Texans 2014 Training Camp

That article about Foster is a big fat joke. Totally disproportional. It is more of a surprise when you get a good answer to any questions.

The coach wants him to say nothing. The media knows that the coach wants him to say nothing. So he is very much saying nothing. In a haha way. This is all some fictional dance that gets some folks' panties in a wad.

There are some players that everyone loves. And some players that evoke a love or hate response. Ultimately, personalities aside, if you excel or you suck, none of that stuff matters.

Correct. When I heard that JJ was a total a-hole, I was shocked. Then, I kept hearing it again and again. Guess what? The dude's a baller, so, I don't care.

If you don't wear em it's keeps them out of a wad.

Arian is getting a massively raw deal. The guy can't win. When he was out for ONE day of training camp to rest a minor injury, everyone turns against him. Then he comes back, and doesn't "perform" the way the media and fans want him to in interviews, and he's STILL slammed.

I would not necessarily say "turned against him"..........more correctly, CONCERNED.

I need to remind everyone of last year when JJ answered one question at a press conference and stormed off. Everyone was all like, "Wow, he's dedicated! He just wants to WIN!"

The irony is, what no one knows is that JJ is the biggest douche a-hole on the team. He just hides it well.

Arian has come out with some very benign quirky things in the past. But after money in hand, intelligence, maturity and judgement seemed to have been totally lost. And as for JJ, if what you say is true, there is something to be said for keeping it somewhat hidden.

This is what the thread has come to? I want to hear more about Tuggle. Rooting for the guy because Houston sure needs him to step up.

The thing is that nobody really knows these people.

They may have interactions with them. Or hear of interactions with them. Or get rando message board people saying things about them. But very few people know them.

But all these people judge them. As human beings. Based on what they know. Being in the public eye has to blow.

Ummmm...JJ is concerned with just one thing: winning. Everything he does is geared towards it. I would classify JJ as obsessed and fanatical about his job, not a douche or A-hole. He also leads by example.

AF is known for being a bit odd and as an attention seeker, so he's going to naturally get a shorter leash than JJ.

Like CnD said, there's something to be said for hiding it well. I have yet to see a "Arian Foster is a Damn Decent Person" thread or even a cousin to it.

Ok SOOOOO is Arian ok ? Didnt hear about him having to leave because his back was bothering him, other than that dumb article.

I on the other hand thought it was funny that Arian answered all the questions like that.

I think JJ can get away with it because he's a top 3 defensive player in the league . People who are really good have big egos .

Well money changes people, not just certain people BUT all kinds of people. Hell since Arian signed that big contract have we seen Arians mom come back to the board ? No we haven't.

With Reed and Merciless...I'm going to wait and see if this coaching staff has made a difference with them. Merciless needs to become more violent and agressive.

I think Reed just is what he is. I actually like him as a SOLB as long as he doesn't have to cover athletic guys one on one too much. I never wanted to see Merciless and Clowney at OLB. I want Clowney playing weakside DE, and I don't think Merciless can play on the strong side.

Merciless is going to have to step it up, or I can see him just being a special teams guy.

I like Watt and Clowney moving around and seeing Watt playing on the weakside more. It allows him to still do what he does best on this defense. And with Clowney over there with him, both of those guys will have even more space to work with.

If we can get Reed or Merciless or one of the DE's, NT's to provide some good consistent pressure this defense is going to be really good at rushing the passer.

I also like Kareem inside in certain situations. This staff really seems like they are going to do what I begged the old staff to do -- Use players to their strengths. Kareem is a physical guy that excels in short coverage. Moving him inside at times, especially around the goal line or in short yardage situations is going to be really nice IMO.

This defense is going to be tough I believe. Just from the few things I've seen and heard. I can't wait until pre-season to see these guys work. Especially that Falcons week.

I see Mercilus the same way you do.

If Mercilus can become a situational pass rusher (He should be able to do well with all of the attention that JJ and JD are going to command) and Bouye plays well outside then this defense is going to be a force to be reckoned with.

I think JJ can get away with it because he's a top 3 defensive player in the league . People who are really good have big egos .
Look at all the PR JJ does, also. He just seems like a likeable guy, even though he's a complete lunatic about his training and lifestyle.

JJ goes to fan's houses out of the blue. Foster says dumb things to the media while wearing a bow tie.
:swatter:

AND Michael Jordan is a giant Ahole.

Being great doesn't make you nice and ultimately everyone, Arian and Watt included are culitivating their brands.

Football note:

My current camp crush is Travis Labhart. Can't wait to see him in some live action and see if he can take a licking and keep on ticking.

Pseudo intellectual hood rat.

Yeah, man. McNair is just trying to be the best owner he can be, man.

2-14 again, I would say he has alot of improving to do. Tell me more about the franchises current value. It appears that McNair makes his decisions with the bottom line coming 1st and the on the field product coming 2nd or lower.

Horse racing is McNair's 1st love. The Texans are just another business.

She continued posting here, but stopped during the 2013 season when fans devolved into hysterics.

This is what the thread has come to? I want to hear more about Tuggle. Rooting for the guy because Houston sure needs him to step up.

Looks like Tuggle has the inside track to a starting ILB job. If he can become half the player his dad was the BOB will have found himself a player.

I'm just glad BOB is having open competition for positions, giving guys like Tuggle a chance. A welcomed change for the past regime. Where draft status was everything.

smaller quicker guys always look good before the heavy contact...just remember every year fans get excited about some quick guys that look good in shorts early in camp...then the hitting starts and *poof*.

