Philadelphia Eagles @ Houston Texans. 11/2. Noon. FOX. **Official Battle Red Thread**

If Arian is done for the season, I can't see our offence scoring again this year.

Lets just make sure everyone that's important is healthy for the next season. Don't care anymore about wins, Rockets play on Monday.

I want them to win sure, but if they don't it's just meh and move on.

Fitzshitz sucks. If OB doesn't make a change at QB during the bye week it's going to be a long season not to mention another losing one.

Sent from the future...

fitz just doesn't gives you inspiration to win. he cost us this game. i cant understand how people defend his play. "he wasn't the problem today!" . Perhaps he doesn't make plays that will lose you games right away but his inability to throw the ball past 5 yrds loses us the game, the whole game.

ugh, frustrating. tired of see him throw the ball in the ground 5yrds before hops, or constantly scramble and have lots of time only to get sacked or rush for 6 yards.

we need a change.

Don't blame the injuries, the backup secondary played admirably.

Our glorious front 7 couldn't stop the damned run to save their lives.
That includes the new fatboy in the middle..

I agree, the backup secondary playes about as well as you could hope from them.

The Eagles ran all over this team. Watt needs help, the guys we are paying big money to help him in Cushing and Clowney are both hurt.

485 total yards for the Eagles with 30 first downs.
300 total yards for the #Texans with 15 first downs.

AdamWexlerCSN ‏@awexler
#Texans allow Eagles 480+ yds of offense. 3rd time in last 5 games, HOU has allowed 450+ yards. 3rd time in 4 games they've allowed 30+ pts

It sucks to have to say this, but I feel the same way right now. Football season is already over for me.

If bill keeps trotting out shitzpatrick and foster is out for significant time.I will have my sundays freed up. Plus lower blood pressure

The truly sad thing is that Keenum's numbers after 8 games
were very similar to StinkyPetes(tm) -- except he didn't turn the
ball over as much.

That wouldn't bother me at all, if (Spandau)Mallett turned out to
be a plausible option...

But, the reality of the situation is that we will never find out whether
he is worth a crap or not, because Bo(o)B will never put him on the
field.

We will give up a 7th round pick for a guy that will enter free agency
next year without having played a down.

We will have given up an extremely cheap backup (Keenum)

And we will be no better off by the end of the season..

Starting to feel like our low-budget backup (Case) was let go simply
because he wasn't an "Obrien guy" -- like a bunch of our players
and former staff

Mark Sanchez: 15-22, 202 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT, 89.6
Ryan Fitzpatrick: 13-27, 203, 2 TD, INT, 82.8

Well our team is not good enough to win with a game manager.

Too many guys have gotten worse since last season.

I will point out that I was highly upset with that hands to the face call on Boyue. These calls let the Refs stay in control a little too much for my liking because that play had nothing to do with the play and was questionable at best. It was a literal tap to the facemask that could have been accidental.

I would never have wasted the 1.1 on one player unless there was an Andrew Luck type player available. You don't waste the 1.1 on one player when you have so many needs and there is no sure thing out there. Clowney was FARRRRR from a sure thing. You trade and get 3 players this year and maybe a high next year to rebuild. Major mistake made

I could see Clowney as a bust and at best a Mario.

Easy to say, but you have to have a trade partner..

Clowney won't be able to touch Mario. Compared to Mario Clowney has no motor. Maybe one of those motors that power tropical fish tank pumps. Maybe.

It was a mistake to pick him. When you come to a team at 1.1 and have one tackle for the year after the 9th game you're a mistake.

Bill made already KNOW Mallet is worthless. I agree totally with last statement. I think could have been let go so we couldn't say put Case in because we KNOW he is better than Fitz. Avoid controversy.

If he knows Mallet is worthless (or had to reacquire him to learn that) then Bill O'Brien was the biggest HC hiring mistake Bob McNair ever made. Biggest he may ever make.

Trying to be nice to Clown. I agreed with you before we drafted him. This is why we need a new GM. We also kept Mario the last year and had to blow up the team because of that.

If you're staring at a guy like Clowney then I suggest you get comfortable with the idea of drafting a Jake Matthews or taking less than value for the pick.

Hell, I wanted Ferguson in '06 and Watkins this year. I'm fine with that concept.

Yep build something that you can run the ball and not rely on a game manager.

I admit I liked getting a defensive player to help watt out but seems all it is is helping watt get into and out of the hot tub after the game

OBrien "We have to look at everything, including quarterback" when asked if he'd consider changing QBs looking for "spark" during bye.

Would spark me up...

Time for something not Fitz... He's shown us what he can do, and what he can't do. Lets give Mallett the same opportunity :)

RAC is a myth at this point like Wade was. He's just a guy living on his resume. Whatever passes for his system is done. Again the Texans are trotting out yesterdays NFL and expecting positive results from it.

