Jamies Winston Qb Florida State

It doesn't matter how big or small the things are if they just keep happening over and over.

This guy is a walking red flag. If someone uses a first round pick on him they should be fired.

I think he might be the next Ryan Leaf. Guy with a great arm and good football ability who produced in college and wasn't drafted high based on potential. However, couldn't grasp the mental side of the game or control his emotions or life off the field.

I think his draft stock might tumble at some point with the way the NFL is about to start attacking these off the field issues. This isn't weed that he's getting in trouble for. It's alleged rape, stealing, profanity laced rants in public, destroying property, etc.

This dude is on a downward spiral and Florida State seems content to let it ride out if it gets them another national title.

I saw this earlier, didn't think much of it. Couldn't care less. Then on the way home I heard the guys on the radio talk about it & when he tried to describe what was said, it was kinda awkward, didn't make sense. Says it was something made popular recently, yadda, yadda, yadda..... curiosity got the better of me.

So I got home, did the google thing.... I just don't get it.

Florida St might be in big trouble over all this Winston stuff. Head Coach has been reluctant to discipline him at all. The administration had to step in and order the half game, and only bumped it up to a full game due to public pressure.

The fans appear to be mad at the administration instead of Winston and coach Fisher.

Fisher is mad at the administration for going over his head.

The administration is mad at Fisher for sitting on his hands and letting Winston get in trouble time and time again without saying one word to him about it.

Increased suspension is apparently due to Winston lying to school officials about the circumstances of the event. It seems his original story was that he was just crossing the student union and yelled it. However, multiple eyewitnesses state that he jumped on a nearby table, drew attention to himself, and then yelled the phrase across the yard. Such a stupid thing to do and even stupider to lie about it when so many people witnessed it.

There is also some smoke about the Title IX investigation causing problems for the AD.

I think I'm just about done with Winston. Dude has some talent on the field but is constantly in trouble or involved in some kind of drama off of it. He also comes off as a complete moron in interviews.

I hopped off that wagon long ago. I can't see this guy having any chance at all in the NFL.

I can see him being successful in the NFL, but I wouldn't want my team being the one to spend a premiere pick on him to find out. Not right now.

Clemson's coach absolutely pissed down his leg the entire 2nd half. Dear God that was pathetic. Dude just gave a free clinic on national TV on how to blow a big game. Here's how pathetic this was....

Clemson has the ball on the 2-inch line in a tie game. 3 plays later they miss a 41-yard FG. Figure that **** out.

I get the feeling Winston is the next JaMarcus Russell or VY, lots of physical talent but no brains. A guy that will be over drafted by someone and then out of the NFL within 3 yrs.. Even if we are QB hungry, I wouldn't touch him.

I watched the game tonight and kept finding myself wanting FSU to lose ... because I just cant root for this guy.

The fact that Clemson gave the damn game away several times really sucked.

This guy doesn't deserve to play in the NFL ....

What do you think of Ej Manuel? How do you believe Winston Compares to Manuel?

What do you think of Ej Manuel? How do you believe Winston Compares to Manuel?

Manuel - Strong character, prototype body, struggles to read defenses, little football awareness.

Winston - Poor character, dumb as a rock, prototype body, excellent player, high football awareness.

Every Nole I have spoken to is embarrassed by Winston, some want him off the team. I wouldn't be upset if he was removed from the team, because I don't think the guy is going to change. He clearly is either extremely stupid, thinks he is above the rules, or both. He's an excellent college leader on the football field, terrible leader off of it.

I can't believe he actually dressed for the game and went out for warm-ups. How did the FSU staff miss that? Fisher was beside himself when he saw him on the field in full gear. Winston looked confused as if there was nothing wrong with it. Seriously, what was going through the kid's mind with that decision? The stupidity just keeps mounting with him.

This latest thing was dumb by Winston, but I don't think this doesn't outrage me.

He's immature...maybe not that bright...maybe a really bad guy that may have raped a girl. He stole some crab legs. Can't stay out of the spot light for negative activity.

At this point I wouldn't touch him in the draft, but I wouldn't put him in the Russell category. Maybe his off field stuff will get him, but I think he's a much better player than Russell and much more pationate about football.

Are you guys jumping on the train with me already? I thought I was gonna have to ride this thing out by myself until draft season.

I see this as an example of a person (often an athlete) that believes his perceived worth allows him to do whatever he wants. He apologizes again with seemingly minimal consequences.

Manziel 2.0? except for the prototype body.

I think you're exactly right.

And who could argue with him based on the "punishments" he has received?

Rape, shop lifting, yelling ****** her right in p***y in the middle of a student union meeting. But for me it's mainly the rape.
He gets away with most of his serious crimes. It's a real shame. This kid should probably be learning his lesson in a jail cell for a couple of years. I cringe every time I see him playing on the football field. Wondering what he's going to do next off the field. I would lose respect for Bob McNair and the Texans if they ever drafted a scumbag like him. I don't care how talented he is (was once believed to be the first overall pick - will likely fall to round three or four now), or how much we need a franchise quarterback. This kid is not a good human being at this point in his life. He has a lot of maturing to do. Luckily for him people still give him several chances to clean up his life and portray a better image for himself. I'm all about giving a second chance but not a third, fourth, fifth or sixth chance. At some point the red flags become too much of a problem.

