SO the Texans are in first place in the division....

Is there an Aaron Rogers in this draft?
no and even if there were, Houston would not be able to select him. This goes back to Boomer Esiason, Oilers and the then NFL commissioner. If we can go 9-7 or even 10-6, maybe we should not draft a QB just to say we did. Be patient, select well in draft and free agency and when the right guy seems to be there..go get him. 2016 is the draft where we can get a excellent RB + a starting FS and a decent WR or a very good backup OT. We have two 5 ths to use for depth or trade bait. Who knows maybe we can get another starting 7th rounder like Newton or UDFA like Foster. If I choose to dream, I dream big and hey it has happened before!

Short answer - No! Of course nobody knew Aaron Rodgers was going to be "Aaron Rodgers" when he was drafted either. Which is why he fell in the 1st round. Some think that Goff could be the next "Rodgers" (in talent) but he's not expected to fall from the top 10 and he may choose to go back to school.
if he returns to school, itll be a damn shame. CAL STINKS

Rodgers was got with the 24th pick in the draft. Flacco with the 18th. Bridgewater with the 32nd.

Trading up outside the top ten should not be out of the question. Really, if the QB position is that important, we should be willing to trade all the way up to 1-1 regardless the cost.

Kind of a funny assertion in an Aaron Rodgers discussion since he was drafted coming off 10-6.

Some of you draftniks are funny. Nobody is worthwhile below the top 5 (until you get to Rd 4+), even a lot of guys ranked top 5 aren't worth being in the top 5, can't trade into the top 5 - so you have to wait for decades to find just the right combo of suck and value

Bottom line, it's all a crap shoot! And that goes for all positions but especially QB! The closest QB's I've seen to a "sure thing" are probably Manning and Luck, and I'm sure plenty people (scouts, coaches, GM's, fans, etc...) had doubts about both. Having said that, the odds are still in your favor finding a QB that will be good early in the 1st round (Luck, Manning, Newton, Marriota, Winston) rather than later in the 1st (Rodgers, Flacco, Roethlisberger, Bridgewater), or later in the draft (Wilson, Brady). Not saying it can't be done, just saying the odds are longer of finding "that guy." At this point in time, with the Texans in position to take the division or wildcard, it looks like they will have to go with the longer odds on a QB. My guess right now is Hackenburg or maybe Wentz in the late 1st if they go QB. Then let them sit for a year behind Hoyer/Yates and learn. The wildcard in all of this is Savage who has become the "forgotten man." Hopefully he will get his chance next season. Either way it's still all a crap shoot, but the Texans still have to keep looking and keep trying!

My comments were to be taken in the "no matter where we draft a Rodgers type QB would not be there". That's why I included Boomer and the commish basically awarding him to Bengals rather than Oilers. Where in the world did you get that I think nobody is worthwhile below top 5?

Which is total hindsight or he wouldn't have fallen to 24.

From a compilation of watching your posts and several of the other draftniks for over a decade. Everyone other than an Andrew Luck becomes Christian Ponder or Blaine Gabbert. Then the next tier guys, Brees, Kaep, Wilson, etc. all become "no separation" so there is better value in Hasnoshot from Western Hehaspotential U. who can be had in the 5th.

It's pattern and practice.

If I'm going to hold O'Brien accountable for the team's performances at Atlanta and Miami, I'd say it's fair to give him credit for the turnaround. While the Saints are not of the same record as the Bengals and Jets, keeping that offense out of the endzone entirely is something that just doesn't happen. There is still plenty to be skeptical about with O'Brien but in the meantime he's done a hell of a job over the last month, and I'll be the first to praise him for it.

To close out the season it looks like both the Colts and Texans have one really tough game. Steelers for the Colts, Pats for us.

Other than that it is looking like it will be all about Texans @ Colts for the playoff spot.

The Bills won't be a pushover.

Our next three games are crucial, seeing as how the Falcons and the Buccs totally whiffed on giving us a hand.

How awesome will it be to go into Indy and win the division? If the Texans can beat Buffalo and then do the unthinkable, beat Tom in his house in December, that is what will happen.

I saw the post game with Hoyer, he said we feed off the defense and they feed off us...................BAHAHAHA you are a funny one Hoyer.

@ Buffalo
New England
@ Indianapolis
@ Tennessee
Jacksonville

We need to win 3 of those. Tennessee and Jacksonville are both very winnable. The others will be tough. The Buffalo and Indy games are crucial because we are fighting both of those teams for playoff spots. Beating those teams is a huge swing in our favor.

maybe but I saw Watt and Wilfork pretty pleased with offense and some other defensive guys shouting loudly on sidelines. Why make a deal of it? Just let it ride...:breakdance:

It will ride regardless of what I say, I also see the D pumped up after an offensive 3 and out, a Texans turn over and after OBs victory speech.

I believe Patriots/Texans will be a flex game it's moved from Sunday Afternoon to Sunday Night

If we beat Buffalo you might be right. The only other game I could see being flexed there is Pit@Cincy. Seattle at Baltimore is the Sunday night game I'm sure nbc will flex outta that.

We just got flexed

He'll yeah this day just got better, Prime time baby. I hope the Pats are still undefeated by that time. So we can hand them their first loss, and show the league they should fear the texans.

I hope your right but the last few prime time games against the Pats were ugly and the Texans looked like a HS jr varsity playing against the college champs

Go ahead and let them lose and bring a Packers-esque skid to our game.

last time the packers were on a skid and came here to Houston Rodgers said R E L A X and then torched the Texans

yeah last time we played the patriots it was pretty close game 31 to 34

I think keenum played that game ..?????

Uggggh, I won't get home till well after mid-night and I have bloody jury duty the next morning.

Loss to Buffalo really hurts. Dropped from #6 to #9 in playoff seeding. Luckily Indy kept pace with us and got blown out by Pittsburgh.

1. Cincinnati (10-2)
2. Denver (10-2)
3. New England (10-2)
4. Indianapolis (6-6)
5. Kansas City (7-5)
6. NY Jets (7-5)

7. Pittsburgh (7-5)
8. Buffalo (6-6)
9. Houston (6-6)

We're back in 1st!!!! Can we just play the Colts before Luck gets back?

Btw, was not a concern until the Texans defense's showing today.

I've believed all along we would have to beat Indy in Indy for the division title to make the playoffs and take care of Tennessee and Jax. Buffalo and NE are icing so the loss to Buffalo, which might have been more likely, is not as serious. NE is a statement game for NE more than us as well. A win would be nice, but a loss isn't devastating like a loss in Indy would be.

I don't know if that image is going to show up. But I dabbled a bit with ESPN's play off simulator. Using offensive ranking & giving Tennessee the win over KC in week 14 I got the Bills, KC, & us at 9-7...... according to them, we're in as the sixth seed.

Isn't that two different ranking opinions two minutes apart? Which is it? We lose to PATs and win out and does not matter what Colts do or strength of victory for both after 6 layers?
