Before season began did anyone think we would see posts trying to curb the optimism of others? Let's see it for what it is and be happy with what we have and not try to trip others for their happy thoughts which is slightly better than "sky is falling" we have seen in other seasons.
I don't think anyone want fitz to fail. I want any player on the Texans squad to be successful and I'm sure every other Texans fan would agree with me. But you gotta be realistic. Fitzpatrick is a journey man quarterback that has already shown hes not a franchise qb in his 10 or so seasons in the league. You can't possibly compare him to Russell Wilson man. You just can't. That's silly..
BUT! I do agree with you that he has played extremely well as our game manager. He for sure exceeded my expectations. That throw he made to hopkins for the touchdown in the raiders game was a thing of beauty. Only a couple qbs in this league can pull off a throw like that. I always wanted Schaub to pull off a back shoulder throw like that but hey, he had a noodle arm.
Fitz has struggled most of his career as a pro, but I believe he might have found his special "fit" on the Texans ala Kurt Warner with the Cardinals. He's got the weapons at Wideout and he has an all pro running back in Arian Foster. Our O line has kept him healthy so far and not put too much pressure on him. I believe our O line will be a key point to Fitz's success because I've seen Fitzpatrick throw some ugly interceptions when he's under pressure in the past. All we need him to do is be smart with the football and keep making accurate passes whenever he gets the chance. Other than that we gotta rely on the running game to get us going.
Honestly, at the end of the day, I would be happy with Fitzpatrick as long as he keeps his INT numbers under 15 at the end of the season.
until they get that 3rd win and put last year behind them, I am waiting...
...a 76 yard TD strike to DeAndre Hopkins?
That was one play in two games where the safety bit hard (on a really good fake to give due credit) and blew his coverage assignment...Yeah well, Fitzpatrick TOTALLY messed that play up, according to the NFL playbook experts at Texans Talk.

...you're putting your money on that happening repeatedly?
Really?
Okay that's two. And there's the J.J.Watt TE fill-in scoring play (that O.D. used to make a living doing - that's why I wasn't impressed). How about that li'l backshoulder TD against the Raiders?

Funny out of the 4 scenarios I laid out you only addressed that one.
What happens if by hook or crook we're down 17 - zip or 21 - 3 in the 2nd half.
What have you seen that says we can come back and win. I'm not saying we won't/can't; I just haven't seen us do it yet.
And to be clear, I don't care how it gets done. If we pull off a scoop & score or a pick six or another rabbit out of FitzMagic's hat or some combination of them all. As long as they show the gumption to not quit and keep battling and try and come back.
Didja see Oakland on Sunday? After we got up three scores, some of them looked like they quit. I want to see us do the opposite; bear down and try and come back.

Let's put a fine point on it. Ravens v. Texans. Do you see this team scoring on 5 consecutive drives with two being 99 yd and 95 yd back to back TDs...and let's throw in a 2 pt. conversion?
I don't. As much as folks like to slight what we were, we have to get back there and we ain't there yet.
I agree we had one of the best offenses in the league for a while, to bad we couldn't take advantage of it and win a SB.
as much of a hand kubiak had in putting together really good offenses, he had just as much of a hand in picking 2 dc's who couldn't coach their way put of a wet paper bag. Wasted opportunities.
my bad. I should have made it clear that I wasn't directing that particular comment at you. More toward folks that answered the prior post of mine.Actually, not that funny at all because I was responding to your response and not to your original post at all.
I don't disagree with any of that. And that's why I never responded to your original post.
So far, we've faced two teams. On offense, we've basically followed a very simple formula of run, run, run with an occasional pass. We don't know, yet, if we can really open up the offense and attack a team vertically (which is why I've been hoping Mallett will overtake Fitzy.)
On defense, though, we've followed two pretty different game plans tailored to the teams we were facing. We've given up a ton of yards but been stingy as hell with the points. We've forced a lot of turnovers and ST TDs. I'm not sure how we'll be able to continue to do that.
That's why I cautiously optimistic.
I'm guessing that we won't see Mallet in there for a few weeks

This is where I want the team to consistently be. You know, kinda like the Patriots.Let's put a fine point on it. Ravens v. Texans. Do you see this team scoring on 5 consecutive drives with two being 99 yd and 95 yd back to back TDs...and let's throw in a 2 pt. conversion?

Wade would've been great to have pre lis-franc Schaub injury and Lil' Shanny was here. Those were some good offensive teams. Wade is always good for a couple of seasons, then OC's figure out how he's using his players. He seems really good at being inventive at first, but fails to continue that. He just keeps going to the same old well time after time, well after it's dried up. His defense was just as much a part of '13's problems as the offense.if only wade had been here a few seasons earlier.
The Texans need to get back to where they were in Kubiak's greatest games, then learn to be consistently at that level.Nope the Texans have to be much better than they were under Kubiak.
They're getting there but I'm sure BOB would agree, they have a LONG way to go.
You want optimism here goes. The Texans beat NYG this weekend to go 3-0. Then beat the Bills at home to go 4-0. They sweep the Tacks/Jags that gets them 8 wins. Looking at the rest of the schedule I can see 2 more wins. that gets them to 10 wins which wins the AFC South.
Someone else learned how to keep theTexans beat the Colts twice this season.

Y'all that want to prima donna or otherwise complain about Arian, wanna cut him, better strap down tight and pray for his health. As he goes the Texans go this season.

I'll call AF a prima donna, while being a prima donna myself, and not bat an eyelash. Being a prima donna doesn't mean you're bad at your job.Y'all that want to prima donna or otherwise complain about Arian, wanna cut him, better strap down tight and pray for his health. yall watching this game tonight? our 1st teamers completely dominated Atlanta in preseason.
I want to see the Texans keep winning. If they win ugly, great. If they win on lucky break, great. If they win on turnovers like the first 2 games, great.
The Texans in the past have fought hard in too many games just to see them get the big L at the final score. Happened WAY too many times in years like 2009, 2010 and last year, they play very well, but then find a way before the final score to lose. At this point, I want to see the Texans triumph over their opponents in every game!
End the game with the W, whatever it takes!

I don't know if I've ever seen a team as thoroughly dominated as the Buccs have been tonight.
This is insane.
No particular merit to it but I bet we beat Indy at their home. We never beat them period until Kubiak. I think OB will get a similar moment. Sweep would be great.
I've already called that in another thread and that was before Mathis hurt himself or Jones went out. The Colts weren't that good to begin with and Andrew's Luck has played out.
