Texans roster moves

How is it a huge gamble? They traded a 6th round pick for him and it's not like Fitzpatrick or Keenum are any good.

To go all of OTAs and training camp installing a new offense, trying to build some chemistry between your QBs and receivers, and then to trade for your starting QB a week before the opening of the season?

That's a pretty big gamble.

I see your point. I wasn't really assuming Mallett would be the definite starter week 1, though.

They might go with Fitz week 1 just to try to give Mallett time to get situated but... they might decide that Mallett is the guy and trot him out there immediately.

I don't see any chance of them throwing Mallett out there day one. The season starts in a week.

I wonder if the Texans are going to try and extend his contract before the season starts.

So what's that? 4 new players so far?

New Report ! Hope this is a true one.
Texans gave the Patriots a conditional 7th-round pick in 2016 for quarterback Ryan Mallett.

John Mclain tweets :
Is the 6th round pick traded for Ryan mallett the same one that the Raiders traded the Texans for Schaub?

I've seen --

The Mallett Trade, the Case Release
The OT from the Titans
The CB from the Niners
and the PR from the Eagles.

We have to let 3 go at this point.

I suspect Mack will be let go. I was actually surprised he made the final 53. I wonder if Martin will be the WR released? And, since I'm guessing, I'll predict that Yeatman will be released.

I'm expecting Victorian to be let go along with Yeatman and maybe Ronnie Brown.

WR Damaris Johnson was claimed off waivers. He looked good to me.

*edit...I just noticed you were talking about PS

Seems like the best waiver pickup thus far. As receiver, he had nine catches for 90 yards and TD. Had 83 yards on 12 carries with TD as a running back. Averaged 11.6 yards on punt returns. Averaged 22.6 yards on kick-offs.

McClain..... smh

We already used that pick.

The #Texans cut WR Mike Thomas after claiming former #Eagles WR Damaris Johnson, source says.

Well, I have to admit that I didn't see Mike Thomas do anything once the preseason games started but I didn't expect him to get cut.

And I didn't expect Clemons to get cut.

We've still got to cut 1 more to make room for the OT, right?

Great news on both being cut.

No more keeping guys forever and hoping they start performing just because you signed them. Give you a while to get it...if they don't, get lost.

Clemons was in bad shape when he arrived at Texans training camp along with Kendrick Lewis.

KMart is now the starting slot receiver!

I thought about it, and I don't want Danieal Manning back. He's not that good anymore.

I'm in the same boat. He couldn't pick up the Bengals defense and we're not playing the same defense anymore so I wouldn't expect him to come in and pick up ours.

AND... now that we've got our PR, I don't see any need to have him for that, either.

Manning is a better kick returner than anyone on the roster. Wouldn't mind bringing him back for the returns alone.
