Texans VS Cowgirls...Let's Predict ;)

Almost caught up. Tillman right. I would try emergency QB. Probably best Savage hurt now because his replacement should be better than him no matter who it is.

EZ - Can't catch a cold... can run fast to the spot where the ball should be, clueless what to do at that point.

Our RB's couldn't find a hole in a doughnut.

I hope the Cowboys cut some of their third string line, and any of their running backs.

Really makes me wonder about Bill O'Brien evaluation of talent especially in regards to QBs. He probably gets rid of 53, EZ, and 95 based on QB decisions.

The first pass Mallett threw to EZ, was it a good throw that EZ dropped? I am watching on my laptop and I couldn't tell.

Man I am pumped up ready to watch our defense this season. Thinking about watching the offense makes me sad though. :wadepalm:

When Savage after his injury grabbed in pain, he grabbed right where the clavicle meets the shoulder (the AC joint)......not the shoulder, and not the mid clavicular area where most clavicular fractures occur.

Quick CnD, give us the worst possible scenario so we can freak out!

Pulverized fractures of the shoulder and clavicle with punctured lung...................proposed return to play by team's historic standards.........at minimum, 1-2 days.......at most, 1-2 weeks................

So if Hoyer gets hurt we now have to rely on a disgruntled Mallett?
With Keenum in St. Louis it's once again "Thad time"

Or maybe we get lucky and Cassel gets released..

BoB loves him some Pats cast-offs!

It's funny reading this thread and seeing the love for Malena because he was on our Practice Squad last year. We waived him after the draft to make room for Hilliard on the 90.

I only watched the first half, but a few guys really stood out to me (I include previous games for this assessment). Covington and Ballentine aren't quite ready yet, but I don't know that I'd risk them clearing waivers, they can play and can contribute as early as this season. Covington looks like a rookie, and that's the only knock I've got - he gets redirected, can get too high, lets blockers into his chest. Bad things, but minor versions of each that will iron out quickly with experience at the pro level. Ballentine's further behind, but he is flashing something that only Seattle's really harnessed in Kam, that big 'safetybacker' who is able to make a mess on each play. Be it blitz, read-HB, TE coverage or underneath zone he's looked really good - outside of some poor tackling attributes.

Pagan and Nix I'd be more willing to risk as practice squad cuts if needed, 2nd year guys who still appear to have a lot to learn. Strong doesn't look like he gets it, a receiver with bad hands can't also run lazy routes just because he's not the first read - not sure if I'd hold a practice squad position open. Andre Johnson has hard hands, but he works more than anyone else to make up for it. Mumphery should have a spot, he's a fighter - works hard blocking, strong cuts in his routes and a real focus catching the ball. James is getting a lot of attention because of Hard Knocks, but I call him the same as Mumphery - a fighter. He's not the biggest or the most natural, but damned if he's not putting everything on the field and doing so smartly (doing his job) ... give me 53 guys like that.

IMO Grimes will start, with Polk 2nd and Hilliard 3rd until Foster returns.

Yeah, to bad Hilliard sucks. I do like how Polk runs though, good balance and has a passion/attitude about him that I like.

So the rationale for not playing Grimes last night was that he was the starter, and the rationale for not starting Blue was that he would be cut?

Wow dude it is early i don't know how i forgot Blue was even on the Roster haha. Guess that means he doesn't impress me at all. Well that changes things hmmm

Grimes
Blue
Polk
Hilliard to PS

Someone will get released once Foster returns

I know O'Brien really likes Polk, but I don't see him being a success. As a runner he's great - strong, fast and can make people miss. As a runningback in the NFL he is extremely lacking - poor blocker, very wooden in his check/release, tends to run up his blockers (poor vision), and isn't a big gain threat unless it's gift-wrapped.

My guess is we're going to get a chance to find out if you're right. I'm thinking Polk makes the final 53 (barring waiver wire pickups that might displace him), and they try to sneak Hilliard through to the practice squad (which I think they'll be able to do). Polk doesn't last on the roster any longer than it takes for Arian to be game ready, but the question is will that be closer to game 4 or game 9 (and we should get a big clue towards that answer in the next couple of days).

I'm in total agreement Champ. He'll make the squad, and likely get some carries the first couple weeks. I'm not sure that he deserves it, but with Foster out Polk is on par with Grimes as a backup with experience, and someone worth having in your pocket, especially in a heavy set. In Polk's defense, he's gotten some pretty bad blocking this preseason, but even without the benefit of endzone cameras his inability to read blocks is almost impressive. Amazing runner, terrible runningback.

He's been infected with an alien that will pop out of his rib cage
Hey I got an idea of making your scenario into a movie! Probably only get one movie out of it even if we could get Sigourney Weaver to star in it. She'd probably turn it down though. I did hear she is considering another film about a giant tree and some blue people. That is just so stupid cause no one would watch that.

Nix hasn't played a whole lot.

He hasn't looked dominant but I don't think he's been bad. I've been watching him specifically on defense. He's mostly been in on first and second....every other series or so...

Also I'm confused why everyone wants to keep worthy? I haven't seen him do anything really.
Crossing Pattern for a TD? Speed? KR/PR?

That was a little play that almost any end of the roster we could run. It wasn't a crossing patter. He snuck behind the OLine and got lost in the shuffle. We did the same thing with David Anderson when lil shanny was Calling plays.

It's nice he has speed but it's not like he's been breaking them for huge gains or TDs.

Don't get me wrong. I'm neither an advocate nor an opponent. Just offering possible reasons he may have a shot at the roster.
