Assuming Arian Foster is healthy and ready to go for the season opener. How do you think Grimes and Blue will be used once the season starts?

I think we'll see them sprinkled in. Giving Arian some bench time. Kind of like the previous guy should have done w Foster and Tate.
I expect to see more rotation than we've seen with a "bell-cow" RB in the past... especially as the season moves on.
A lot as Arian will never make a full season with back issues..
You mean like when Tate was just shy of 1000 yds? - oh, that was the previous guy.
I have liked what I have seen from both Grimes and Blue in the preseason. Also Prosch has looked good. If the offensive line gels, I feel we are going to have a good running game this season.
Something that I have been thinking about is the use of our TE's.
I don't think O'Brien has shown yet how they will be utilized fully.
That in itself could change the dynamic of our run game and the short to medium pass game as well.
And then got in the dog house and rarely came in. Yeah, that guy.

I think we may see plenty of 2 TE sets this season.
I think Grimes will be trusted more early to pick up protection, but I expect to see more rotation than we've seen with a "bell-cow" RB in the past... especially as the season moves on.
Just don't put the ball on the ground.![]()
Come to think of it, have we seen any fumbles so far ?
Only in practices by RBs so far, mostly DJ.
What, no love for Ronnie Brown?

I'm not completely sold on Grimes, yet. He shows signs of potential, but he tends to look like he could go down with the first hit many times.
I always thought Kubes limiting Tate's carries because of his fumblitis condition, especially down the stretch. That's what I'm hoping to see.
If one guy (Ben Tate) is obviously having a good game, he should be getting more carries, instead of trusting his gut that the other guy (Arian) is about to break one, & it never happens.
But Brown is a vet who understands protections very well, and may still have some life as a pass catcher to boot. Granted, his running hasn't been that good, but as the 4th guy who could spot start, why not.
I'm not as down on him as you guys are. I'm not sure if he makes it or not, but if the inevitable happens, do you want Grimes and Blue blocking blitzers or Brown who has done it well for years. especially early in the year. Just sayin...
I'm not down on him, if they keep four RB. I just don't expect them to keep four.
Brown is not going to play special teams and he's not going to scare anyone on offense.

Grimes is the new Ryan Moats. Looks good enough some of the time and will do in a pinch but we need to be aiming higher than that. Works as a compliment to a better back.
Grimes won't make the final 53. Why did they bring in Brown??
I like Ryan Moats a good deal, hopefully however Grimes or Blue will destroy my memory of Moats (and I'll throw in Tate as well) creating a excellent running attack that will make up for any other flaws our offense will have this season.
yep & Foster and Blue are better backs. I like Brown for his receiving but with our QBs we need backs who can run and block. We go with 3.Grimes is the new Ryan Moats. They way I see it happening (and how I'd personally do it) is Grimes relieves Arian between the 20s, and then Blue could possibly do it for some red-zone power running packages.
you lose any semblance of rhythm with that much subbing in run situations. there are only so many carries a game, and backs get stronger with each carry. we'll average between 25-30 carries a game, it hurts productivity to have that much swapping. 15 foster and 10 blue, or something similar with a random carry or two for the 3rd stringer is the ideal.
subbing into passing situations however is a way to give a back a breather. that's where brown wins over grimes. grimes's 1-2 carries at most arent going to do anything, while brown subbing on 3rd downs and late game situations will have him on the field relatively often.
I'd still give Arian the extreme majority of the carries, because even with his injury history he's still easily the best playmaker at the position they've got. With that said, I don't see your "rhythm" argument applying here.
It's not crazy to have three RBs have carries in a game. Hell the Patriots have done it on more than just a few occasions with Ridley, Vereen, and Bolden.
Another example would be the 2008 Giants where they had Brandon Jacobs, Derrick Ward, and Ahmad Bradshaw.

Blue has impressed the heck out of me. Imo, he deserves to be the #2 RB behind Arian.
Agree Blue runs with Authority !