I don't think I could cheer for the Texans if Winston was drafted. I can tolerate the losing and bad decisions, I can't tolerate a rapist.

I don't know how the steeler fans put up with their QB.

I'm in agreement .... Do Not Want.

The problem with forgiveness happens when it is not preceded by repentance. It can be made available, but it is not functional without repentance as a condition. This holds true in both faith and practical application. The problem is not a willingness to forgive, it is a lack of repentance.

What has Big Ben been charged with? Much less convicted of?

Judgemental No?

Only if you belive those 2 women's stories. Obviously the police didn't believe them. He had a policeman/bodyguard standing outside the bathroom in question. What more do you want?

The girl was wearing a sexually explicit T-Shirt etc.... I will go with LEO on this one and would be glad to have Ben as my QB. The Texans would be SB contenders with Ben and a healthy Clowney. IMHO

Oh OK Big Ben had his body guard verify Ben wasn't in the wrong. She was wearing an explicit shirt? So she was asking for it? You are not one of those guys are you? No still means no.

I don't care about being a superbowl contender if it means rapist trash as my QB.

But me and you will agree to disagree before this ends up in the NSZ.

Documents: Police, FSU hampered Jameis Winston investigation
Florida State University officials and Tallahassee police took steps to both hide, and then hinder, the criminal investigation into a rape allegation against the school's Hesiman-trophy winning quarterback Jameis Winston last fall, a FOX Sports investigation has found.

The upshot: University administrators and Winston’s attorney, Tim Jansen, had a head start on the state attorney in Tallahassee responsible for investigating and prosecuting serious crimes. Florida State administrators, for instance, had all the police reports at least four days before State Attorney Willie Meggs was handed the case.

After learning in December of 2013 that no charges would be filed, FOX Sports examined thousands of pages of documents — including law enforcement files, e-mails and other correspondence as well as video and audio interviews conducted by detectives and other records — through a series of requests filed with multiple agencies under Florida's public records laws.

Among the findings:
• The university's police chief obtained original police reports as well as supplemental reports from Tallahassee police on Nov. 8, 2013, at least four days before the case was turned over to Meggs, the local prosecutor responsible for investigating serious crimes and filing criminal charges.
• The university's police chief forwarded the reports to a high-ranking administrator in the Florida State athletic department, and within days they ultimately wound up in the hands of Winston's defense attorney — also before Meggs was notified of the case and launched his own investigation.
• Two critical witnesses — Florida State football players who said they were present the morning of the alleged assault — discussed the case with Winston's lawyer and ultimately signed affidavits at his behest backing the quarterback's version of the incident. That happened before law enforcement officers tried to talk to them about what they saw and remembered, a dramatic road block in the state attorney's effort to determine whether Winston should be charged with rape.
• That same high-ranking administrator in the athletic department sought information from the university's police chief about a reporter seeking the reports on the allegations against Winston.
• The second-highest ranking officer in the campus police department ran interference with another reporter seeking information about the allegations, terming them a "rumor" that he was glad he could "dispel."
• Both of those police officials were involved in updating Florida State administrators on the case and helping formulate the school's public relations response in the first days after the explosive story became public.

These new revelations come as Florida State is the subject of an ongoing federal investigation into its handling of the rape allegation against Winston in December 2012. After his DNA was matched to genetic material found on the woman’s underwear, his attorney asserted publicly that they’d had a consensual sexual encounter. Investigators from the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights are looking at whether the university’s administrators complied with the requirements of the federal gender-equity law known as Title IX.

Among the things that federal investigators can examine is the conduct of school administrators once they learn of an alleged sexual assault. Title IX requires that colleges and universities receiving federal money conduct prompt investigations into allegations of sexual assault against students if they know about them — or should know about them...

So Winston's lawyer was defending him before he was charged? Seems like procedural more than criminal on anyone's part. Now police could be penalized for "favoritism" maybe?

Kid looked pretty damn good on Saturday ... Just Sayin'

If the Texans end up with a 6-10 or 7-9 record, and are picking around 9 to 15, then hopefully Winston falls that far and they pick him. If it wasn't for his off the field stuff, he would be the first pick. Can't ignore those situations though, but you also can't ignore his play and leadership on the field. He could do great things with the Texans.

I'd cut ties with the team if they drafted that dude.

Just couldn't contribute my $$ nor time to a franchise that would have a player with his baggage on their roster.

I don't expect every player to be a class act or choir boy ..... but there is a line in the sand and Winston crossed it long ago and has continued being a tool since.

Why is it that you guys continually try calling Ben a rapist? He never came close to raping anyone. This is the perfect example of how a horrible allegation can follow someone for years no matter how silly or false it is. Ben was never even charged with a freaking crime. He had some bad press and that was basically it, and people like you are out here still calling him a rapist. It's mind boggling.

I hope the Steelers continue to fall into the abyss and trade Ben to the Texans.

This time hopefully the McNair's/Smith figure out a way to get a deal done.
