*** Official Battle Red Game Day Thread Patriots @ Texans ***

Mercilus' spin needs to be his signature move. He's got it down, and he's used it successfully two or three times this season.

Man, we could not have chosen a worse QB to start the season with other than Brian Hoyer..
He is an absolute fetid corpse..

Hoyer is just too SLOW both is mobility and recognition. But everyone knows this from last year at Cleveland. Everybody but super QB genius Bill O'Brien. Makes me really nervous when Bill O'Brien puts his future on Mallett and Hoyer.
Again not the players fault. Coaches and upper managements fault

I think 90% of people who've played ball would disagree with you.

That's so much bullshit. Can we have a poll? Hell, I played 8 years as WR and that's the #1 rule. No ifs ands or buts. Zero excuses. You make up for bad QB play by great WR play.

Ask any pro ball player what should happen when you get two hands on the ball. You'll get 100% the same answer. Not 90%. Not even 99%. 100%.

If Hoyer could step up like every other QB in the league does he can avoid some of these sacks. But you know....

In Hoyer's defense, we the RT is a turnstile it makes it hard to see the field. A stop sign would be more effective than Newton. Hell a pothole in the turf would be a better option.

Ok.

that pisses me off talking bad about the quarterback. he is working hard and practicing hard. he can play. just ask obrian.

This has been Clowney's best game as a professional.
I agree and it doesn't make any difference. The mistake was keeping the first pick instead of trading. We needed more than one player when we had 1.1. Clowney is what he is. Not his fault.

Here's a comparative factoid:

In 2013, the 2-14 Texans lost to the Patriots 34-31 after leading much of the game.
That team was coached by Gary Kubiak, and QB'd by Case Keenum.

That year the patriots were substantially healthier than they are this year.

So I ask you, are we headed in the right direction with the current staff and
roster?

Because it sure doesn't look like it to me...
