Hard Knocks: Houston Texans 2015

Watched the part about the QB sneak again. At least for that call it looked like OB was out of the loop. He's like wtf to Mallett who turns around to Godsey and says I was doing what you said and then OB said something like don't care fix it. So Godsey call thru a comm link that didn't include OB.

I thought they said Mallett got the call wrong. He ran what he thought he heard. Didn't make sense to him, but he ran it anyway.

Either way, it was a mark against Mallett to me. Especially with OB saying if it didn't look like it made sense, don't do it. As if he should have taken a time out there.

I doubt I'll watch it again, to try to get it straight, but if it was Godsey's call & Mallett thinking they're trying to look at something, it probably shouldn't be a demerit. But in my mind, it still is.

My only problem with the Man Bag is that it insinuates being European makes it OK. If men want to carry purses, then just get over the history and admit it is a PURSE that you're MAN ENOUGH to carry.
If it were Derek Newton or Jared Crick, it would bother me. Given that it's a WR, I kind of view it as a positive. Punter's probably the o
But only the ones that weren't primadonnas returned...

DUH DUH DUHN

The Hills Have Primadonnas.
You're food poisoning appears to have either completely cleared up, or advanced to the point of causing bouts of complete dementia. Not sure which.

From what I saw, the HK announcer said it was his fault.

But then Mallett told Godsey, "I just ran what you told me to." And Godsey seemed to agree with him.

I think that got communicated to OB, but OB was all... "I don't care. If it's stupid, don't do it."

I think that regardless of how it came about, it's not a mark against Mallett. It was a learning experience for a guy who's started two real NFL games, and never gone into a training camp as the presumed starter. Next time (if there is a next time), it will be a mark against Mallett.

When Mallett looked at Godsey and said it was his call Godsey nodded in acknowledgment. Clearly OB thought he should have opted out in some fashion anyway. I would assume OB corrected it with a 'yeah we want you to run the plays called but if something is that stupid do something - time out, different play, etc.' and doesn't hold it much if any against him.

This "guy" also has one:

Not sure what to think about Godsey. In that episode, every time OB asked for his opinion, he was totally non committal and didn't provide any substance, like when when they were deciding on whether to go on 7th and 1. Plus the confusion with the sneak on 3rd and 3.

Biggest issue to me is why is Godsey calling plays if he thinks running a sneak on 3rd & 4 is a good idea. I thought it might be a test to see if Mallett would audible but O'Brien seemed completely out of the loop on that so it would seem he just decided to call a sneak on 3rd & 4.

Godsey didn't, nobody would. Either Godsey misspoke or mumbled or the transmission got garbled or Mallett misunderstood the play call. Report was Mal "heard the wrong play".

O'Brien told him, even if he thinks that's the call he wants him to check us out of it since it doesn't make sense. Stuff like this is what preseason is for.

Sneaking my gangly 6'7" QB is a

he doesn't get Schaubbed, imo.

I said this a few days ago on this board and was told that was not the case.

Listening to Spencer Tillman extol the virtues of a 3rd and 4 QB sneak play call is also what preseason's for.#howbrownistillmansnose

That's one hell of a drive if he ended up at 7th and 1. :stirpot:

Not sure what report he is referencing. I may have been the one who said that was not the case. IMO from the clip on HK Mallett says to Godsey 'I ran what you called' (or something close) and Godsey nodded his headed in acknowledgment. TPN seems to have seen it the same way from his post above. Godsey clearly did not disagree with Mallett's statement and it would have been only natural if Godsey called something else.

It wasn't just you. When I saw it live on game day I thought Mallett audibled. When I saw it on HK I thought he misinterpreted the play call. You actually made a compelling argument the other day about it being Godsey from his lack of argument with Mallett about it. Nobody will know the real story unless O'Brien comes out and tells it (which he won't do).

Regardless, I don't really care what happened. That kind of crap is the stuff that needs to get ironed out in preseason anyway. If Mallett is to start this year then I'm glad something like that happened in week 2 preseason so they can get it right in week 2 real season.

I saw what you saw as well. To me it wasn't on Mallet. He executed the poorly called play. Afterwards O'Brien told him to not run stupid plays even if they're called.

I agree. Learning experience for everyone involved.

I have an aunt and uncle who showed miniature schnauzers for 20 years (60s-70s). Their dogs weren't primadonnas.

Weird combination of hobbies - desert motorcycle racing and showing schnauzers. The dogs went with them to the desert.

Since the time code does not work. FF to 1:53

Hard Knocks Producer: Bill, we're here to make good television, you need to make your decision so we can put in on the show
BOB: But....
Hard Knocks Producer: Bill, you said it yourself, your franchise sucks, no one cares, and everyone thinks, both your QBs suck. We have two minutes fill on the show, do it.
BOB: Yes boss.
