Texans 2015 Schedule

The Texans announced their four-game preseason schedule Thursday afternoon, with a visit from their former coach highlighting the slate.

Houston’s four exhibition games will be against San Francisco and Denver at NRG Stadium before closing with road contests at New Orleans and Dallas.

The New Orleans game, which is slated for Aug. 30 at 3 p.m., is the only one with a date set right now. The times for the other games will be announced later in the offseason.

The Texans have played San Francisco in two of the past three preseasons, with a 2-1 record.

The Texans’ game against Denver will mark a reunion with former head coach Gary Kubiak, who was hired by the Broncos in the offseason and brought numerous former assistants with him as well as ex-players Owen Daniels and Antonio Smith. The teams have played six times in preseason play, with the Broncos winning four times.

The preseason game at New Orleans will be the eighth between the franchises, with the Saints leading the series 4-3.

The Texans, who lost in overtime at Dallas last year, will play the Cowboys for the eighth time in the preseason. Houston has won four of the meetings.

The San Francisco, Denver and Dallas games will be telecast on KTRK (Ch. 13), with the New Orleans game broadcast nationally on Fox.

any word on regular season announcement

The schedule release has always been a week or two before the draft, so I'd say any time between now and the 23rd.

Release dates in the past:
'14 - 4/23
'13 - 4/18
'12 - 4/17
'11 - 4/19
'10 - 4/20
'09 - 4/14
'08 - 4/15
'07 - 4/11
'06 - 4/6
'05 - 4/13

That's as far back as I have records for.

I think our team is solid enough to say we can beat anybody in the NFL on any givin sunday ...... :kitten:

So basically, the NFL took half of the teams we played in the 2013 preseason, and half of the teams we played in the 2014 preseason, and made this schedule. Very creative. :kitten:

Could be wrong but I think it's the teams themselves that come up with who they play in the pre-season. I seem to recall the Texans having a multi-year deal to play Tampa Bay every pre-season, and they did for the 1st 9 years of their existence.

Oh ok, didn't know that.

I would just play NFC teams only that are closer geographically. So that would add Tampa Bay & probably Atlanta or Carolina. But I can see replacing them since we're playing the NFC South this year

NFL schedule release show tomorrow

8pm est on NFL Network.

Lawd... a TV show for the schedule??
I guess since it's the NFL Network that makes a little sense.

why can't they just post the damned thing on line and let it go at that?

That's right. It's all about the advertising dollars. I will hear about it later. Not like I do not know who they are playing already anyway. I do not get all the hype.

Because they're going to get more folks watching them than the NBA playoffs will get.

In other words, it's not them - it's us! (Well, us in the overall context - I'll be watching something else).

I won't be watching it either

I bet the schedule is posted well before the show starts. It's not going to be a surprise to anyone. The show is just for the guys/gals who are into it that much that they'll watch a show based on the NFL schedule.

We'll be talking about the schedule that morning.

That would have been this morning. Seen anything yet? :kitten:

Eh, I quit watching schedule shows a couple years ago. Once NFLN started airing games they began focusing more on those rather than the overall schedule.

Plus, I think the whole "schedule release" thing is overrated. We already know who we're playing. Unless you're going to be making traveling arrangements, who cares?

Self promotion and more dollars. The NFL will do anything to make more dollars, including bribing legislators to keep their non-profit status.

I would like to open on the road at Indy. That would make the season-opener hugely important and a very challenging game for us that we could point to all summer.

The NFL does it like that because somebody watches. Much like we complain about the high prices of concessions or high prices of tickets, the lines and stadiums are always full. Same thing here. Enough people are watching so the NFL will make a big deal about it.

Personally, I don't recall ever watching a schedule release show and I won't tonight either. The schedule will be released online as soon as the show starts anyway. Why sit there and watch a bunch of talking heads blab about match-ups that are months away for 3 hours? Especially since we've known the match-ups for years now. Unless they change the formula that they've had since the Texans inception, the Texans will be playing the Seahawks, Steelers, Browns, Ravens, Bengals, Cardinals, Rams and 49ers in 2017. We'll have the Patriots, Eagles and Cowboys on the schedule in 2018.

I love football, but I don't need it so bad that I'll sit through a 3 hour schedule show. Especially when you know the Texans will get about 3 1/2 minutes on their schedule, 2 1/2 hours in to it.

I just wanted to post in the 2015 schedule thread to say I won't be watching the schedule release show.

Unless I do.

And if I do, I won't be watching any of the commercials.

Unless the cute AT&T girl come on. Because I won't be a victim of the NFL promotion scheme. Other than the 12 hours of draft coverage I'll be watching next week.

I am DVR'ing it, for the commercials

Rest assured, I'm keeping an eye on this thread and on the Texans website for the schedule. But there is no way in hell I would sit through that program. Which I can't anyway because I don't have cable.

So, I'm just going to sit here and bi*ch about something I can't have which I don't want.

:)

Schedule release is important. I like to see what games are when so I'll know when I'll have to leave work a bit earlier to make it home, or what conflicts there are with anything else. This year I'll have a wedding I'm a part of in mid November so I'm hoping that the Texans might have a Monday night game or a Sunday night game so that I don't have to miss the game if it's at 10am Sunday because I'm hungover or haven't made it home yet since the wedding will be at a hotel. And of course there's bachelor party crap the month before so I have to make sure I'm all clear for that as well. Ugh. Here's hoping for a favorable breakdown.

Leaks

According to these leaks, if the Texans open at home, it's pretty much been narrowed down to Indy or J-ville. I doubt it would be the Saints since we play them in week 3 of the pre-season.

but you don't need a 3-hour extravaganza to coordinate dates that are 5, 6, 7 months into the future do you?

I would think a 15-20 minute look at a schedule on a website would give you what you need for planning purposes.

I really wish they'd go to 2ET or 1CT starts so I don't miss the first quarter. I don't know if that was changed, but I don't remember it being a problem when I was a kid. Maybe that was because my teams used to play the second game or maybe the preachers wrapped it up early for the early starts.

No, of course not. The schedule's leaked out on Twitter beforehand anyway.

The 2nd biggest event on the NFL calendar is a middle aged man reading names off a 3 by 5 card, 3 hours for announcing the schedule seems in correct alignment.

In more important news, the Texans have new twins (or twin twins)...
