2015 NFL Draft

Why did we trade up for this guy??? He would have been there at 51 or maybe even in the 3rd round.

Obviously they thought not... 3 other LB's gone since then so they may have been right

Anyone else notice run on ILB position once Texans traded up for McKinney?

LB, that's what I mentioned on other thread. Remember when we drafted DJ? That year, prior to our pick, there were LB run and we missed out drafting LB worth taking in the 2nd rd.

I'd like an "offensive guru" HC to show more stones in his selection of QB than to wait around for a proven success (with minimal tools).

as usual another short sighted post. Which QB should he have "STONED UP" and taken and what QB is he waiting around for with minimal tools? I told you OB wanted to win with defense and a strong running game and it looks like I was right. Love the strategy and the first pick, hate the second pick.

You can criticize the picks so far, but the Texans have been the ones starting the runs on CBs in round 1 and LBs in round 2. They at least got to pick the ones they wanted out of the group. Now, it depends if the scouting dept and coaches got it right but that's another matter.

How do you figure that?

Hoot! Defense was great last season while offense was mediocre. Yet our 1st 2 picks are on defense. Undue influence from the DC? Bordering on blackmail? Did he threaten to retire?

What did it cost us to trade up?

Very true and solid point.

Fair enough, however they could have also chosen to address offensive side with more impact, so ....... not sure they deserve passing grade?

What is with Jaelen Strong's slide down the boards? I'm somewhat surprised. I thought he was a late 1st rounder, and now he's slipping like crazy.

he started off the draft process with a lot of hype, but he lost steam as others trains started up. I don't think he'll last till our next pick though

No short sighted is wasting years of time waiting to build a complete O until you have a "proven" QB.

I'm not criticizing him not drafting a QB or who he has brought in with in this comment. He's made his QB moves - step up behind one of them and act like he's the man until proven otherwise. Have the self-confidence he's made the right decision.

I told you OB wanted to win with defense and a strong running game and it looks like I was right.

That's what you want and you're projecting. He hasn't even built the strong running game, that's entirely on the prior regime.

I think it really boils down to this: Texans identity is their defense & they want to polish it off. They really haven't established an offensive identity, mostly because of QB position. So guess when they find their Andrew Luck they'll be content to defend or defer the kickoff.

The strategy is sound :swatter:

Cincinnati panicked in the 1st round and made a terrible pick. They ended up getting a better OT at 53 than they got at 21.

Mary Kay Cabot @MaryKayCabot
Devante Parker's mom to Miami Herald on CLE: “They don’t have a team, really, or a quarterback. I knew I didn’t want the Cleveland Browns.''

Obviously he doesn't feel like he has a complete answer at QB or he would build the team around one of the QB's he's brought in. Just becasue he brought them in doesn't mean he is 100% happy and believes they can be the next franchise guy.

It's easy to project when all the facts keep lining up to support it. So sense he didn't build the strong running attack he shouldn't rely on it until he finds his QB?????? Sorry but you are making about as much sense as Seegara.

Their first round pick will be better than peat. Fisher is a project. He needs to get stronger and more physical. Until then he won't be starting.

I must be hearing things. I swear I heard the announcers say Abdulla would be a good complement to Peterson. Did I miss something? Did Peterson get traded to the Lions?

To each their own.

I think Peat will be an All Pro. Just needs some more seasoning.

Ogbuehi is all potential. Dude is living off the reputation of the two A&M linemen who went before him. None of his tape looks that good. And he's coming off injury. He's the project of the three.

Fisher needs to toughen up but he's already solid in pass pro.

They did say it but they misspoke. You didn't miss any ground breaking news!

Mayock mis-spoke. He thought it was Minnesota's pick. He corrected himself

My bad I was thinking they tool Donavin Smith with their first. Yes Ogbuehi is terrible.

Fisher absolutely dominated Eddie Goldman AND Mario Edwards in the Rose Bowl. That told me all I needed to know about his toughness.

I agree about Ogbuehi. He is an absolute specimen with prototypical size and freakishly long arms, but he really struggled in pass pro when he moved to LT.

Off the top of my head im hoping Tyler Lockett, Chris Conley, or Tevin Coleman will available when we pick in the 3rd

I think the Cowboys are going to regret that pick. It's a shame teams have to provide a baby sitter to adults.

I hope it works out and he takes full advantage of such a great opportunity. I wouldn't be surprised if Jerry has kept David Wells on retainer.
