Andrew Luck out 2 - 6 weeks

As far as Andrew Luck the person goes "I'm sorry this happened and I wish him a speedy recovery". I've got nothing at all against Andrew Luck. As far as the Indianapolis Colts as a football team in our division are concerned though "Good. **** you assholes. Hope you lose the next 3-5 games by a wide margin. You ******* deserve it".

That's how I (still) feel about them after the BS leg whip they put on Fitz last year to break his leg and keep us from finally beating them in Indy. I wouldn't piss in Pagano's mouth of his throat was on fire.

But get well soon Andrew. Take care of yourself dude. That's some serious stuff right there.
 
I really, REALLY don't want to win this division @ 7-9 and have my ticket prices raised due to "winning the division", despite our EPIC collapses. The thought makes me want to hurl.

I really don't care about your ticket prices. I want the Texans to win the division and get into the playoffs. All you losers that are rooting for them to lose are just that, losers. This board is depressing sometimes when the Texans aren't very good.

Perhaps you misunderstand. I never stop rooting for the Texans.

That doesn't mean that I want Uncle Bob bending me over for the half-ass product they put on the field this year if they happen to win the worst division in football with a losing record.

Certainly you aren't laboring under the misconception that ticket prices won't go up just because we don't make the playoffs.

Given the track record, they won't go up with a losing record. I'd hate to see an exception this time around due to making the playoffs with one.

Who am I kidding though? Anyone think this team will go 4-4 down the stretch?

The rest of the Colts' schedule is fairly cream puff - only Pittsburgh and Atlanta have winning records. Pretty sure they'll end with a winning record.

I think you're right now that I look at their schedule. I could see 5 or more wins out of those 8 games, especially if they play like they did last week against the Broncos.

When you tear an abdominal muscle (one that is typically considered strong and normally quite protective of the kidney) in addition to a kidney laceration, you are talking about a very significant trauma. It's usually pretty difficult to miss the diagnosis, unless you consider red urine normal, or microscopic blood found on routine urinalysis which will always be performed on trauma in that area. Though the Colts have not truly characterized the full extent of the kidney laceration, unless it is quite superficial (2-6 weeks being possible, with 6 weeks probably still being more reasonable) I would not be surprised if Luck missed 8 weeks or possibly more with such an injury. They will be following his healing progress with CT scan (and possibly ultrasounds and/or IVP) exams, as well as serum BUNs and creatinines. Most surgeons would not allow return to contact sports until well after proof of healing by these image studies, although there may be other factors that come in to play such as continued microscopic blood in the urine, late urine leakage into the tissues or compromised kidney function.

Have a little faith in the ineptitude of the Texans franchise!! This team isn't winning the division if the Colts lose all remaining games. In every iteration of every scenario this franchise knows how to screw the pooch.
 
I found additional more recent comments re. Luck's injury.

He finished 5-for-7 for 64 yards and that touchdown pass after the hit that lacerated his kidney.

But after Luck arrived at the team facility Monday “feeling a little worse,” according to coach Chuck Pagano, the team sent him to get further tests. The results revealed the lacerated kidney and partially torn abdomen. Surgery is not expected, though the team did not rule it out.

A timetable for Luck’s return, at this point, is hard to gauge.

“I’ve got to just lean on the docs and the trainers as far as that goes,” Pagano said. "It’s really early. It’s probably too early to forecast which end of that. Obviously sooner than later would be great, but again, it’s too early to try to say, ‘Hey, it’s going to be this or that.’ So we’ll just keep evaluating him on a weekly basis and see how he progresses.”

“Certainly we will not put Andrew back out there again until he’s 100 percent healthy,” Pagano added.

As surgery has not been ruled out, Luck must be dealing with at least a grade III laceration with minimal urine extravasation, with his doctors hoping that it will stop and surgery does not become necessary. Grade III lacerations can usually be treated nonsurgically, as long as there is not significant extravasation or continuing minimal extravasation, or an expanding hematoma (blood pocket created by continued bleeding).

The scale classifies injuries as contusion (grade I), hematoma (grade I or II), laceration without extravasation of urine (grade II or III), laceration with extravasation of urine, or vascular injury without avulsion of the hilum (grade IV), and shattered or fractured kidney or vascular injury with hilar avulsion (grade V)

By the time we play the Colts again, I'm betting that Hoyer is injured and TJ Yates is leading us to defeat in Lucas Oil Stadium. Because that just makes too much sense.

We are going to win the division at 6-10, and OB will get an extension.

And the Patriots will put up no less than 40 on us.

How much would it suck to see them lose out and get a better draft position than the Texans? And still beat the Texans twice while doing it?
 
With the report of Luck's kidney laceration being accompanied by an abdominal muscle tear, something came to mind. Luck was violently hit first from the front, then from the back. This causes great amount of acute intra-abdominal pressure, like squeezing a balloon and watching it expand around your hand. This type of trauma can cause muscular tears in the back region (still considered part of the abdominal wall) overlying the kidney.......this is what can classically occur with a sudden deceleration seat belt injury. This type of musculo-fascial disruption in the back results in what is called a lumbar hernia (see pic below). It is associated with 30% injuries to intra-abdominal organs, including the kidneys which are directly underlying this area. A weakness in this area if not repaired early, will pretty progress over days, weeks or months to a sizable defect/bulge which mandates repair. This may also be another reason, besides the kidney laceration, that has left some question as to the potential need for surgery.

I think for the Colts to get Matt Hasselbeck(sp?) as their back up was probably the smartest thing they've done since drafting Luck. My only question about him, is if he can hold up for the duration of a season. 10 games... 12 games....

But with 8 games to go, I've got no doubt he can play at a high level & if anyone thinks this opens anything up for us or Tennessee to win the division... nah. I think this sews it up for the Colts.
 
I don't know. He did look good but he doesn't get to play the Texans every week for the rest of the season. I mean granted, Jags and Titans aren't far off the mark but still. We were horrific against him earlier. That wasn't all him. A lot of that was how completely awful we were against him.

Well, unlike Trent Dilfer, Hasselbeck did lead a team to the Super Bowl. & it wasn't a team stacked with Marshawn Lynch & the Legion of Boom either. Dude's a gamer. His stats weren't ever great, but his biggest problem has been health.

I'm not putting him in the HOF or anything, but he can "easily" win this division with the Colts.

That was a damn decade ago and that guy no longer exists. He's closer to the guy we saw in Tennessee the last time he was starter for a team. I'm gonna say that this team falls apart at the seams in the coming weeks and loses 3 of the next 4 as teams start gearing up to get after his slow immobile ass.
 
It doesn't matter much with the Dolts. They seem to do almost as well with backups as with starters. It's called COACHING. I hate the Colts but admit they always have better coaches than the Texans have ever had. With the possible exception of Wally Lem, no good head coach has ever played for a Houston professional football team.
The Clots once beat us with Orlovsky. I just hope Luck is out for the full 6 weeks so that Houston doesn't have to face him in Lucas Oil stadium.

I challenge that assertion. Sid Gillman, without a doubt, and arguably Bum Phillips were great, not just good.
 
Luck is a tremendous young QB, but this may finally break him of taking off down field when he can't find an open receiver, or maybe the Colts will discontinue those desinged running plays for Luck ?
