2014 NFL Draft Thread

Well, there went the tackle I'd hoped for. Of course, there was no chance he'd fall to the third.

Has any team had this much invested in the front five? We have so many 'talented' players why do we need to keep spending such high picks? Shouldn't we have a few pro bowl players and be able to fill the rest of the holes with role player guys? What scheme are we running that we need top 3 round picks or all pros at every position to be successful?

Seahawks has two first round picks on their OL, not to mention Max Unger was a 2nd. 49ers have 3 first rounders on their OL. So in comparison, we should be drafting more lineman in the first.

Weird pick by Skins taking OLB with Kerrigan and Orakpo already there.

Ravens take Jernigan. Steelers & Ravens picks both fit their teams to a "T". Great picks by both teams.

I actually don't think Jernigan is a great fit for Baltimore. He's not a 0 and he's not a 3 or a 5.

But Newsome is notorious for taking BPA regardless of fit.

Just having breakfast here in Tokyo as it is 10AM. As expected a little run at RB. I think those RB picks were good value picks. Nix is still available interesting.

If they take another lineman of any flavor with their 3rd pick they will have made this draft for me.

Of we just fix both OL and our front seven D in this draft and nothing else I'll be happy.

And an slot WR
And a nickel CB but that's it. Nothing else,

Well maybe a RB.

Well maybe a RB.
And an ILB. And maybe a blocking TE. But that's it!

So can someone pop up a list of top available players?

Louis Nix, DT
David Yankey, OG
Allen Robinson, WR
Morgan Moses, OT
Marcus Roberson, CB
Ka'Deem Carey RB
Scott Crichton, DE
Trevor Reilly, OLB
Gabe Jackson, OG
Tre Mason, RB
Jackson Jeffcoat, DE
Travis Swanson, C
Antonio Richardson, OT,
Jimmy Garoppolo, QB

What I find interesting is it looks like the same selection of QB's is going to be available at 3.1 as was at 2.1 sans Carr who we were never going to select. Shrewd thinking by the Texans.

I think this is where they pull the trigger. Jimmy G is my pick, but maybe they like AJ, or Mettenberger (although I doubt it) or Savage, or Murray et al, but I have to believe this is when we pull the trigger.

Well, we'll at least get a pick from the top four of that list. I don't see how Nix is going to make it to us though.

Morgan Moses hmmm. I was good with him at 2.1. At 3.1 he is a steal.

I'm perfectly ok with taking him and finally fixing this oline. That would give us a great starting group with solid depth. Nothing wrong with that at all if they want to wait until 4.1 for a QB.

BPA wins.

There's every possibility that Mettenberger, McCarron, Murray may drop all the way to 4.1.
