Zach Mettenberger has been named the starting QB this week vs. Houston.
Jayson Braddock @JaysonBraddock
Needs to tighten up accuracy. Slightly throws too far, behind, high or low, way too often. Turns into INTs...will be magnified as a pro.
Lacks mobility &/or great pocket mobility. Struggles rolling out & throwing to his left. These are hit or miss even inside of 10 yards.
Unexplainable inaccuracies on quick slants that arise from nowhere. Lacks pocket awareness. Takes unnecessary sacks.
Mettenberger Negatives: Doesn't show up big in big moments. Makes crucial mistakes that lead to unfavorable outcomes.
Sees the blueprint of closing windows & fits in to tight windows. Throws w/ touch & velocity. Controlled touch in redzone.
Ability to progress thru reads & scan partial to full field. Tremendous growth from 2012 to 2013. Offense held him back, could be better pro
Comfortable w/ back to defense. Good ball location on on sideline routes from 20-45 yds. Puts on outside shoulder & gives WR a shot.
Can make all the throws. Great w/ throws outside the numbers w/ anticipation. Ran tons of play-action & reps from under center.
I labeled him a Matt Schaub with a much better arm. Great size & frame.
Ok, I promise I'm tapping out after this, but for the late night crowd here are my draft notes on Zach Mettenberger....
One guy's opinion pre-draft, fwiw.
