Anyone watching the Ravens?

Will be interesting to see if they struggle on offense.

No Ray Rice, but a QB with a superbowl win.

And, of course, Gary..

I thought we were going to let the Thursday Night... thread be the place where we commented on these games....

On the other hand, posting in one all inclusive thursdsy night thread for every game this season is ridiculous. The infatuation with these 100 page megathreads is getting old.

I'm good with either strategy.
Just let's pick one and go with it.

I know there are folks posting in the Thursday Night... thread as we speak. So if you want one thread per Thursday, then lock the previous one down after a week or so
...or when the new Thursday night pre-game begins
whichever makes the most sense

B.ro got crushed.

Defender did lead with his head....

I just...I don't know. Good call I guess. I hope texans players are paying attention. Keep leading with those shoulders.

Gotta give Big Ben his due. He might be an iffy character person, but the guy
can stand in there, take hits, and deliver the ball..

Goddamit. I needed Brown to come through for me, but friggin concussions.
Fantasy second, life first though, I hope he's all right. Head injuries can be scary.

Ravens don't look that predictable to me.

I think it helps Gary to just focus on being an OC instead of
HC/OC..

Interesting to see if the steelers start to come back in
the second half..

That OD touchdown just looked like the Texans running plays in purple though.

Such an odd feeling seeing OD, Jacoby and Forsett running such a Kubiak style offence for another team after all the staleness in Houston.

Not having a gimp at QB might have something to do with that as well.

Well, it was a good run, but defense is dead in the NFL.

Wait theres was a flag there, lets see what the ref has to say about this one.

"Accidental forearm to head, automatic touchdown for the Ravens"

I don't really even see how the crowd can cheer for scoring a touchdown like that.

Steeler fans must be having a conniption because there was no foul called on that hit

Well, at least Le'Veon Bell hasn't been a total waste in my PPR league, but Antonio Brown has been a let down.

However, Justin Tucker coming through for me is cool :koolaid:

Interesting comment from the Ravens board. :kitten:

Re: Game Thread Steelers @ Ravens 9/11
Yay! At least with Kubiak he seems to adjust when **** ain't workin'! Couppe bad drives, but we got through it. In the past when we went bad, we tended to stay bad all game long.

Sigh. Well, at least I got the projected totals out of Antonio in both my PPR and regular leagues. Le'Veon only in PPR and got 18 something out of 22 projected, but that's not a big deal. Justin Tucker came through with 14 in my regular league.

Yawn.

Lots of screens and play action. Typical Kubiak.

I'm sure once teams start to study the tape, it won't be too hard to figure the Ravens offense out.

Seems pretty simple to me. Separate games are separate threads (would be nice if titled to tell apart). Start 85 generic AJ threads, end up with an all encompassing thread but a specific topic like AJ and the HoF stays separate.

To the thread topic LOL at how perceptions are driven by agenda. The resemblance between comments about current v past coaches here and in Baltimore is hilarious.

"The tape" is out there now. All eight years of Texans tendencies and before that, Denver.

Kubiak's thing, as someone else pointed out, is execution. If you have the players to execute the scheme properly, it's a potent offense.

Now, if you had said, "Typical Kubiak; still kicking more FGs than scoring TDs in the redzone" I'd agree with you.

& even though they have it "figured out" the Ravens are still going to be top 5 in scoring.

This was the one play I remember going forward. I have no clue how players on defence are advised by coaches now. They are under so much scrutiny the second they collide with an offensive player, I swear I suspect a flag is coming on almost every play.

The thing about that play was that it seemed like a flag for hitting the QB too hard...Which is basically what I think it was...

You can lead with your head when you are tackling RB's coming down hill at you.

I get the helmet to helmet stuff...Arms to the head area....

But when you put your face mask into a guys chest and wrap, that is what was commonly thought as text book. Not the crown of the head...Not spearing...But looking through your face mask...head up...and putting a hat on your target....

The next thing they are going to outlaw is diving at a QB's legs from behind when they are escaping pressure.

I pretty much lost interest in the game after that and I turned it off...

Defender got no where near the QB's head...he did lead with his own facemask though, but I don't see how that puts the QB in danger...other than it makes him more susceptible to being hit harder...

I didn't see the play. Did the defender come off his feet or drive straight through the tackle?

One has to wonder, I don't because I know, that if a RB had been hit square like that as he caught a pass in the flat and turned to run upfield, would there have been a flag thrown...

I say no. there wouldn't have been

No. The sheer force of the hit, which was technically helmet first into chest, took Ben off his feet. It was that strong a hit.

Forget about trying to separate a wide receiver from a ball with a big hit. That era is over. Not the league we grew up watching.

Watching it live it looked like he just ran straight through him..Based on memory..

Looks clean. I'm gonna guess the ref is going to say he thought there was helmet to helmet contact although I didn't see any. I doubt very seriously he threw the flag thinking "too hard."

They do need to tweak the rule to where a hit which is initially clean but because of movement ends with incidental contact to the QBs helmet shouldn't get flagged, but right now it is supposed to be.
