I see new seasons as a new start, new beginnings, wipe the slate clean.

While some of us wallow in the past and mired in a .423 closed box, others see the season as one of infinite possibilities.

Tbo the middle of the road teams like the cheifs and Texans are so hard to predict on how there season will go they could either be the new elite and shoot for 12 wins or they can just be middle of the road and shoot for seven eight or 9 wins

Either way the goal for every team is,to shoot for 10 wins and IMO all the teams in the AFC are capable of getting 10 wins

You don't know that is McNair's mentality. On one hand we'll bash him for spending too much money on Schaub. Then on the other we say he doesn't want to invest in the QB position. Maybe we just don't lile where he has decided to invest in the QB position.

Are you upset we didn't get Peyton? I can understand that, though I didn't want to take the chance at the time.

Are you upset we didn't draft Colin Kaepernick? Geno Smith? Bridgewater? Garopolo? All of the above?

I can understand that as well. But, what if we did draft them, or get Manning, then what? It's not like any of them have won a Super Bowl. Other than Manning & Cap, have even had a winning season. So what you say? They'd have done better here?

But our GM sucks. Kubiak sucks.

So there's no reason to believe we'd have done any better than any of them. As far as the Broncos & 9ers go... they didn't win. Might as well have tanked & got a high draft pick. Right?

What you don't seem to understand is poo-flinging monkeys have a much better understanding of reality, history, basic fundamentals, general logic, deductive reasoning and get it right 100% more often than you. But don't let that stop you.

Between this thread and a handful of others it seems to me anyone with a negative outlook on the team/our chances has been outcast.

Funny to see that and then compare it to this board after a regular season loss. A lot of the people pissed to hear doubts will soon be calling for change after a loss.

It's almost as if people aren't capable of thinking hoyer sucks and STILL rooting for the team to win? I dunno, just seems petty. I say that believing we're a 9-7 team again. T minus18 hours.

That's because many people feel that to accomplish something , you have to believe you have a chance . That's the 1st step so screw it I'm buckled in and ready for the ride . Around Christmas or New Years we'll know our fate .

I haven't done a poll, but my feeling is most people feel we're not going to the play offs this year. Most of the responses I can remember in this thread thinks the OP is overly optimistic. O don't see how we will win 7 games was my first response.

The schedule is easy enough, & they're saying Foster may not miss more than three games. I just have no faith in Hoyer and O'Brien.

Maybe texansfight's initial post was worded in a way you didnt like?

He's not a fan of cuts, smith, recent drafts, our ol, our running game, and our qb. Based on everything I saw in preseason I have a lot of the same concerns. Maybe it's a matter of presentation? 7-9 at best is clearly an arguable position...but damn...the concerns look valid to me even if you don't like the messanger.

I have concerns too. I'm hoping they surprise me.

I think I have problems with people that can't have 2 way communication and fall back on the same rhetoric in every conversation.

I also will never give up before the games are played!

That's why I watch football, for the excitement and hope.

I love the fall!

The only thing I don't like, is like DBCooper said, is how they say it. They come in herewith their abrasive attitudes, yelling at us (practically) as if there's anything we can do about it.

We've got a dude here now, that's looking to get in a fight with all the Hoyer fans. But there ain't no Hoyer fans.

Just like there aren't any Rick Smith fans. However, if you tell one of them their argument doesn't hold water... all of a sudden, you're a Rick Smith fan.

& what really bakes my noodle, are the ones who tell me how stupid I am for buying season tickets. One, in particular, more or less blames me for all the Texans' woes, because I'm not willing to throw away my PSL.

We've got a punchers chance in every game except the Patriots. That's the only elite team on our schedule.

Doesn't mean we'll win them all, check, I can't imagine being favorites in more than a couple of them, but they all should be very entertaining.
 
Just sad so many here share the same concerns but are so divided based on delivery or personal reasons. Sometimes people want to argue i suppose.
 
I could share plenty of concerns with someone, but at the point where they finish their thought with a Jerry McGuire rallying cry for my team to suck I'm gonna feel rather differently.

Finally!!!....a fan that lives in reality (are we the only 2)..You ( & myself) are just being real & objective.....and every time a fan post some realities about the Texans, the Hoyer cry babies start whining & screaming "Your not a real fan!!!"......there are sensible adult "FANS" that live in reality and see things for what they are "this season"......and then there are "Fanatical Fans" that believe in fairy tales & unicorns and when a "sane" fan says anything that burst their fantasy world they whine & stomp their feet....Grow Up

Well, your gonna need a whole LOT of that luck this season...Rank the teams that are better than Texans? That would require to much typing...Texans 9 & 7 this yr "best" case scenario....How we get the QB we want? We fire Rick Smith and draft one...like all the other playoff teams do ....duh...Could someone please explain how the draft works to Rick Smith.....but if your talking about this season right now...we already have a bigger, more talented, stronger arm quarterback than Hoyer will ever be...(just take the time to really review Hoyers career in the NFL and you'll understand)

Re read my post....I blame Rick Smith for not drafting a QB with all the chances he's had in all the yrs he's been here....The starting QB pick is on Obrien

I think if you were inside the discussions you'd find who's brought in is on OB and how much they get paid is on Smith. Don't think Smith had the authority to force Bortles on OB (or pass in him if OB wanted him) for example.

Rick Smith is Obriens boss... He can draft whoever he wants to draft....Obrien ( nor any other coach) tells Rick Smith what to do....he has the authority to draft any player he believes will help the team....If your a manager where you work, do the people you manage tell you what to do or do you tell them what to do....I was self employed for over 30 yrs & I always ask my employees for their input and listened....but the decision was mine....and they had to accept it or go work somewhere else....that's how all businesses work
