like a rom com night at home.

We got this shot of Manziel at a Heinen's Grocery Store ... checking out with a couple bottles of wine around 6 PM. Witnesses in the store tell us the Browns troubled QB was with a buddy, who ran to scoop up some chips at the last second before they left.

Looks like he opted for a vintage from the Klinker Brick Winery, specializing in Zinfandels and Syrahs. Again ... smells like Netflix and chill.

On the other hand, the wine run comes on the heels of Manziel's Las Vegas jaunt over the weekend, and missing a meeting with doctors at Browns HQ Sunday morning.

Wine and chips ain't Vegas -- but considering Manziel's track record, it's gotta be interesting to Browns brass who are deciding what the future looks like with Johnny.

CLEVELAND, Ohio-- What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, unless you're Johnny Manziel. More proof of that coming out this week makes it more unlikely than ever that Manziel will be staying in Cleveland as the Browns quarterback.

Manziel's decision to fly to Las Vegas instead of attending the Steelers game was already bad enough before it was reported that he allegedly disguised himself with a blond whig, glasses and fake mustache.

According to concussion protocol rules, Manziel was not allowed to be on the sidelines for Sunday's game. But the fact that he wasn't watching the game from the locker room, press box or a loge, is indefensible.

Manziel may have intended to thumb his nose at Mike Pettine with his absence, but he ended up slapping his teammates in the face. Teammates who had nothing to do with the decision not to start him after his leading the team to a win over Tennessee. Teammates who had nothing to do with Pettine's call to bench him after naming him starter. Teammates who Manziel had begun to win over, along with some critics, with his solid play against San Francisco and hard-playing, instead of hard partying, against Kansas City.


By Monday, the Browns season was over and players were free of team obligations to go on their way for the offseason. But Manziel couldn't even wait three days to hit Vegas?

Maybe Manziel's masquerade party is proof that he really was concussed. Or Manziel figured the issue was not his off-field behavior, but his off-field behavior being shared on social media, and thus wearing a disguise is his way of being responsible.

It's understandable that Manziel would rather being playing for Dallas, as is being reported. But if the Vegas trip was designed to get him traded to Dallas,the strategy was as ill conceived as his Vegas disguise. Jerry Jones had already been talked out of drafting Manziel. The people who talked Jones out drafting Manziel, are still with the Cowboys, and Manziel just tossed them more reasons to talk Jones out of trading for him.

Against the 49ers, and the Chiefs, Manziel showed he can play in the NFL. But with his play in Vegas he also showed he has the ability to generate as many disguise memes as he does passing yards.

The Browns new stat guru will now have to determine the percentage of quarterbacks who succeeded in the NFL after using fake mustaches and names in Vegas.
 
Jets' Brandon Marshall's message to Johnny Manziel: 'I don't think you get it'

During Tuesday night's episode of Showtime's "Inside the NFL," Marshall delivered a message to Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel, whose first two NFL seasons were a disaster. And Manziel has nobody to blame but himself.

Marshall was asked about Manziel during a segment of Tuesday's show that had Marshall offer direct advice to the troubled young quarterback.

"Johnny, Johnny, Johnny," Marshall said. "This is a serious topic. Well, first, you've got to forget about football, sir. You need to go get your life together. And to be quite frank, I don't think you get it. You don't understand. You're ruining a very, very special opportunity. It's an honor to be in the NFL.


"There is a thing out there called divine mentorship, where you can learn from others' mistakes. He has the opportunity to really sit back and reflect on his situation, look at others, and learn from it and be better."

The latest Manziel mess happened last weekend, as the Browns lost their season finale to the Steelers. Manziel was reportedly spotted partying in Las Vegas, while wearing an absurd disguise.

Manziel has well-documented issues with alcohol, including a rehab stint last year. The Browns this season made it clear to him that they were taking a zero-tolerance policy for any further missteps — even if his behavior is legal.

Now, Manziel's days in Cleveland might be done, just two seasons after he was drafted 22nd overall.

The Browns, a miserable franchise, are searching for a new head coach and general manager, after firing ex-Jets defensive coordinator Mike Pettine and Ray Farmer. Cleveland went 3-13 this season and has won just three of its past 21 games since November of 2014.

This isn't the first time Marshall has discussed Manziel's problems on "Inside the NFL." In late November, Marshall expressed concern about Manziel's drinking, after he was caught on video partying at a club during the Browns' bye week.

Assessing how these guys did.

"Recovery, addiction, and mental illness is serious," Marshall said in November. "So we don't know his diagnosis. But the guy, he went to rehab. So if he is an alcoholic, and this came up, it's a problem.


"If he's an alcoholic, and he's doing this, this is problematic. This is a big issue. When he was sober, he was definitely a better teammate, and a better player. So that's the player that the ownership wants."

My mistake (I deleted that statement)!!!!! The Browns have 12.
I was trying to make the point that the vets on the Browns team likely choosing out of there.....and outside FAs choosing to remain outside of chaotic Cleveland.

Totally agree... if the Owner chooses to keep Manziel, he's just guaranteeing that the factory of sadness continues
 
I'm actually wondering why the NFL has remained so mum re. Manziel totally ignoring the NFL-mandated Protocol?????? The NFL has continued to show that the Protocol is a JOKE, and that the League's concern is all window dressing.

Does anybody still have that fan made photo of Bill O'Brien giving Johnn Manziel, in a Texans jersey, some plays from the side line? It was made prior to the 2014 NFL Draft.

The Dallas Cowboys can't sign both Robert Griffin III and Johnny Manziel can they? I don't think Johnny Football wants to compete for a backup job so he may be the better bet to sign with the Texans. RG3 on the other hand is already telling some of his close friends and family that the Cowboys are at the top of his list.