Exactly! Just like that li'l skeeter, T.Y. Hilton. Who could have been a
Texan, from what I hear...:kitten:

Reading that article did nothing, but remind me of a old saying (paraphrasing) "Don't argue (piss off) people who buy their ink by the barrel"

Who ever wrote that sounds like a butt hurt child. Truth is Arian's job is to play football, so I don't really care how he treats the media as long as he's good at his job. I also never once thought he was "thumbing his nose" at me, the fan, so that guy should speak for himself and stop trying to include every outside faction to join him on his soap box.

Gregg Popovich basically does the same exact thing in every single press conference/half time interview that Foster did in this interview and it's cute and funny (I find it hilarious btw). Yet the one time foster does the same thing and doesn't want to deal with the media (and after this offseason I wouldn't either) this guy gets his undies in a bunch. Then to throw a big cherry on top of this guy's asinine article.. He tries to paint Foster as a bad teammate for wanting to get reps and wanting to be out on the field with his teammates. What a joke.. Like he has a clue or any insight on how Foster's teammates feel about him.

That's like 3 times in the last 2 days I heard that Watt is a douche.

Is this just a rumor spread by some chick that Watt rejected or something?

Or maybe it's just a bad moment he had. Everyone has them from time to time.

Spoken by a true celeb who surely knows first hand. I don't even live in H-town and have read you and about you in really glossy publications. And it was all GOOD! :winky:

Well its not like there is a whole lot of competition for the job right now. Who else is even vying for that spot? Tarpinian? Mike Mohammed?

Did you ever know him personally? I'm sure the people who think that don't know him either. Regardless of how right or wrong it is, people with that much notorioty tend to be very guarded for obvious reasons. How would you start treating people if you couldn't even leave your house and have a normal undisturbed experience outside your house without being harrased by people. I would become a total asshole during certain scenarios too.

Some woman on twitter was ranting that Hopkins treated her like dirt in the grocery store the other day. Lmao. We have a team full of douche bags!!!!!!:lol::lol::lol:

This is certainly not on the level of a high caliber NFL player but I kinda know where these guys are coming from. I own an aftermarket HD repair shop. I quit "going into town" on the weekends several years ago. It got to where I couldn't enjoy time with friends without someone (who I usually didn't know well) standing there staring waiting to get a word in. When they did it was inevitably for me to come over to their bike and diagnose their issue(s) flatfooted and tell them the steps to take so they could go home and fix it themselves FOR NOTHING, NOT EVEN TO OFFER TO BUY ME A SODA! Well guess what? I stay home and play with grandkids and whatever else now just waiting on the NFL season to start.

Again, not nearly the same level but I catch their drift.

And yes, NOW I'M AN ASSHOLE!

Go finger.....:slapfight:

The first thing I thought when I heard Arian's comments is what a turd.

But I changed my mind when I heard, he was signing autographs and interacting with fans just before this. When the media gathered around 2 different reporters hit him in the face with their microphones.

Yep. And stardom and $$ and family and wannabe friends corrupt them most. NFL puts on a seminar every year to try and help but most miss the message. that's why most are broke soon after they retire or get injured..

I would probably be like Foster, screwing around on my wife with a hooters girl, writing poetry, telling other people how to live, fixing all of the worlds problems in my own mind, while claiming my undying faithfulness to said wife and my young kids.

Or not.

I really don't care about any of this, Foster to me comes down to can he stay healthy all season and play at a all pro level? I have my doubts on this with his recent injury track record.

This. And also if you read Ryan Griffin's interview from today we can see between the lines a little bit. It seems the meeting relations meeting was on 07/29/2014 and this is what Ryan was asked and what he said.

TE Ryan Griffin

(on if Bill O’Brien coaches him on answering questions) “Yeah, well, we just had our media relations information meeting yesterday so I’m sure guys are caught up from that. But it’s always been about the team. It really has. Even last year we were a team together. But now we just have a different way of saying it.”

So, all said, I believe Arian was taking the meeting to the extreme, but you know, kind of playful; but at the same time poking a little fun at the media.

I mean, don't forget who the media are, guys and gals. Yes, they bring us information, but they also bring us agenda.

LOL, just clicked on the link and saw who wrote the article.. John Lopez..:vincepalm:

I actually got a chuckle out of Arian's interview.

Lopez hackin for those clicks. I don't know where he got the "back" issue from, but until someone other than this hack says it it's meh

He and that Nick guy need to stay together. That way I can avoid the both of them by not tuning into 610 in the morning. Texans shows and Meltzer/Payne are the only reasons I tune in to begin with

Media is full of propaganda and you're subjected to their agenda. Don't let them think for you. #staysuckafree ✌️

How many of y'all read this article on JJ?
I'd be an asshole too if I couldn't even go out to eat without it being a circus. I'd love to have the money, but they can keep the fame.

I was lucky enough to be able to go to the Owen Daniel's charity events where the players were able to serve/have dinner with us and mingle among the crowds. The first two years was great, players came over sat down with us had some wine, and generally seemed to have a great time. AJ stood in the corner, normal self, no interaction, but that's the norm for him.

The last year we went, the cat was out the box and they put in a bigger place with more people. Women had lost their mind I was standing next to JJ Watt when a woman randomly walked up and grabbed his crotch, he basically had to hide behind several other people when we were coming through, it was embarrassing for all of us.

I can understand why they do feel the way they do, but in reality Arian likes to stir the pot unless it's being stirred on him, he's always been that way. Not a huge fan of the personality that I do see from Arian, and its' the same personality we saw when he came in and what got him knocked out of the draft.

If it looks like a cat, acts like a cat, eats like a cat.. it's most likely a cat. People's actions over time will eventually show their true personality, and over the last few years I've enough, not a huge Arian fan.

That's just my opinion though and I'm entitled to that.
