I think it's important to note that this is how I personally rate and value the prospects, not where I think the consensus rates them or in what order I think they will get drafted.

With Bah007's permission. :tiphat:

I marvel at how good Hroniss Grasu was out of the gate. I think Chip would select him in the 1st. If he is there when Texans pick I would jump for joy if O'Brian pounded the table for him to mentor with Myers in union with a real franchise QB.

College Football can be crazy but I am hoping that Michigan State puts the smack down on Ohio State.

They struggled with a Penn State team that lost to MICHIGAN. Granted, playing in Death Valley at night can really influence a game, but with them heading to East Lansing where it's going to be loud, i'm not sure how OSU can keep up.

I am looking at Oregon's Tony Washington to see if he can play ILB. Also, Dhaquille Williams for a low round WR although I prefer Tony Lippett.

thanks, your focus?

I'll start with Baylor and try to figure out why Bryce Petty has digressed so far this year vs last year.

I'm always intrigued with Auburn. Think Gus Malzhan may be smartest coach in college and think he has a future as an NFL coach. Gus and Jimbo are my top college coaches for an NFL job.

Boykin has been flying under the radar this year. This week Gil Brandt compared him to Russell Wilson. Boykin is a Jr. I'll be studying Boykin today.

LSU has some young studs on D and I like the way Jennings throws the ball.

and of course I will be checking in on Cook and Mariota.

He's not scrambling as effectively as years before (most likely because of back injury) and is forced to play from the pocket more. He's already not a very accurate passer and is not effective against pressure. Teams are starting to send more blitzes and asking Petty to beat them deep in the face of pressure because they know his mobility is now limited.

Staying in the pocket more is meaning that he faces more pressure now and the results have not been good. With limited mobility his completion percentage in down 7%. We saw the same thing with RG3 when he played with limited mobility in the pros. His completion percentage was down 6% in his 2nd year.

You can see the flaws in the QB's who run these offenses when you take away their legs. They are used to getting out of the pocket and extending plays and waiting for someone to get wide open. Which will happen because it's almost impossible to cover 5 WR's for more than 5 seconds while a QB is taunting you with a scramble.

Take the legs away and make them stay in the pocket and the effectiveness drops dramatically. LSU did this against Manziel to great effect. You have to be able to win in the pocket to make it in the NFL. We're seeing a lot of these spread QB's just don't have the ability to do so because they never developed it. They relied on their dual threat ability all through college.

I agree with your assessment of Manziel and LSU. Missou also did the same to Manziel and why I wouldn't have drafted him. As for Petty besides taking his legs away when he is in the pocket his ball placement and accuracy is terrible.

The silver lining here is Goodley stats and performance have dropped, not because of Goodley but because of Petty, As a result Goodley could see his stock drop and be the steal of the draft (3rd RD).

Yes they are and add in his inability to consistently react to pressure and I don't see what the hype is about. All I hear about is his deep balls but honestly they aren't all that accurate. He completes those by volume because Baylor throws so many of them. Those aren't hard to complete when your WR's are open by yards every time they go deep.

He looks like Blaine Gabbert to me.

Do we know what exactly his back injury is? Wondering how it'll impact his draft stock.

Transverse process fracture. Sounds bad, but it's the same thing Romo got the other week and is attempting to play through now.

You'd have to ask Doc for the specifics but as far as I know the injury heals on it's own. You just have to fight the pain if you want to play.

and then all of sudden Petty is playing like it's 2013.

It helps when the defense is giving you 10 yard cushions on every snap. He completed 16 passes in a row and I think 4 of them went over 5 yards. That 50 yarder to Coleman was a 5 yard hitch where he broke the tackle and there was nobody else there to corral him.

Oklahoma is putting on a clinic for how not to defend this offense. You get in their face, pressure the QB, and force them to win battles. If they beat you deep they beat you deep. You don't give them 5 yard passes all day long and let them just work you down the field.

Also, Baylor been avoiding Sanchez all day and are just picking apart Wilson. Coleman is tearing him apart (220 yards and it's still 3rd quarter).

Yeah I can't take anything away from Petty today. He did his job and helped his team engineer a blowout.

But Wolverine is right. His stats look awesome, but he didn't really do anything. OU has no clue what they are doing on defense. There was a play earlier in the game where the CBs were 12 yards off the line on a 4th and 4. That play kind of illustrates what has happened all day. They are so afraid of maybe giving up 75 yards on one play that they are just forfeiting 10 yards on every single play.

Credit to Petty and Baylor's offense for taking what's there. But as far as projection to the next level Petty didn't show anything today, good or bad.

I'm going to disagree with y'all a little bit. You just don't go in to Norman OK and put a whippin on the Sooners. Not many teams can do that. I have been one of Petty's biggest critics most of this year but today he looked the best I've seen him all year. I don't disagree that he was throwing a lot of 5 yd slants and bubble screens. However that is not the knock that used to be. 5 yard slants and bubble screens are more of the norm today both in college and the pros.

I'm watching real football now, SEC SEC SEC. :)

Easily his best game of the year but I just didn't see much to get excited about. Every completion was one that should be made by a competent QB. Oklahoma didn't make him work for anything and they got up 14-3 early and then totally backed off on defense after getting beat deep once. They were playing 10 yards off on 4th & 2 and 4th & 4.

HAHAHAHA team of destiny my ass.

Poetic justice. They started their "destiny" with a blown horsecollar against Johnny and the Ags last year. Now it comes to a crashing halt with the Ags and a fumble.

Good ****ing riddance for booing our injured players.

I was really hoping LSU would beat Alabama simply because I wanted TCU in the top 4 in the polls.

Alabama still has to play Miss State and Auburn. I think they lose one of those.

TCU should easily win out so as long as KState beats Baylor they will be in the playoff. I have a feeling that Baylor gets the nod if both teams win out by virtue of head to head despite TCU looking like the superior team.

I'm still not seeing any "wow" QBs. Any old school big pocket passers hiding in the weeds?

The closest thing you have a pocket passer is Shane Carden. Not sure he meets your definition of "BIG". Standing toe to toe, Shane Carden would be looking eyeball to eyeball with Bret Farve, Aaron Rodgers, Matthew Stafford and Steve Young.
