Ryan Fitzpatrick visiting Texans (signs)

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say "Yes. Yes you are".

But the graphic did prompt a question... if that rod IS actually being driven down the center of his leg bone, what happens to the marrow in that bone?? Where is it being displaced?

It's only 9mm so I'm going to assume it's like a nail in wood

But if it's 9mm it was likely someone planning on 15 tries to get it right. :kitten:

I see what you did right there

:heh:

Am I the only one that thinks this is funny as hell? With all the technology we have available to us today, is using a hammer to drive a steel rod into his leg the best we can come up with? Who thought to do this the first time? Were the doctors sitting around drinking shots of tequila when one of them spies a hammer & says "I have an idea"? Maybe I should be a little more sympathetic, but this is just too funny to me. :D

Look more like a Mallett to me.

That would be better than the stupid Texas Hammer crap. The self-professed Texas Hammer is 5'4" and hasn't competed personally for 30 years.

In Austin, I've realized that I can use dog whistles to identify who in present company is also from Houston. One is "Slime in the ice machine." Another is "Tough, smart lawyer."

9 mm x 330 mm = 3/8-inch x 12.991 inch long
That's one helluva "nail"

Edit:
Well, at least that explains the need for the mallet

Look more like a Mallett to me.
that is just Savage and I ain't being no Clown(ey). Better a Mallett than using a Pickett fence stick or a slender Reed I suppose. To keep the patient from ending up Blue, the doctor should wash all Grimes and Graham cracker crumbs from his Brown hands. I could do this for Weeks if I did not get a Jones for some White wine or get a Crick in my neck or a Dent in my butt from sitting too long. It will be Pleasant to see a game Sunday that does not make me Swear and Rolle around on the floor yelling "throw it to Johnson, Keenum before Fitz gets Randy and wants back on the field." As a Marine I say BOUYE! :wild:

I ain't no Pagan

I give! I give!!
Just make it STOP!!

His deal was for two years, so I don't know if we cut him in the offseason if we lose money or save money or whatever. With Savage unexpectedly getting hurt, Mallet as the starter and Fitz as the backup in 2015 looks like a real possibility.

They gave Fitz a $1.2M signing bonus, so if we cut him, there will be $625K dead money. He's got a $3.2M salary, so that would come off the books. All together, there'd be an additional $2.6M in cap space.

Savage's injury isn't going to keep him from OTAs... in fact, Fitzpatrick's injury will keep him out longer than Tom.

Fitzpatrick's place on this team was as placeholder. I still don't believe he gives us more of a chance to win than the next guy. He was on his way out of the league when we found him.

I think Mallett & Savage give us just as much a chance to win as Fitz & there's untapped potential there that might work out well towards the Texans' future. I'd add another guy with prototypical size, a strong arm, from a major program in a major conference to the roster... someone like Bryce Petty with his "success" at Baylor would be nice.

From here on out, we need to be looking for our QB of the future. Fitz... done served his purpose.

Sometimes I feel like I'm typing in Thai.

Sorry, my Mandarin's a bit rusty.

We'll gain cap space if we were to cut Fitzpatrick.

So far, it looks like Fitzpatrick has a long road to recovery ahead of him.

On his way out of the league...Again, a very simplistic assessment. Fitzpatrick took a talent deficient Titans team and made them far more competitive last season than they are this season. Many of his numbers this year are in the top half of the league and had either Mallett or Savage posted a 95.3 quarterback (and 107 over final six starts with 13 TD's and 2 INT's), you'd be doing backflips and proclaiming them the QB of the future. Fitz also posted a winning record on a team that was 2-14 last season. His record may have been even more impressive had the team not imploded versus Pitt and Indy. Furthermore, outside of Watt, the defense was far from dominant over the first half of the season. Fitz is FAR AND AWAY better than the garbage I have seen behind center in NY (Jets), Cleveland, and Tennessee, and if those guys are still being trotted out there on Sundays next season, then Fitz certainly deserves a starting spot in this league. Finally, while Mallett showed some promise, one start of 211 yds 2TD/1 INT is not enough to make a decisive decision. If he is the better QB, let him beat out Fitz in training camp. And if you're ready to turn the team over to Tom Savage for an entire season, be prepared to watch this team seriously regress. To say Savage gives the Texans as much of a chance to win at this point in his career as Fitz (or even Mallett, for that matter) is rather absurd and a claim that is based on zero evidence.

If it makes you feel better I hope boyfriend turns the Jets around.

I feel comfortable with Hoyer and Mallet and a QB to be named later going into pre-season. I think it'd be cool if they kept Savage. Look's like Keenum is gone though, unless he can really show something in camp.

Keenum won't be at camp. He's an ERFA. Meaning we have exclusive rights to him, but unless we re-sign him, he won't be on the roster.

Sounds like OB doesn't care for Fitzy. No big deal, nor do I. Makes sense to pick up Hoyer as an FA then get something back in a trade for Fitz.

I don't think he doesn't care for him, just doing what is right for the team. I agree with whoever said it last season: I could see Fitz becoming an assistant under BOB when he retires

Yeah, I meant as a QB, I'm sure he's a lovely bloke and a good potential coach.
