2014 Texans Talk Mock Draft SELECTION

The NY Giants select Notre Dame TE Troy Nicklas

Thought about Amaro but Nicklas just seems more like a Giant type TE.

12(44) St. Louis Rams (RT22) ON THE CLOCK: 12:35pm - 4:35pm
13(45) Detroit Lions (steelbtexan) PM'ed
14(46) Pittsburgh Steelers (Rock N Randy) GET READY
15(47) Dallas Cowboys (Thetexanator) PM'ed
16(48) Baltimore Ravens (htownfan32) GET READY
17(49) New York Jets (ndevine7) GET READY
18(50) Miami Dolphins (Htownfan32) GET READY

Man, y'all got a lot done last night and this morning!

Cleveland stole Beckham just two picks in front of my Panthers. Dutch, I think you're underestimating him. He would be a great slot but he is a legitimate outside receiver.

New England somehow gets Jernigan at the end of the first. He fits perfectly.

San Francisco with a fantastic pick. I think Tuitt is one of the more underrated top talents in this draft. I think he's a top 15 player.

Tennessee and the Giants both get steals in the second round with Mason and Niklas, who I rate as first round talent.

That's 3 Tight Ends in a row.

Upcoming picks:

14(46) Pittsburgh Steelers (Rock N Randy)
15(47) Dallas Cowboys (Thetexanator)
16(48) Baltimore Ravens (htownfan32)
17(49) New York Jets (ndevine7)
18(50) Miami Dolphins (Htownfan32)
19(51) Chicago Bears (steelbtexan)
20(52) Arizona Cardinals (kiwitexansfan)
21(53) Green Bay Packers (mussop)
22(54) Philadelphia Eagles (beerlover)

Good value at this point I think.

I'm wondering how far ASJ drops....
It was tough to chose between Amaro and ASJ but I went with him due to the injury to ASJ + his down year. I think Amaro will be a match up nightmare with the Rams running game and Tavon Austin running around in that offense.

Dang!

A run on TEs I see

That was who i was going to select for the steelers was ASJ as they need an offensive weapon

Welp, plan B is to fortify the offensive line with a big road grader

The Pittsburgh Steelers select .... Cyrus Kouandjio, OT, Alabama

Kouandjio had a wonderful career at Bama he has surprisingly taken a hit to his draft stock here recently due to a failed physical
His knee didn't check out so right now Kouandjio is a gamble but I can't see him slipping past the 2nd RD. He is a former top 10 talent who has just fallen slowly and steadily over the past few months.

If the Steelers are right Kouandjio will reward them by being the pro bowl RT/LT he potentially can be

Stout in the run and good in his pass pro
Has all the measurables

I was thinking you were keen on a TE.

Cyrus is a good fall back. Someone will take a shot on his injury because he could be great.

That could be a steal or a total bust.

I can't see him falling out of the 2nd round, either.

I considered Cyrus here also. Tough to have two rookie bookend tackles but the Rams would have been set for years to come.

I am going to be offline for a bit. Lets keep this thing going.

PM picks to Dutchrudder, WolverineFan and Blake if needed.

16(48) Baltimore Ravens (htownfan32) ON THE CLOCK 2:40
17(49) New York Jets (ndevine7) GET READY
18(50) Miami Dolphins (Htownfan32) GET READY
19(51) Chicago Bears (steelbtexan) GET READY
20(52) Arizona Cardinals (kiwitexansfan) GET READY
21(53) Green Bay Packers (mussop) GET READY

The Baltimore Ravens select:

Jack Mewhort, OL, Ohio State - Big 10

Questions all along the line and Mewhort is a mid to late 2nd rounder to me. With Eugene Monroe resigned but Michael Oher gone, Mewhort will help protect the Ravens' 120 million dollar investment.

Can't go wrong investing in the line. He was the next OT on my board so solid value here.

"Keep your stinking paws off my player you damn dirty apes!"

Yes my heart is set on 1 guy.

Via proxy, steelbtexan and the Detroit Lions select:

Austin Seferian-Jenkins - TE - Washington

ASJ is a big guy who has a huge catch radius and great hands. The Huskies asked him to be a blocker this yr and he was so good at it that Sankey is one of the top rated RB's in this draft. Definitely a 1st rder and my top TE. Even over Ebron. (More well rounded) The foot injury is the only question.

I sure hope the Pats don't take AJS in the 1st rd of the real draft. The thought of Brady throwing to ASJ and a healthy Gronk will keep DC's up at night.

I agree with all of this.

Whoa now, let's give Sankey a little bit of credit. I agree that ASJ is a heck of a blocker though. Guys who can block and catch like him are dangerous weapons.

They are different type TE's. Ebron is more of a 'move TE' like Hernandez was and ASJ is more of your in-line guy like Gronk. I see why Ebron is so popular among draftniks, but TE's like Gronk and ASJ are even bigger matchup nightmares IMO.

I think Sankey is the best RB in this draft.

I would say between you and htown and anyone else hanging out get it done when the time is up.

Hopefully Blake or Dutch come back at the deadline and can make some sort of decision on it. They're the mods. I'm more of a helper of sorts, I don't really wanna make an executive decision on it.

Either way, the GM's for the Dolphins and Cardinals are both online and I have the Bears proxy pick so we should be able to knock out 4 picks pretty quickly here in the next 10 mins or so.