I could see both of the two former Texas collegiate quarterback stars (RG3 at Baylor and Johnny Manziel at Texas A&M) both coming home. One of them signing with the Cowboys and one of them signing with the Texans.

My only fear is this would be another so-called Browns reject we brought in at quarterback (Hoyer last year, Manziel this year) and Cleveland isn't known as a successful quarterback factory in recent history. But Johnny Manziel is a young kid who can still develop with proper coaching and therapy. His mental game and what he does off he field is more of a concern to me than his physical tools.

Now if Johnny Manziel came here maybe he can hang out with J.J. Watt and garner a lot of off-the-field recognition for the right reasons. Watt has his fun off the field too. Going to NBA and NHL games. Meeting numerous celebrities, appearing in TV shows and movies, visiting children hospitals, playing all sports in charity events (including his famous Softball Tournament). Watt has even been to a few clubs.

Manziel could come here and have his fun just like Watt. Just do it the right way and don't drink alcohol. I believe Johnny Manziel will still be a trainwreck if Jerry Jones was his owner. He'd be better off in Houston than Dallas. Although College Station and Austin aren't too from here. He has to stay away from some of his local hangout spots which is bad for him.

Between RG3 and Manziel, it's up to them to become a good NFL quarterback. Regardless of what team signs them. Both of them have great talent. They both had the college football world inside the palm of their hands. Both are still young enough to have a solid NFL career.

He'd be third on my list, after Colin Kaepernick (if he's released) and Robert Griffin III, in terms of the intriguing free agent quarterback list. But I'd certainly be open to it. Regardless of adding a free agent quarterback we still need to draft a quarterback with pick #22 in the first round.
 
Jackson's hiring appears to mean the end of quarterback Johnny Manziel in Cleveland. A source close to the situation told ESPN Giants reporter Dan Graziano that the topic of Manziel was discussed at length in meetings between Jackson and Browns ownership. In those discussions, Jackson indicated he would prefer the organization move on from Manziel if he were to become head coach, and he was told that would not be a problem.

With Jackson as their offensive coordinator, the Bengals had the NFL's sixth-best rushing attack in 2014 and the league's seventh-best scoring offense in 2015. Formational and schematic creativity has been the hallmark of his offense. At times, he had wide receiver Mohamed Sanu throwing passes, including a 14-yard touchdown pass to quarterback Andy Dalton. He regularly lined up extra offensive linemen into heavy sets to get the running game ignited, and sometimes threw to those linemen who were eligible receivers.

I don't know if Pettine was a good coach or not, but how awful it must be to have Johnny forced on you.

Too bad he was in an actual competitive division with some well run organizations...Otherwise he maybe could have overcome the Failure at QB.....Kind of like OB did here....

Johnny Manziel has a career 57.0 completion percentage and a 2-6 record as a starter in the NFL. He's been a huge distraction both inside the Cleveland Browns locker room and away from the football field as well.

Naturally, this is somebody Dallas Cowboys fans are actually clamoring for.

Via USA Today's sports blog, For The Win, an online petition has begun in the form of BringJohnny2Dallas.com. As of this writing, there are already 3,500 online signatures in support of the Cowboys acquiring Manziel from the Browns, and the site is quickly growing.

Predictably, the movement/T-shirt sale appears to be attracting its fair share of loonies. Here's the mission statement:

We need to bring the greatest quarterback to grace God’s country, Texas, back to Texas! Johnny is a quarterback that can bring some spark back to ‘Merica’s Team. The young star hasn’t yet had his chance to shine. As the future leader of the greatest sports franchise in the world, he would get that chance. As true fans, we need to put a star on this man’s helmet and bring him home to the Lone Star State where he belongs. Dallas fans, let’s make Jerry hear our voice by spreading Johnny awareness across our great state!

The greatest quarterback to grace Texas? Wow. Just wow.

A strange development in the NFL in recent years is the groundswell of fan support and enthusiasm for great college quarterbacks who don't necessarily have the skillset to play the position effectively in the pro game. Granted, Manziel wasn't dealt the best hand in landing with Cleveland, but he can't just show up and win games the way he did at Texas A&M. He needs to learn to play from within the pocket and how to stay disciplined on and off the field.

Of course, Eagles fans probably don't get to laugh too hard. The club just went through something similar last summer with Tim Tebow, who had one of the best selling jerseys in the NFL despite failing to make the 53-man roster.

As for the Cowboys going after Manziel should he be made available, it's not out of the realm of possibility. Legend has it the draft card with Manziel's name on it had to be pried out of owner Jerry Jones' hands.

when we had the No1 pick I wonder how much study we did on Johnny and if we ever brought him in for a interview or workouts ..?????

I know there is no chance of him coming to Houston be heck who would of thunk it we could have a chance to get CLowney and JFF just 2 years later

just the thought of the possibility made me sick the first time around......it hasn't done me any favors thinking that there would even be the slightest chance of happening the second time around.

Yeah, it's time for this idiot to just get out of football and find a role on the Jersey Shore or whatever dumb bull **** "reality" tv is going on these days. As one of his biggest fans, in college at least, the dude just continues to burn bridge after bridge. He keeps getting second chances and just blows them every time.
 
What I don't understand is how he was able to control himself during football season in college. He was a nutcase in the offseason, as we all know, but according to insiders at A&M, he was never a problem at practice or before games. He took care of everything he needed to on the field between August and early January. I keep thinking that will translate to the pros but time after time, this fool just keeps acting like he really has no desire to play on Sunday's. He just wants to party, live it up, and at this rate, he'll probably end up dead before he hits 30.

But in college, being the football QB is still a part-time, part-year job.........in the NFL, it better be a year-around job.