Wonder what kind of offense Namath ran back in the day? Reckon Fitz could master it in a year or two and light the league on fire?

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Texans seem to be trotting out yesterdays NFL systems

Wasn't O'Brien supposed to be some tight end guru or some ****?

I'd take Kubiak's offensive structure over O'Brien's any day. ANY day.

Yeah our offensive line sucks and Fitzpatrick sucks but holy crap, that should mean we actually utilize our backs and tight ends in the passing game. How many times have we utilized one of our damn tight ends?

I feel like we were sold a bill of goods.

Meh, we'll see. I refuse to call someone a bust this early in their career.

As for trading down I think that's overrated, everyone ALWAYS wants to trade down because the thought is that you get more than one player and a better chance to hit but really you also run the risk of missing players you could have picked that could have helped. Also, not many teams are interested in trading up for the #1 pick. If Luck was available then the team with the #1 pick wouldn't trade down in the first place.

We were.

Worst thing I see personally is a lack of hope at the QB position, and in this league if you have no qb you have no chance. No chance, no hope.

Some years that's true, you do run the risk of missing a player but seriously, look at the last 10-12 drafts. If there's a player you would never want to miss out on it's common knowledge. Nobody expected the Colts to trade down from Luck. Nobody expected the Panthers to trade down from Cam Newton but Eric Fisher? Jadeveon Clowney? People talked constantly about trading down from those guys. When there's risk everybody sees the risk.

We should have traded down for whatever deal we could have gotten and been happy about not having this talented man-child on our team. Rick has been good at getting guys who have measurables but he sucks at finding football players. Clowney is another guy who is a physical freak but who can't play when he has a "booboo" or a sniffle. Those guys are not uncommon and they're worthless at this level.

Clowney's new nickname should be "Vernon Gholston" because he's going to be about that useful to us.

As for BOB I feel like he's doing about as good a job as he can with this cast of players.

Fitzpatrick is a horrible QB, it's amazing when he gets time in the pocket you guys realize nothing good happens from it? He just sort of panics and then usually takes a sack.

This team is 4-5 right now, it's not bad but it isn't good but it is about what everyone expected...even with the team fully healthy and it hasn't been.

I'm just saying I'm far from given up on this coaching staff. The team has some positives that if they can carry over into next year and replace key positions then they could look into being a much better team.

Time to give Mallett an opportunity. Fitz can't handle the offense.

You know, he really can't. For all the talk we got about how smart that guy is and how quickly he could learn a system he looks like **** in it. The guy really does have a Case Keenum "trying to figure it out in 2013 on the fly" look to him. He looks terrible in this system. Now granted he looks terrible in every system but what in the world could OB have been thinking when he tabbed this guy to soak up the details and lead us into the 2014 campaign?

If we see this you know the guys in the locker room see this. Who is stupid enough to think those guys are going to follow Fitz? Other than OB?

jeez can you imagine if we had picked up watkins and bridgewater.

hopkins,watkins,andre, foster

Mack or Watkins were the ones I wanted us to pick overall with the #1 and I wanted Bridgewater.
I know it's too soon to say how they will end up, but it seems all three of them are doing pretty good so far.

What I wanna know is, what offense is Fitzpatrick supposed to be figuring out? What exactly are we trying to accomplish?

I see an offense that isn't creative in the least. That's some runs, a random throw to Hopkins coming back to the ball, no tight end usage. I see pointlessness.

Is the offense dumbed down for him? If so, why? He's supposed to be the smart one, right? And Bill O'Brien's supposed to be the guru, right? If so, why isn't Mallett in? Is this just the offense and we have to accept it for what it is?

I legitimately don't get any of it.

Disagree. I think that's a despicable bunch of apologizing for what didn't need to be a wasted season. You put a competent QB on this team and you're looking at anywhere from 5-4 to 7-2.

Take that **** somewhere else. This season was wasted when OB put a career loser in charge and expected the rest of the roster to follow that man into a season... and then be successful. I can't believe O'Brien brought him in and thought something good would come of it.

Yeah but when there is a guy worthy of being the #1 pick no team is trading down for them, and no one has proof that htere was anything better to be had from trading down. You say to take the deal no matter what, even if it meant trading out of the top 10?

Any ways I think if Clowney could just stay on the field he'd be more than fine. So many of you were raving and salivating at his preseason play so why give up on him already.

What QB though? Going into this season our best option at QB was to draft a rookie QB. There wasn't any good FA QBs to be had, our best hope was to draft Bridgewater and hope for the best. The team made a long term decision in the draft to not do so. So I'm not judging a long term decision on short term results.

Clowney could STILL pan out and we could still find our QB for the future and things could still turn around.
